Chapter 15 - Dreaming of Pet

Kong was furious. Someone had dared to invade and destroy the land he called home, and worse, they were creatures so small that they barely measured the size of his palm. Rage boiled through him. He would teach them a lesson they would never forget.

With a deafening roar that shook the skies, Kong declared war. In the next instant, he leapt with terrifying speed for a creature of his size, his massive body colliding with three helicopters at once. The machines shattered like toys beneath his weight, spinning into fiery wreckage.

But Kong wasn't finished. His long, powerful arms lashed out, snatching a fourth helicopter from the air. He crushed it effortlessly in his fist, metal crumpling with a screech before hurling the wreck into another aircraft. Both erupted in flames, the explosion painting the sky with fire.

Panic spread among the remaining soldiers. Realising the dire situation, they immediately launched a counterattack. Streams of bullets ripped through the air, rattling against Kong's thick hide. His skin was tougher than steel, but the relentless sting of gunfire made him howl in pain.

Snarling, Kong raised his forearms to shield himself. The barrage only fuelled his fury. In a sudden burst of movement, he lunged forward again, closing the distance. Scooping up massive boulders, he hurled them with deadly precision. The rocks smashed through gunfire and metal alike, tearing helicopters from the sky in violent explosions.

Kong was no longer simply defending his territory. He was showing the intruders why Skull Island belonged to him alone.

From his vantage point, Sasuke carefully observed each helicopter as it plummeted from the sky, marking the spots where they crashed. His Sharingan missed nothing.

Once the chaos dies down, he thought, I'll take everything they brought. Better in my hands than left for them to use against the island again.

The soldiers may have failed miserably in their assault, but Sasuke couldn't deny the value of their weaponry. Explosives, firearms, and technology—all of it could serve a purpose. Especially for someone like him.

"Should I follow them outside the island?" Sasuke wondered, recalling vague fragments of memory from the movie, something about ships arriving to take survivors away. The possibility stirred something inside him.

Excitement.

The thought of a new place, a broader world, sent a shiver through him. New foods, new sights, endless possibilities—it was tempting.

He knew it might seem strange but he was technically still a child. True, the memories of an adult lingered in his mind, reshaping his worldview, widening his perspective, reminding him constantly how small and weak he was in the vastness of the Omniverse. But that didn't erase who he was at his core.

He was still Sasuke Uchiha.

The second son of the Uchiha clan head.

The boy whose parents had been slaughtered by the brother he once loved most.

"Forget it. I should focus on improving myself. Chances like this can't be wasted," he muttered, shaking his head to drive the thoughts away. He immediately crushed the childish emotions trying to surface. There was no room for weakness. This was his chance to grow stronger without the fear of anyone finding him, and he wouldn't let it slip away.

"Still… what should I do with them?" Sasuke questioned himself, thinking of the soldiers and researchers who, according to the so-called plot, should have survived. He wasn't particularly interested in them—they held no real value to him—but leaving them unchecked could create problems later.

"Let's keep monitoring them for now," he decided aloud. Without hesitation, he formed two shadow clones. Pulling out a pair of scrolls, he handed one to each. They gave curt nods before leaping into the distance, heading toward the crash site. Their task was simple: secure whatever they could find and keep tabs on the survivors.

Turning his gaze to Kong, who had finished playing and completely cleared the sky, leaving not a single helicopter behind, he felt a pang of regret. If only he could bring Kong into his world as a summon. He believed in trusting his own strength, yes, but having someone to back you up was never a bad thing, especially when fighting countless shinobi. Naruto, in the future, would have his toads. Other shinobi, too, had their summons.

For a moment, he considered obtaining the snake contract from Orochimaru like in his memories. But he didn't want that to be his only option.

Shinobi battles thrived on unpredictability. The Sannin's summons had been famous for decades, which meant countermeasures against them likely existed. That was why he wanted something different.

Kong was the perfect candidate: massive, intelligent, loyal. And he would only grow bigger. As for chakra use, he wasn't worried. Recently, he had experimented with short-lived insects on the island. By inserting his chakra into them, letting them breed, and watching generations rise and die, he eventually saw something remarkable. Their offspring began to naturally carry chakra, faint though it was. That meant teaching Kong chakra wouldn't be impossible. And even if Kong never mastered it, his raw physical strength alone was enough to crush low-level opponents.

The problem was that he didn't have a method to bring Kong back. And even if he did, he couldn't take him. Kong wasn't someone he could defeat at his current level.

It would be good if the gacha gave him a pet. Or maybe even sent him to another world, someplace like the Pokémon one, where he could bring them back. Sasuke remembered there were countless worlds solely focused on summons, where everyone strove to find the best potential companion and raise them. The pets there came in all forms, with species and attributes as diverse as their abilities, ranging from elemental attacks to soul manipulation. Against them, even tailed beasts were nothing more than ants.

Sasuke truly hoped the gacha would let him stay in that kind of world for some time, long enough to claim the perfect summons for himself.

"Grrrrr…"

"…Tch. I forgot it's time to fill my stomach." Sasuke rubbed his abdomen, realizing he hadn't eaten thanks to his schedule being completely thrown off by today's events. Giving Kong one last glance, he turned away and began heading back toward the cave, planning to continue his practice there while leaving his clone to gather information.
