Even though they now understood that the Slashers wouldn't intentionally harm humans, Marvin and Elliot still recoiled, a deep physiological revulsion churning within them. They had witnessed with their own eyes the Marker's grotesque power, twisting innocent corpses and creating these abominations. Deep down, they felt it was profoundly unethical. Seeing their unspoken hesitation, Marcus understood their discomfort. However, he was unconcerned.
His decision to release the Marker and create the Slashers was driven by several key objectives. First, it was the fastest way to complete the system's mission. Second, it allowed him to rapidly raise an obedient legion of Necromorphs, significantly increasing his influence in the Resident Evil world. While the Ishimura could indeed deliver devastating area damage by slamming celestial bodies into Earth, that was a last resort. Marcus needed a self-sustaining, virtually unkillable army to exert consistent deterrence. For a world with a relatively low danger level like Resident Evil, Marcus felt uninhibited. In contrast, in a high-risk universe like Warhammer or StarCraft, such a tactic would likely invite immediate extermination orders and planetary glassing long before any Blood Moon Convergence could occur.
"Is this truly a human method?" Marvin couldn't help but ask, watching the Necromorphs begin to pour into the hall from various parts of the Raccoon City Police Department. Marcus didn't answer. He simply waved his hand, sending all the Slashers surging out of the Police Department building. It was crucial to note that, in the Marker's judgment, zombies were not considered true corpses; they had to be definitively "killed" before they could be fully transformed into Slashers.
The Slashers burst from the Raccoon City Police Department, immediately pouncing on the zombies wandering nearby. The physical prowess of the Slashers far outstripped that of the zombies; they could effortlessly sever a zombie's head with just two swings of their sharp bone blades. And these truly dead zombies, under the pervasive influence of the Red Marker, were rapidly twisted into new Necromorphs. Like a gruesome snowball effect, under the combined action of the Slashers and the Marker, countless zombies were swiftly being killed and then transformed into Necromorphs, creating a horrifying cycle centered around the Raccoon City Police Department. Even the originally dark Raccoon City sky seemed stained crimson under the Red Marker's insidious glow.
Watching the mission progress on his system panel rapidly increase, Marcus nodded with satisfaction. At this rate, in just one or two hours, all the zombies in Raccoon City would be converted into Necromorphs. Moreover, by then, Marcus would command an almost unkillable Slasher legion!
"Beep—" Marcus's communicator at his waist chirped. Picking it up, he received Isaac's voice. "This is Isaac, currently transporting a total of twenty-two survivors to the Raccoon City Police Department, one kilometer from the target location." Marcus acknowledged with a grunt, then ended the communication. Flashing down from the Police Department roof, Marcus found Marvin and Elliot. "You two stay here; the first batch of survivors will arrive soon." Marvin and Elliot nodded. Although they still harbored some resistance to the terrifying Necromorphs, at least these creatures wouldn't attack humans like the zombies did.
After ensuring the officers were prepared, Marcus reactivated his shoulder cannon, adjusted its power, and blasted a statue in the hall. As the smoke cleared, a dark, previously hidden tunnel was revealed beneath the statue. Marvin and Elliot both leaned closer; as Raccoon City Police Department officers, this was the first time they had known of this secret passage's existence. The two watched Marcus step into the secret passage and quickly vanish from sight.
Not long after, a noisy clamor of human voices came from nearby. The two immediately rushed to the door; it was Isaac and more than twenty survivors. All these survivors had expressions of extreme terror on their faces. They constantly tried to distance themselves from the terrifyingly twisted Slashers. "Hey! Come in quickly!" Marvin and Elliot immediately ushered the survivors and Isaac into the Police Department. The Ripper, who had been escorting these people, immediately detached from the group, roaring as he charged back towards the areas where zombies still existed. Elliot quickly began to comfort the new arrivals. Marvin, on the other hand, looked at Isaac and asked about his identity. "You should have met my companion," Isaac replied, taking off his engineer helmet to reveal his face.
Meanwhile, Marcus continued deeper into the secret passage, quickly arriving at a hidden, anciently and luxuriously decorated secret room. After forcibly opening a nearby elevator, he descended for a few minutes and arrived at the Police Department's underground sewage treatment area, which served as one of the entrances to the Umbrella Corporation's vast underground base in Raccoon City. Moreover, if Marcus remembered correctly, according to the plot, he would also encounter...
Sure enough, Marcus had barely walked a few steps when a twisted figure suddenly leaped down from above him. It was none other than William Birkin, who had already been infected with the G-Virus. Due to the proliferation and super-regeneration abilities granted by the G-Virus, this creature was an unkillable boss in the original plot, evolving through five distinct stages. Unfortunately for G-William, he now faced Marcus, who had already fought against the Great Devourer and the Necromorphs, not a rookie cop like Leon S. Kennedy.
For the current Marcus, G-William was an ideal opponent to test his physical qualities after his triple enhancement. Marcus put away his shoulder cannon and various long-range weapons, pulling out the gleaming Sunflare Battle Axe from his system warehouse. He then charged towards G-William, whose face was twisted and whose right shoulder bore a grotesque, giant yellow eye. With the boost of Marcus's immense strength, the Sunflare Battle Axe fiercely struck G-William's mutated right half. The blue psionic blade glowed, effortlessly carving off large chunks of crimson flesh. But then, after the still-sane William let out a miserable scream, the originally enormous wound, still spurting blood, immediately proliferated wildly under the action of the G-Virus. In just over ten seconds, it had completely healed.
Marcus did not seize the opportunity for a quick kill. "It's not easy to find a punching bag; I have to make good use of him," he muttered to himself. Previously, the Hunter on the Ishimura also possessed terrifying regenerative abilities, but unfortunately, the Hunter was a system mission objective, so Marcus had naturally used overwhelming force to kill it as quickly as possible. G-William, however, was different; such a convenient punching bag wouldn't be encountered by Marcus again for a while.
Once G-William had fully recovered, Marcus once again swung the Sunflare Sword, chopping horizontally. Next, Marcus behaved like a butcher dismembering an ox. He continuously cut G-William's body with the sword, using the combat as a brutal training exercise for his close-quarters abilities. The effects of [Corruption] and [Deceit] continuously triggered, green toxins invading G-William's body while blue magical flames rose, relentlessly burning his flesh. After enduring a vast amount of damage, G-William began to mutate further. William's head, which had originally been squeezed aside by the giant eyeball, had its living space further compressed, directly half-merging into his chest. And in its original position, accompanied by William's pained roar, a twisted and hideous new head grew out. His entire right arm began to swell rapidly, finally growing an extremely exaggerated giant claw. At this point, William's remaining self-awareness had almost completely dissipated. The G-Virus had entirely taken over William's will, transforming him into a mindless monster.
