Ivy's POV
I winked at Eric as I faced him directly, enjoying the way one corner of his mouth lifted in response. Without hesitation, I dropped to my knees and bowed my head respectfully. "I apologize, my king, but this charade is the only defense I have against the other she-wolves. They believe you favor me because of those few classes where you were my instructor, and their jealousy has become problematic."
Eric rubbed his face, trying and failing to hide the smirk playing on his lips. "Stand up. I'll deal with the student body later, but Rober and I need to have a conversation." I rose to my feet and bowed once more.
"Then I shall take my leave," I said, turning to go, but was stopped when Eric's hand caught my arm.
"We will discuss this matter later, in private," he said, his voice carrying an edge that sent shivers down my spine.
"As you wish, my king." I felt his slight tremor at my words before he released me, allowing me to walk into the auditorium.
