Chapter 12 - Night Hunt in the Beast Forest

Night fell. The round moon devoured the last trace of sunset.

Beyond the tree line, the forest roared alive — the calls of predators staking claims in blood and fang.

In the moonlight stood Jin: black sleeveless shirt, dark military pants, arms wrapped in bandage all the way to callused fists. Half a year of brutal training had carved his young body into lean muscle, though a stubborn bit of baby fat still clung to his cheeks.

Moonlight caught his violet eyes, giving them a chilling depth.

He thumbed the worn grip of his blade, sighed, and muttered,

"Son of a bitch... I hate going into the woods at night. But there's no damn choice. Move, Jin."

One step, then another. His body blurred into the darkness, leaping from branch to branch.

He didn't bother masking his presence — better to burn stamina in speed than risk a fight with a midnight predator.

"Been two months since I saw that bastard bear. Hope it's still guarding the Starshroud Grass… The thing probably gnaws on it to fuel that insane body of his. Almost poetic — a monster guarding a miracle."

The forest whipped past under the blur of movement; Jin's senses stayed razor-sharp, every rustle a potential threat.

Suddenly — a clash of roars ahead, savage and thunderous.

Jin halted atop a thick branch, eyes narrowing.

"The bear's fighting something. Shit, what the fuck is that other roar? Some overgrown feline? No… Wait—"

He raced forward, boots cracking bark, and then froze on a high branch, staring.

"Fuck me sideways… Is that a goddamn dinosaur?"

Before him, in a moonlit clearing, a massive gray beast with black stripes — at least five meters tall and twice as long — thundered its fury. Facing it: the giant bear Jin had seen before, now even bigger, battered, but refusing to back down.

"Jesus… That bear grew another damn meter in two months. The hell is this world…"

Jin sucked in a breath, heart pounding.

"Bear's tough, but it's losing. If that monster wins, I'm screwed. Better help the bear, take down lizardzilla first, then see what's left."

Resolve tightened his jaw.

"Fuck it. Let's see what half a year of hellish training bought me."

He dropped from the branch, boots crushing undergrowth, and sprinted.

Sixty meters vanished in seconds — muscles screaming, breath burning, violet eyes locked on target.

At the last instant, Jin twisted, knees bent, arm coiling like a steel spring.

With a roar, he unleashed the blade in a full-powered draw slash.

"HAH!"

A flash of silver. A low, wet crunch.

The dinosaur's leg buckled, the beast howling in rage as it crashed forward.

"Shit… Even full force couldn't sever it completely. Tough bastard."

Jin backed off, breathing hard. The bear, wounded and bloodied, only growled uncertainly from the side.

"Come on, furball! He's down a leg, hit him!" Jin barked, blood spattering from his lips.

But the bear didn't move. Its chest was caved in, flesh torn, blood dribbling from its throat. It was on its last breath.

"Motherfucker. Guess it's on me, then."

The dinosaur swung its massive head, jaws wide enough to snap trees.

Jin ducked sideways, but its tail lashed out like a black whip.

CRACK!

Pain exploded across Jin's ribs, flinging him backward like a rag doll. Dirt burned across his back before he finally skidded to a stop.

"Hah… bastard hits like a train…" Jin spat blood, wiping his mouth with the back of his hand.

His violet eyes burned, madness dancing behind them.

"But I'm not done yet."

The monster limped toward him, rage twisting its ruined face.

Jin dug his heels into the earth, gathering breath, muscles trembling under the surge.

"FIVE DRAGON FIST — BREAK!"

His punch roared forward, condensing air to bursting point. Bone and muscle screamed protest. The shockwave crushed into the dinosaur's skull — bone cracked, flesh caved.

It staggered, half its face gone. Jin followed up, ignoring his own pain.

"FIVE DRAGON FIST — SHATTER!"

A second punch, slower but crueler, carrying a rippling force. The shock dug through scale and bone, tearing apart what was left of the creature's brain.

The giant fell with a ground-quaking crash, life gone before its head even fully hit dirt.

Jin stood over the corpse, hand dripping blood, chest heaving. Every muscle in his small frame twitched with exhaustion.

"Heh… Not bad, kid. Not fucking bad," he rasped to himself, tasting copper on his tongue.

All around him, the moonlit forest trembled silent.

"Kikoru… You saw that, right? This is only the start," Jin whispered, voice raw but sure.
