Chapter 87 - 87

The vast Batcave is filled with a vast array of high-tech equipment. The sheer volume of sophisticated equipment is enough to make one dizzy. These devices would fetch exorbitant prices outside, and many are unavailable! Countless national laboratories have been unable to find these devices, yet they have all been brought to this Batcave.

Bruce took off his shirt, revealing a muscular build. He held a small hydraulic press aloft, combining a vast array of materials unheard of in the outside world. He had already had a vague idea in his mind of building a super armor capable of dealing with powerful threats, and now was the time to put it into practice.

The number of various superhumans is constantly increasing, and Bruce always has a sense of urgency in his heart. He will never allow himself to be powerless in front of someone.

Many machines were running, and his old butler Alfred was helping him. In the empty yet slightly crowded Batcave, there were only the two of them and a bunch of computer programs busying around.

The heavy sound of machinery echoed in the Batcave, adding a sense of dullness.

"Every time you do this, it causes huge trouble." Alfred lost his usual gentle smile. His face was serious, and although he was helping Bruce, he couldn't help but persuade him.

"You've been taking care of me since I was little." Bruce wiped the sweat from his forehead and walked to a giant computer to input a new round of data. "You should understand that you can't persuade me. I must end the source of this evil."

"You can't use these things against the Joker. You want to deal with another person, mechanic Donnie. You want to build an unprecedented set of armor to deal with him." Alfu picked up a large piece of armor. This armor will eventually be melted to extract the core material inside.

"You've said more than once that you want to protect this city, not destroy it."

"I am protecting this city in my own way."

"No, you're destroying him with your own hands. This is a path of no return." Alfu stood up straight. "You're actively waging war against a mutant, and a mutant of such strength... You should be more concerned about the Joker, not Donny. The Joker is the source of this chaos in this city."

Bruce was a little stubborn. "The Joker is, and so is Donny. I will put them both in jail. The Joker is slaughtering the upper class, and Donny is inciting civilians to go to war. These two people have made the whole of Gotham a mess. They think they are high and mighty and can replace the will of others with their own, forcing others to follow their ideas. This is the most dangerous move."

"What about Rachel?! You would rather stay here and build the armor than care about Rachel?! The Joker has threatened to kill her! In a few hours, the Joker will kill Rachel!" Ah Fu suddenly raised his voice.

Bruce's movements suddenly stopped, and he slowly put down his tools. Alfred's words were like a thunderclap, waking him up from things he didn't want to recall. This complex Dark Knight had already made a painful but necessary decision in his heart.

"I will take off my mask at the press conference," Bruce said in a deep voice, "but that doesn't mean I admit defeat. Even if I'm exposed, I will catch the Joker back!"

The wrinkles on Alfred's face deepened. He knew Bruce too well. When Bruce was a teenager, his parents were killed, and Alfred had taken care of Bruce until he grew up. He understood Bruce's dark side best. After all, Bruce grew up in hatred.

In a way, Bruce lied, or rather, even Bruce couldn't figure out what he was thinking.

Rachel was Bruce's childhood sweetheart. They had grown up together, had a close relationship, and loved each other. Even during the years when Bruce was training with the League of Shadow Warriors, their feelings for each other remained unbroken.

But unfortunately, the two of them did not end up together. Rachel loved Bruce.

Not Batman. But Alfred knew that for Wayne, Bruce's identity was just a disguise, and Batman was his true inner self.

This is undoubtedly a great tragedy.

When Harvey appeared in Gotham City, Bruce Wayne once thought he saw a bright hope, a legitimate knight of justice who would lead the city into a new future. But the greater the hope, the greater the setbacks, and the greater the resentment in his heart.

He single-handedly ended the Falcon era, and then the Falcon crime family, which was closely connected with the political and legal circles, rose to power. Then the Joker, who distorted human nature, appeared, and Downey also came to Gotham.

Almost overnight, the entire city went from being full of hope to being on the verge of collapse. The situation became increasingly deteriorating, and even Harvey was shaken.

Bruce has made up his mind that if someone really needs to take responsibility, he will take it! He will defeat all enemies as Batman and save the city at all costs!

Not even if Rachel is in the way!

Bruce's difficult early life experiences left him with a dark heart. He yearned for light, yet his mind remained forever in darkness, wandering between the two. He viewed everything in the world with suspicion, never trusting anyone, ever.

Bruce continued his work, aiming to create a top-tier suit of armor capable of countering someone as powerful as Donny. The rare, high-tech equipment alone had already cost him over a billion dollars, and the various precious materials would cost hundreds of millions more. This suit was, in a sense, a bottomless pit of money.

Ah Fu stared at Bruce for a long moment before finally joining the crafting process silently. All that needed to be said had been said. Now that the young master had made his decision, he would keep going until the end of the road. Over the years, no matter how difficult their lives had been, they had always supported each other. Hopefully, this time would be no different.

Bruce wheeled a Micro Motion laser onto the track while a large object was positioned on the other side for cutting.

"Don't worry, Alfu. I've found a way to deal with Donny. He's not as invincible as you think. Everyone has weaknesses. There's no such thing as perfect ability in this world." Bruce used a chain to pull another instrument and set the program on the electronic screen until the computer gave a voice prompt of "Settings completed."

"Have you found a way to fight him?"

"Yes, just like using a device that blocks brain waves to deal with Professor X, no one is perfect. Donny is a human being after all, not a god." Bruce said, "I have found a way to deal with him. I will defeat him and send him to Arkham Prison with my own hands! I will use facts to tell him that he has no right to put his will above that of others!"
