Chapter 95 - Butcher

"Phase two, begin," Marcus declared with a smirk, once again swinging his Sunflare Sword.

Ten minutes later, Marcus's smile had faded, replaced by a slightly more serious expression as he observed G-William, who had further grotesquely mutated, now sporting four thick, clawed arms and an even more twisted form, signaling his entry into the third phase. While Marcus had easily dominated the first two phases of G-William in close combat, this third form was formidable enough to pose a tangible threat, especially with Marcus refraining from using ranged weapons.

As G-William roared and charged, Marcus took a deep breath, raising his sword once more. "Spinning Slash! Activated!" In an instant, Marcus became a blur, a human whirlwind slamming into G-William with incredible speed. At the last moment, G-William reacted, raising his monstrous claws to block. But under the effect of [Rage], the sword swept through with overwhelming force, instantly severing G-William's sharp bone claws and delivering a brutal strike to his chest.

In agony, G-William's other two massive claws swung down, attempting to tear Marcus to shreds. "Hey, four hands against two, that's just shameless," Marcus muttered, letting go of the sword and swiftly bending, rolling behind G-William. He then quickly opened his system inventory and retrieved his Chainsword. The guttural roar of the Chainsword's teeth echoed throughout the sewage treatment area. The next second, the Chainsword's whirring steel teeth bit into G-William's back, instantly exploding a giant yellow eye. Under the high-speed rotation of the blades, countless shattered flesh and blood splattered out, covering the ground. Corrosive toxins once again began to spread.

A foul, fishy gust of wind howled as one of G-William's giant claws swept horizontally. Marcus dodged, seizing the opportunity to re-grip the handle of his sword . With a powerful kick, he yanked the sword, which had been embedded in G-William's chest, free. Simultaneously, he tossed the Chainsword, embedding it into a giant eye on G-William's right arm, piercing straight through. Countless yellow pus exploded outwards, narrowly missing Marcus.

"Spinning Slash" activated again, and Marcus once more brought the sword down onto a giant eye located on G-William's left leg. Under the double critical hit, G-William was forced to his knees, gasping for breath.

"He has terrifying strength and monstrous regenerative abilities, but in terms of combat, he's just a mindless beast," Marcus observed, shaking his head. "This battle ends here." With that, he retrieved his Predator Shoulder Cannon, and terrifying energy converged, blasting towards the temporarily immobile G-William.

"Boom!"

Amidst the soaring flames, the G-Virus within G-William's body began to proliferate wildly, driven by the instinct of survival, attempting to escape its fate of destruction. However, flesh and blood could not withstand the super-high temperature Plasma flames. A moment later, G-William had been incinerated to a pile of ash. He didn't even have a chance to evolve into his fourth or fifth stages.

Putting the Shoulder Cannon and sword back into his system inventory, Marcus turned his head. "Alright, Sherry, come out." In the corner, a small figure darted. Shaking his head, Marcus stepped forward, picked up the Chainsword that had fallen to the ground, and walked towards the corner. Pushing aside the obstructing cabinet, Sherry, dressed in a blue and white school uniform, looked at Marcus with wide, terrified eyes.

"Am I that scary?" Marcus mused, shaking his head as he gently pulled the well-known "second-generation poison" of the Resident Evil series closer. "That monster is dead," Marcus stated, pointing at the ashes that were once G-William. Seeing that her "father," who had been relentlessly pursuing her, was gone, Sherry's initially panicked expression slowly faded. Having been chased for so long, Sherry had vaguely realized that G-William was indeed her research-obsessed father. Now, with G-William dead, the grief of losing her father and the profound relief of escaping his clutches intertwined, causing a significant emotional impact on the young Sherry.

Looking at Sherry, Marcus shook his head, then observed the necklace with strange patterns around Sherry's neck, which was the key to the Umbrella Corporation's underground base—the Nest. "I will take you to a safe place above ground, but you have to give me that necklace, okay?" Marcus said with a gentle smile.

"My... my mother—" Sherry murmured softly. Her mother was William Birkin's wife, Annette Birkin, also a researcher at the Umbrella Corporation. Sherry was here because she had been guided by her mother.

"I know where your mother is, and I will help you find her," Marcus said calmly. "But you, a child, cannot stay here any longer, understood?" After a moment of hesitation, Sherry nodded, agreeing to the small transaction. Marcus then led her back the way they came, towards the Raccoon City Police Department lobby.

As soon as he stepped out of the secret passage, Marcus saw dozens of survivors gathered there, as well as Isaac talking to Marvin. After Marcus handed Sherry over to Chief Marvin and received the necklace, he began speaking with Isaac. "I didn't expect that you could actually control the Marker, and those Slashers—" Isaac stated, taking off his helmet, looking at the Red Marker standing tall in the police station lobby.

"I have disabled many functions of the Marker, so you don't have to worry about it causing uncontrollable destruction," Marcus assured Isaac, knowing his concerns. With Marcus's assurance, Isaac somewhat let go of his deep-seated hatred for the Marker and Necromorphs.

"By the way, where is the Tyrant Xenomorph?" Marcus asked, remembering that Isaac had chosen to operate with the Tyrant Xenomorph earlier. Through their mental link, he could only sense that the Tyrant Xenomorph was moving rapidly within the city.

"I don't know," Isaac replied, hesitantly. "It seems to have found some prey and just disappeared from in front of me." Upon hearing this, a light flashed in Marcus's eyes. The only prey that could truly interest the Tyrant Xenomorph were probably the T-103 Tyrant models and the Nemesis. "I wonder if the Tyrant Xenomorph will leave a corpse," Marcus muttered to himself. "The Nemesis-Alpha cannot be wasted like this."

Saying that, he opened his system panel, looking at the system messages he hadn't had time to check during his fight with G-William.
