Chapter 14 - From happiness to anxiety

We're afraid to start over, thinking about the delay, what others will think of us, and how they'll react to what we'll do. Francisco is a happy boy, who, for many reasons, isn't easily shaken. In his quietest hours, he plays on the living room rug; in his most active hours, he plays in his mother's room, and at night, he loses sleep because of the anxiety caused by the desire to be big and small.

On the sunny morning, he got up, looked out the window, and realized how intense the routine of the older ones was, how heavy it was... others went to work, and others to school, the boys watched through the window, playing hide-and-seek. Francisco, with joyful eyes, saw how good it was to see joy.

Minutes later, he left the window, leaned against the bed, and wondered why he was so anxious, wanting something the older ones did, knowing it wasn't the right age for him to start?

The mother knocked on the door and asked her son what was wrong with her happy son. The once-happy son felt consumed by anxiety and trying to do things beyond his years.

The mother asked again what the problem was, and the son replied, "I want to be big."

The mother was surprised and said, "Then play more; run; it stimulates your body." He said, "No, Mom, that's not greatness. I'm talking about personal growth and the ability to begin conquering the world with my abilities."

It's not enough to smile all the time, morning, evening, afternoon, and at night, and at night, I'm invaded by thoughts that wander through my brain without my permission.

The mother, with tears in her eyes, and with a look of obliviousness. "I don't understand this child, but I think the greatness he refers to is in the sense of conquering the world with his abilities." Ready to talk, the mother looked at the ceiling of the room where Francisco slept and saw a photo of his birthday smiling. At the bottom of the photo was a favorite hat that Francisco loved to wear. On the hat was written, "You can be anything you want." Francisco knew the information on the hat because his late grandfather had made him understand.

The curious mother took the photo and read it more closely. She remembered that over time, she herself had offered it to orphanages along with other clothes, to be reused, not thrown away, knowing that there were people in need.

The boy saw his mother with a disguised smile to reveal the photo she'd taken, but it didn't work. Francisco leaned back on his mother's lap and began to look closely at the photo of his fourth birthday. He soon discovered, on the left side of the photo, in the background, on the chair, an old hat with an inspirational message. He grabbed the photo and ran to his toy river, looked for the magnifying glass, and saw clearly and accurately his old favorite hat after a few moments.

His mother followed Francisco to the playroom, received the photo, and said, "Look, you can be whatever you want, but don't be anxious because it's a problem that has destroyed many futures, especially when expectations don't match our reality."

Francisco looked at his mother and said, "As a mother, what about being a positive person, what his mother had told him earlier? His mother had told me that when we think positively, we attract positive things, right?

And why don't my expectations match my reality? Why are you being pessimistic?" Mother. Francisco cried again...

Happiness turned to anxiety, because it's not about showing probabilities but about stating certainties, even when there are doubts.
