I'm shocked! After swearing at me she walked out of my class! I wanted her close when she's in my class so I've changed my seating plans. I emailed them to Abby over the weekend. I now realise from her reactions she clearly hasn't seen them.
Fuck!!
I'd gotten so angry with her. Dominated and probably embarrassed her in front of everyone. I've really fucked up!
'Get on with your work' I say gruffly, plopping down into my chair. I sit there contemplating how to deal with this mess I've caused.
I was strict and way too harsh. I'm just going to let Abby cool down. I'll approach her at break to apologise. I'm in the wrong here.
When the bell goes I usher the class out. My next class comes in. 'Leave your homework on my desk and take your seats' when everyone's sat down I hand out worksheets. The class get on with their work in silence. I call Lucy up to my desk
'Lucy I need you to do extra homework this week, you're lacking in long division and decimals' I hand her the paper then she goes and takes her seat.
I walk around the classroom a few times then sit at my desk silently brooding. That's when I notice my computer has a red box stating urgent. I click on the box and there's a note from Mr lye.
- is Abby in today? She's marked in for form but she has not arrived to my class.
I check my watch, there's 30 minutes left so she's late.
- she was in form this morning. There was an incident. She walked out. Please message back if she hasn't turned up by the end of class.
When there's 5 minutes left of class I get up and hand out this week's homework. Then stand at the front of the classroom.
'Pack your things away then leave. ensure you take your homework it's due on the first day back'.
Next week year 10 and sixth form are sitting exams. So year 7-9 have a week off and year 11 are on residential trips. There's three going on. One to the isle of white, one to a boot camp in the alps and one to a team building activity camp. We sent the forms out two weeks ago and most have been signed and returned. I know for a fact Abby hasn't handed her form back yet.
My next class comes in 'take your seats, you'll be watching a film today' I click play and the students settle down to watch it. I go into my office leaving the door open so I can keep an eye on the class. I go to the computer. There's two new messages
Mr lye-
- Abby never arrived
The second message is from Mrs smith -
- she's not arrived. I've attached homework. Please can you pass along.
To my surprise Mr smith strolls into my office shutting the door behind him.
'What can I do for you?'
'I've come to complain about your student'
'hmm which one' I mutter.
'Abby, Abby rye'. His got my full attention now. I gesture for him to carry on. which he does.
'she ran into me this morning, when I told her to stop she ignored me! I thought you'd sorted her behaviour?'
'Mr smith I apologise on Abby's behalf, there was a slight incident this morning, she was emotional' he chuckles at this.
'so you send all emotional students home?' He questions.
'What?' He chuckles again then says dryly
'she went through reception, I've just been to my wife's class and she's not there, she's clearly gone home' I abruptly get out of my chair.
'Can you cover for me, I need to deal with this' 'err sure' I walk out, grabbing my keys and head to reception.
Maddy the receptionist blushes when I ask where Abby is, clearly hesitant.
'she's not come back yet Mr Sinclair, she um had an accident' my brows furrow.
'accident?' She stumbles on her words
'I um, she, uh, well, a private accident'.
I walk out of reception and drive over to Abby's house. I get out and bang on her door. It doesn't take long for the door to swing open revealing Abby, she tries to slam it shut but i put my foot in the way, I push against the door to open it....
