Chapter 7 - A Moral Story for Life

When I was younger, before reaching my current maturity, I began to gain some experiences that would be meaningful over time. I was always very curious to know some things around me, such as why older people grow old in poverty when they had the chance to do their best when they were younger. I wondered why so many young people grow up demoralized, and I concluded that all these aspects of growth, whether personal, professional, or social, are burdened by a phase of mental laziness that ends up proposing a future not built by us, or agents of change, but by demand never chosen.

One time, a visitor arrived at my house and asked me, "Candido, what are you doing?" I answered her question as follows, passing the time. The questioner looked at me and said, "Candid, why do you let time pass you by if you can very well use it to move through life and achieve prosperity?" I asked, "How can I use time to my advantage if I can't control it?" He said, "Take your watch and look at time... what do you see?" I replied... nothing, just the structure itself."

The questioner looked at me and said, "Candid, do you want to control the way time passes, or do you want to control the way you spend it?"

I replied, "I don't understand." He said, "Look, in life, you need to focus on urgency, because time is never on our side. This urgency isn't about rushing things, but about strategically perceiving the opportunities around you and using them quickly and strategically."
