Chapter 7 - Act 4 - Will of the Dead

[Enter scene: Reader, Random, Glitched Crying Child to the Stage]

[Status: Update complete!]

[Presenting Act 4,]

The update's complete; I still have the same memories of the book from before but with two versions. I have a faint outline of the second version, but it seems like I still have to read it.

I'll look into it later.

[It has been 30 seconds since the Reader has sent the masses off. Now there isn't a person to be seen in a 60-meter radius of the bench he talked from, or more accurately there are only two people to be seen.]

Hmm..? Oh, It's the one kid who glitched in and out, and, the one death mentioned in Act 3. The book never mentioned why he didn't follow my instructions, it might be interesting to ask him…

"You! Why are you still here?"

[A Random who failed to follow instructions thinks to himself: He must have been on that edge for a reason, he'll probably understand right?]

"I doubt I'd have any reason to run. We were both on that tower up there, you must've had the same feelings as me."

Wow, extremely dark, but aside from that, I had also been standing on that tower since sunrise, how long was he there?

Since he was still alive there's only one explanation

"Awkward?"

[Both of them laugh a bit,]

"Well—, yes, awkward."

[Actually, they both laugh tremendously.]

"Well! Good thing is you're still alive."

[The radius between the bench and the masses is 70 meters, and more people glitch into view, their faces are distorted, grey, and doused in dust. Some can be seen holding hands and walking cautiously to the edges of the circle. The atmosphere fogs up, and the sun which is shrouded, lights up the sky in a deep orange color. The airplanes are roaring loudly, it seems like it'll hit at any moment but it just keeps looming louder.]

"Yo, government agent guy? This isn't the outer space anomaly thing you mentioned, I know. I remember reading about this once. You didn't have to say all that stuff at the end. I guess it was a bit embarrassing to survive an attempt like that though."

"What?"

[Reader appears visibly shocked, revealing the truth and his cover.]

How does he know? There is no correlation between him and the acts, it should be impossible for him even to know that this happened before, let alone read the books. Now that I think about it, he doesn't seem too afraid at all of what's happening.

[The Random who failed to follow instructions also looks back surprised.]

"Sorry, I didn't expect you to be so startled, I read an article on the Uncharted Futures website, its title was 9/11 and was written by P.W. It's impressive how close he got it to real life."

[Reader is dumbfounded]

[Random shifts to the left avoiding his gaze, stares into space, and smiles a little.]

"Man… It's such a shame he quit, he was such a damn good writer! I almost read all his works, it's hard to catch up since he wrote an article almost everyday—"

Wait, I'm P.W. though, is he talking about me?

"—he must have been under pressure but it didn't even matter because every single one was peak. I was around this area and I was pretty sure he had written about this place before, so I just decided to visit it."

[Random who failed to follow instructions looks back at Reader, he is taken aback by how elated he looks, in Random's mind, he compares it to happy kittens, and thinks back to the time when Reader went off on a tangent about cats in one of his articles. At the very end of Readers journalism, he only had one follower left. He had always wanted to meet him in person.]

"Oh? You seem happy, agent-guy, have you read his works as well?"

"Read? I basically memorized all of his works!"

[Random is happy to see a fellow reader, but also a bit confused: I was P.W. 's only follower for months?]

"Dang, we should have met before then, it sucks that we have to go out like—"

"I'm not going out,"

"Ohhh, Right, I guess you did fall to experiment–"

[The radius between the bench and the masses is still 70 meters. There is no space for the extra hundred thousand npcs to spawn evenly, with no other choice the system resorts to placing them in center stage. Reader climbs up the bench and looks like he is preparing for something, albeit strangely, it looks as if he is preparing to strike with a sword that isn't there.]

"No, you misunderstand me, Random who failed to follow instructions. You and I still have work to do."

[Random is confused: Is he talking about me? I didn't hear any instructions though. Ohhh, It's probably because I had AirPods on.]

[Reader blabbers on unknowingly,]

"Unlike you, I never fell down that tower intending to die. Watch as I defy fate again, Random."

[The remaining nps start to obscure Reader, until he is almost he is no longer seen except for his face. Reader, looks over, and creaks out the biggest smile Random has ever seen.]

[Determined as ever Reader looks forward and waits.]

[Curious, Random intently waits with him]

["Defier of Death" is shaking vigorously]

["Defier of Death" is shaking vigorously]

[Random who failed to follow instructions admires you, he is also a bit hurt by your word choices. The Glitched crying child also admires you, however, it is unclear whether he understood what you said.]

["Defier of Death" is shaking violently]
