Time flows like sake spilling from a cracked cup. Half a month slipped by in Windmill Village.
"Oi! Jin, back from hunting again? When're you and Makino gonna throw the damn wedding feast, huh? We're all waiting!"
"Yeah, yeah! You better treat Makino right, kid. Windmill's got her back—fuck with her and we'll bury your pretty face in the sand!"
"Handsome little bastard, ain't he?"
"Right? And Makino's a real beauty… they fit together like sake and fire."
Dragging a big-ass Ironhide Boar across the main road, Jin gave nods and lazy smiles. Half a month here, and the villagers had wrapped him up like one of their own.
Rumors spread faster than a drunk's fart: the new boy living at Makino's bar must be her lover. At first, Jin and Makino tried to deny it—but hell, who listens? By now, they'd just laugh it off. Even Jin had to admit… it made things pleasantly complicated.
Behind the bar, back entrance.
"Ki-ki-nee-san, I'm back," Jin called out, dropping the beast in the yard.
After the village started teasing them, Makino made Jin call her "Nee-san" (big sis)—or she'd kick him out. Jin, smirking, agreed.
The back door creaked. Makino stepped out, face flushed pink, eyes narrowed in pretend anger.
"Jin! You didn't deny it just now. The customers all said you admitted I'm your gi—girlfriend…" Her voice trailed off, ears red.
Jin raised an eyebrow, smirk curling. "Deny what? Shit, I do wanna chase you, Nee-san. You're the hottest woman in this village and half the damn sea."
"D-don't spout nonsense! You're ten! What do you know about women, idiot!" Makino huffed, turning her head. But the faint grin tugging at her lips betrayed her.
Heh. Past life pushing forty, current body ten—this shameless mouth still works just fine, Jin thought.
"Anyway, Nee-san, today's hunt was solid—snagged a fat Ironhide Boar. You wanna carve it up or what?" he changed the topic, reading the signs: her face had gone too red.
Makino exhaled, grateful for the shift.
"It's too damn big, Jin-kun. The last one's still half in the freezer…"
"How about this," Jin suggested. "I butcher the good cuts for the bar, store them. The rest? Gift to the villagers. Keeps the gossipers fed and happy."
Makino's eyes softened; she nodded, "That… actually sounds great. Thanks, Jin. I'll handle the front—don't slack off!"
She winked playfully, sash swaying as she turned.
Jin cursed under his breath, watching her hips move.
"Damn little minx… trying to kill me with a wink, huh? One day, I'll make you blush till your legs give out."
Carving finished, Jin hauled the biggest chunk toward the port—village chief's house.
Half a month… two, three times a week, I scout the woods. Spotted the mountain bandits: Dadan Family. Saw Ace from afar, brat's already got that pissed-off face. Didn't see Luffy yet… kid must not have come to Windmill Village yet. Should be soon. And then? Maybe the Red-Haired bastard himself drops anchor. Fuck, I'm itching for that day.
Village chief Kazu's place wasn't far. Jin knocked with his foot.
"Chief Kazu! Brought fresh meat!"
Door creaked open. Chief Kazu beamed, "Oh-ho, Jin-kun! You spoil this old man. Come in, sit!"
Jin set down the slab, took a seat. "Chief, while hunting, I found a group holed up in the hills. Strong types—why no bounty on their heads? Wouldn't it be smarter to clear them out?"
"Ah… you mean the Dadan Family," Kazu chuckled. "They're bandits, yes—but retired. Keep to the mountain, only come down for supplies. They don't mess with the village, so… no need for bounties or Navy trouble."
"Got it," Jin nodded. Retired or not, if they touch Makino or the village… I'll bury them myself.
Standing, Jin grabbed his blade. "Thanks, chief. I gotta get back—Nee-san'll scold me for slacking."
Chief Kazu waved him off, then called out, teasing,
"Jin! Makino's a good girl. Don't let her slip away!"
Jin snorted, waving as he left. "Don't worry, old man—I'm already working on it.
