We need to get the fuck off of this planet, and fast.
Us shinobi won't have an issue surviving, the problem is protecting the civilians. Once edo tensei begin to converge and come at us all at once we won't have the manpower to protect them. Jiraya sighs. "No, reverse summoning wouldn't work. The summons still live on this planet, albeit in remote places. We would still get discovered and attacked eventually."
Everyone who is worth anything is on the hokage tower. That means me, Hinata, Sakura, Mei, Tsunade, Jiraya, Onoki and Kakashi. Hinata takes a deep breath. "It would still give us some more time to come with a solution. We can leave a token force of edo tensei here as a distraction."
I give Kakashi a pensive look, which makes him look confusedly at me. He can send people into the kamui dimension, the only problem is that he can't take them out. Minato is still gone, so we don't have the option of trying the hiraishin.
I sigh. "Kakashi, do you-" the blaring of the village alarm interrupts me. There's another wave of edo tensei coming.
I stand up and give Hinata a look, she activates the byakugan and then shakes her head. "I don't recognize them. They are evenly matched with our patrolling edo tensei, so they are not dangerous."
Each of us creates six shadow clones each, sending them to deal with the intruding edo tensei. We sit back down and continue planning. If any edo tensei manage to penetrate our defensive perimeter we'll get warned by Hinata. I take a deep breath. "Kakashi, can you send us to the kamui dimension with your mangekyou?"
Kakashi blinks. "Is that what that's called? I can send things there, I haven't actually managed to get things back," Just like I expected.
Wait a second, didn't OG Sasuke's rinnegan let him travel through dimensions?
I get up. "I think I might have a solution."
I activate my rinnegan and try to open a portal. Most of the rinnegan's powers are instinctive to use, so it doesn't take long for me to open up a portal in front of me. It's a lava dimension. I close the portal before we drown in lava.
Tsunade taps my shoulder. "Try that somewhere else, preferably not in the village, idi-"
Hinata shouts. "Incoming!"
Before I can even rise up and use the gates, tattoo's or anything else, a giant susanoo carves a deep trench as it flies right next to the village borders. It moved so fast that I didn't even catch a look at whoever was inside the thing before it left out of the horizon. All that I could tell was that there was a blur resembling a person inside the susanoo, and another similar blur outside of the susanoo.
I tap Jiraya's shoulder. "We're going to the frogs."
Jiraya nods. "Yeah, I'm pretty sure that they'll understand the necessity. If we give them our assurance that we're not going to stay there for long they won't disagree."
Hinata sighs in relief. "Tobirama is on his way. He is friendly."
Finally, flying thunder. "Let's wait for him. We can check whether the hiraishin can get us in or out of kamui."
We're silent for about five seconds, after which Tobirama lands right next to Tsunade. He takes a good look at each of us. "Status report?"
I snicker. "Apocalypse. We're getting the fuck off of this planet'
He sighs. "Figures. Hashirama was right, this jutsu was a mistake," He looks at Tsunade. "How can I be of any help?"
Tsunade sighs. "Make a shadow clone. Kakashi is going to use a jutsu on it. The clone should then try to teleport back here with the hiraishin jutsu. If it works we're moving there."
Tobirama nods, gives her a hiraishin kunai and then makes a shadow clone. Kakashi uncovers his sharingan, turns it into a mangekyou and teleports Tobirama's shadow clone into the kamui dimension. The clone teleports right next to Tsunade after a second.
I sigh in relief. I don't know and I don't want to know who else that madman brought back. All that's left is confirming whether or not ther-
Hinata shouts again. "Incoming! The perimeter patrols are having some issues with one of the edo tensei, prepare in case they fail."
Fucking Zetsu.
—
I make a portal. It's to a dimension composed entirely of glass. "Any takers?"
Sakura sighs. "Just try again, at some point we're bound to find a good one."
I shrug, close the portal and open another one to another random dimension. This time we're looking at verdant grasslands instead of another absurdist hellspace.
Sakura blinks. "Huh, let's send some shadow clones to scout."
Tobirama nods. "That would be prudent. We're not sure whether the inhabitants of this dimension are of any danger."
Sending massed shadow clones into the dimension to scout swiftly reveals that it's entirely composed of grasslands, with no other lifeforms visible. We don't waste any time, moving everyone and everything inside of that dimension.
—
I groan in relief as I sink into the bed. Finally, after a week of getting randomly attacked by rabid edo tensei, I can finally just rest and sleep. I revive myself with the rinnegan and then close my eyes.
We've been in the dimension for two days at this point. Wood release allowed us to quickly build homes and furniture, food is a little bit of an issue. We've brought enough rations to last us for about three months. Wood release is also a giant help right now, since it can be used to make fruits and vegetables grow quicker.
I don't fight as sleep takes me, it's been a wild fucking week.
-six months later
I come back home from training. Opening the door reveals a two-month pregnant Hinata playing chess with Karari. Hirogi, Kurari and Kurotsuchi are still training, since we need as much shinobi capable of wood release as possible.
I sit next to Hinata and give her a kiss on the cheek. "So, who's winning?"
Hinata smiles, nuzzling her head into my shoulder. "Karari is winning this time."
Karari does not pay any attention to us, concentrating on the board as if her line was on the line. I snicker. "The literal definition of a tryhard."
Hinata watches as Karari moves a piece, immediately moving one as well afterwards. "I hope Sakura will be home in time for dinner."
I nod. "Yeah, she'll come here in about ten minutes. This was the last batch of implants."
Hinata yawns. "I honestly can't wait to finally see our little girl."
I give Hinata a hug and kiss her forehead. "Yeah, hopefully we can figure out a good name for her."
-The End.
AN:
This is about the same length that I expected when I first began writing this. I honestly wasn't sure whether or not I could pull this off to the end. Thanks to everyone who's been with me this far :).
I'll write an epilogue for this story at some point, just don't want to rush it.
A rewrite is also going to happen in the future, just not any time soon :).
Thanks for reading.
