"Lieutenant, we should focus on the task at hand. The Cadian soldiers will take care of that damned alien."
Titus pulled Marcus back and said in a deep voice.
"The thought of an alien escaping from me fills me with rage!"
Although he said that, Marcus's body honestly stopped. It was just an act anyway, to reduce the possibility of Titus and the others connecting him with the Exocrine from before.
After the Thousand Sons Sorcerer died, the Warp Rift disappeared. The remaining dozen Red Word Warriors on the field also lost their command and quickly fell into a stagnant state. Titus and the others showed no mercy, destroying these Red Word Warriors one by one.
After clearing out all the Chaos traitors, Titus opened his communicator. "Titus calling Captain Acheran."
A few seconds later, Captain Acheran's voice came through the communicator.
"This is Acheran."
"We were just attacked by Chaos forces," Titus said with a serious tone.
After a few muffled deck-clearing commands came through the communicator, Acheran immediately pressed on. "Are you sure, Sergeant Titus?"
"Without a doubt, it was the Thousand Sons and their Chaos minions."
"Find Leuze immediately and bring him out, as soon as possible!" Acheran's urgent voice came through the communicator.
"Yes, Captain."
After closing the communicator, everyone immediately set off, heading towards the Thassean Temple in another part of the dome.
During the journey, they occasionally encountered scattered Red Sorcerers and rebels. However, these Red Word Warriors were not being commanded or coordinated by a Thousand Sons Sorcerer, making them more like automated soldiers performing fixed patrol duties.
"Lieutenant, the Thousand Sons Sorcerer just now seemed to have suffered a psychic attack. Was that your doing?"
On the way, Titus recalled the Thousand Sons Sorcerer's abnormal behavior earlier, turned to Marcus, and asked.
Marcus immediately denied it. "Of course not, Sir, but I do wish I had that ability so I could better eliminate aliens and the Chaos Gods."
At this stage, Marcus did not want to expose his Energy Feedback ability. Fortunately, the Thousand Sons Sorcerer who suffered from Energy Feedback was not foolish enough to directly tell the others present that his psychic energy had been drained. Therefore, Titus only assumed that the Thousand Sons Sorcerer had merely suffered a regular psychic attack.
Seeing Marcus deny it, Titus did not press further.
"Perhaps it was the work of the tyranid?" Gadriel, who was nearby, mused.
"We can't rule out that possibility, but it's also possible that there are other forces on Avarax that we don't know about." Titus raised his gun, blew up the body of a human traitor, and then continued. "Later, write all of this into the combat log and report it to the Captain."
Marcus, who was beside them, followed Titus and the others while checking his system panel. What struck Marcus as odd was that this time, killing the Red Sorcerers and the Thousand Sons Sorcerer did not unlock any new entries in the compendium.
"Perhaps the compendium can only unlock Tyranid units?" Marcus pondered silently, currently unsure. Although some time had passed since he transmigrated, his understanding of the system panel was still very limited.
Shaking his head, Marcus focused on the gains from the previous battle. In that battle, he had completed two main quest objectives at once. He gained two drawing opportunities and two new titles. Marcus first checked the two new titles: Thousand Sons Slayer and Sorcerer Slayer.
The former increases damage against all Thousand Sons Legion warriors, and after accumulating ten kills of the same Red Word Warrior, it can completely eliminate him. Although it requires accumulating ten kills to completely eliminate a Red Word Warrior, this is still a powerful effect. One must know that the difficulty of the Thousand Sons lies in the Thousand Sons Sorcerer's ability to constantly revive their warriors. With this skill, Marcus would have an easier time facing large groups of Thousand Sons.
The latter targets all psychic enemies, increasing damage against them. And there is a small chance to cause an effect similar to the Energy Feedback skill, drawing psychic energy from the opponent's body and dealing damage.
Overall, Marcus was quite satisfied with these two new titles.
Immediately after, Marcus looked at the two drawing opportunities. Without hesitation, Marcus immediately chose to use them. The long-unseen drawing interface lit up, and after the mechanical box opened, two cards appeared on the system panel.
"Predator Shoulder Cannon"
"Source: Predator Universe"
"Effect 1: The shoulder cannon can automatically lock onto target units and fire adjustable high-energy plasma, causing massive damage to hostile targets."
"Effect 2: The shoulder cannon can automatically replenish its energy reserves when in dormant state."
"Note: Only a mature hunter can use this weapon."
Marcus's eyes lit up immediately upon seeing the content of the first card. The shoulder cannon is one of the iconic weapons of the Iron Blooded Predator. Like the plasma cutter drawn earlier, it is a ranged weapon. But it has more advantages.
Firstly, it has greater power, and it can automatically adjust the size of the plasma fired. When the power is low, it can only damage a single infantry enemy, but when the power is high, it can directly collapse a building. Its power is no weaker than, and even stronger than, the heavy plasma incinerators used by the Astartes.
Secondly, it can automatically recharge, so Marcus would not have to worry about ammunition.
Marcus was very satisfied with the Iron Blooded Predator shoulder cannon he drew. After equipping the shoulder cannon, his ranged firepower would become even stronger.
Immediately after, Marcus looked at the second item drawn.
"Alien Facehugger egg"
"Source: Alien Universe"
"Effect 1: The Alien Facehugger egg can automatically sense the strongest individual life force nearby and hatch an Alien Facehugger, which will inject an alien embryo into the target's body."
"Effect 2: The alien embryo will actively draw life force from the target's body for rapid incubation. Incubation time depends on the strength of the host organism's life force."
"Effect 3: The hatched alien will inherit and enhance the life characteristics of the host organism. The alien will be completely obedient to the host."
"Note: All who have used this product have given open-minded praise."
Alien! The alien here is not a general term for various extraterrestrials in the Warhammer Universe, other than humans. But a creature hailed as the most perfect organic life form!
Marcus instantly thought of how to use this Alien Facehugger egg. That is, to use it in conjunction with the compendium. Anyway, the Tyranid summoned by the compendium can be re-summoned after death, so it doesn't matter if they die from an alien bursting out of their chest.
Moreover, according to the description of Effect 3, the hatched alien will only be stronger than the parasitized unit! If it parasitizes an Exocrine, then the hatched alien will possess even stronger physical strength. If it parasitizes an Enhanced Lictor, then the hatched alien will possess even more terrifying psychic power.
So, what if it parasitizes a Tyranid Hive Tyrant? Or even a Titan-level unit like the Swarmlord? How powerful and terrifying would the hatched alien be!?
