Chapter 101 - Convergence

Gazing at the departing stream of survivors, Marcus knew the truth. Most of them would choose self-preservation, opting not to actively expose their identities as Raccoon City survivors. Only a small, courageous portion would adhere to his plan, utilizing the leaked research data to approach news media, serving as living witnesses to reveal the full horror that had unfolded in Raccoon City. For Marcus, this was more than enough to crush the Umbrella Corporation and exert immense pressure on the American government.

Withdrawing his gaze, Marcus refocused on the individuals still remaining in the hall: Jill, Carlos, Tyrell, Sherry, and Annette. Among them, Jill, Carlos, and Tyrell had originally been relentlessly pursued by the Nemesis T-Type. However, thanks to the Tyrant Xenomorph's hunt, the Nemesis T-Type had met a premature demise. Consequently, instead of following the original plot and seeking refuge in another Umbrella underground facility, they had found themselves here, at the Raccoon City Police Department.

"Miss Jill Valentine, I've heard much about you," Marcus said, extending his hand and smiling warmly. Jill, eyeing the towering Tyrant Xenomorph beside him—the very creature that had saved her from the beast-like Nemesis T-Type—remained wary. "Who exactly are you?" she pressed, her voice laced with suspicion. "And why do you know everything about the Umbrella Corporation?" As a STARS member who had survived the harrowing Mansion Incident, Jill was deeply distrustful of Marcus, his Tyranid Warbeasts, and the Slashers now roaming outside.

Marcus spread his hands. "Didn't I tell you? I am the captain of the Ishimura. As for the meaning of that title, you will soon know, Miss Jill. And as for the Umbrella Corporation's affairs, haha, the water runs much deeper than you think, but it doesn't matter. The Umbrella Corporation will soon disappear completely." Jill frowned. Marcus's demeanor was friendly, yet the information he divulged was minimal.

Regardless, having endured the Mansion Incident, Jill genuinely yearned for Umbrella's complete destruction. However, she couldn't shake the feeling that Marcus, standing before her, was potentially more terrifying than the Umbrella Corporation itself. She had personally witnessed the Tyrant Xenomorph slaughtering the beast-like Nemesis T-Type, and such a monster completely obeyed the man before her. Then there were the tens of thousands of Slashers outside, far more horrifying than zombies, a name she'd learned from Isaac.

"I hope you won't be the next Umbrella Corporation," Jill stated, looking directly into Marcus's eyes, her voice grim.

"I don't have time to mess with biological virus research. Those Slashers outside are not products of a virus either," Marcus shrugged, dismissing her concern. For him, the various viruses were merely mission objectives.

Concluding his conversation with Jill, Marcus turned to Carlos and Tyrell. These two were UBCS members deployed by the Umbrella Corporation into Raccoon City, ostensibly to rescue survivors. In truth, they were mere expendables, used for testing BOWs (Bio-Organic Weapons) like Tyrants and Nemesis T-Types. The information Marcus had distributed explicitly detailed this betrayal. At this moment, Carlos and Tyrell were in a complex emotional state, silently cursing Umbrella Corporation's very lineage. They had initially joined as mercenaries, thinking this high-paying operation would be an easy score. Instead, their original force of over a hundred had been reduced to just a handful.

"What about you two?" Marcus asked. "What are your plans? Are you leaving Raccoon City now?" Carlos and Tyrell exchanged a glance.

"How will you deal with those Slashers outside?" Carlos asked, voicing the unspoken question in everyone's mind. A person who commanded tens of thousands of undead legions—they dared not imagine what monstrous acts he might commit.

"Convergence," Marcus uttered slowly, two words hanging heavy in the air.

Isaac, not far away, reacted instantly, rushing to Marcus's side. "Are you sure you want to do this?" Due to Marcus's interventions, Isaac had not directly confronted the Leviathan on the Ishimura, nor the Hive Mind on Aegis VII, let alone a Blood Moon. But he knew what "Convergence" truly meant. The others present all looked bewildered.

"Don't worry," Marcus said casually. "At least the Marker is still under my control. Even if something goes wrong, I can stop the Convergence at any time." Without further ado, Marcus placed his hand back on the surface of the Red Marker.

"Convergence program, activate!"

The red symbols on the Marker's surface erupted in a dazzling light. An invisible mental pulse radiated outwards, instantly sweeping over everyone present and rapidly spreading throughout the entire Raccoon City. Everyone, except Marcus, felt an inexplicable chill.

"Let's go, let's watch this feast," Marcus said, withdrawing his hand, looking at the crowd. He then walked out of the police station lobby towards a nearby skyscraper. The others exchanged glances and, with trepidation, chose to follow.

Now, Marcus, relying on his superhuman physical abilities, could effortlessly climb a hundred-meter-tall building with his bare hands, ascending more than ten meters with each leap. The others watched this feat in awe, their shock even more intense than when they had seen the Tyrant Xenomorph. The latter could still be explained as a bioweapon, but Marcus was a living human being, capable of such feats, which completely defied their imagination.

Everyone took the elevator to the rooftop. In the dark night sky, under the Marker's radiation, the originally pure white moonlight had turned a sinister crimson. Under the Marker's absolute control, tens of thousands of Necromorphs gathered around the Raccoon City Police Department. More precisely, they gathered around the Red Marker itself. Immediately after, under the Marker's horrific distortion, all the Necromorphs began to dissolve. All the Slashers dissolved into crimson, pulsating flesh. And with the Marker as the central nexus, they began to "converge."

Annette, as a mother, immediately covered Sherry's eyes. The others ran to the edge of the rooftop, watching the horrifying scene before them in utter shock. Countless masses of flesh began to rapidly twist, reorganize, and converge. A literal wave of flesh engulfed the entire Raccoon City Police Department and several surrounding buildings. Even after experiencing the hellish Raccoon City, everyone present felt a primal, overwhelming fear. Perhaps only in true hell could such a sight be witnessed.

Under the Marker's profound influence, this living flesh began to construct a spherical framework in a unique, impossible way. Then, the rest of the flesh completely filled into it. At the very center of this grotesque sphere was the Red Marker. Finally, under the illumination of the crimson moonlight, a colossal, miniature Blood Moon, hundreds of meters in diameter, converged into existence. And it was slowly rising from the ground. At the base of the Blood Moon, countless thick, twisted tentacles waved wildly, hungrily.
