Chapter 26 - Really unbelievable

[1:28 PM – Interview Room, Still Live]

The interview was still going — and he was absolutely milking it.

> "She said yes… and trust me, no one was more surprised than me."

He chuckled, resting his elbow on the table, smirking like he could feel her death glare all the way through the screen.

> "So yeah, my love life is… very entertaining lately."

"HE'S SO TEASING!"

"He's giving mysterious boyfriend vibes!!"

"I'M GONNA CRY HE'S IN LOVE—"

"Whoever she is, she's SO lucky…"

Y/N simply narrowed her eyes at the screen, now calmly poking her straw into the juice box again like she wasn't plotting war.

But then—

---

[1:31 PM – Pediatrics Department Garden]

Footsteps approached.

The interns looked up — a man in his late 40s, clean-cut suit, sharp eyes, kind smile.

He had been watching quietly for a while. Now, he stepped closer, gaze resting on Y/N.

> "Excuse me, are you Dr. Y/N?"

She blinked, stood politely, nodding.

> "Yes, sir. That's me."

He smiled.

> "I watched how you handled that little boy earlier. And the way you're managing this chaos—" he glanced at the interns glued to her phone, still fangirling "—you're quite impressive."

Y/N smiled shyly.

> "Thank you, sir…"

> "I'm the director of an upcoming K-drama. I'm scouting fresh faces. I was here for research, but after seeing you, I wanted to ask something directly."

Everyone leaned in, curiosity bursting.

> "Would you consider auditioning for the female lead role?"

Dead silence.

Y/N froze mid-sip. The juice box finally gave up and collapsed.

> "WHAT?!"

"YOU?!"

"OH MY GOD, Y/N, SAY YES!"

"YOU'D BE PERFECT!"

But that wasn't the biggest twist.

> "And," the director added with a knowing smile, "The male lead… is Kim Bum."

Everyone screamed again.

Y/N's brain stopped functioning. She gave a stiff, confused nod like her soul had left the chat.

> "I thought I should mention it… so you could choose with comfort."

The interns were practically begging.

> "Please do it!"

"You have to!"

"This is fate!"

Y/N rubbed her temples, sighed dramatically, then gave in.

> "Okay, okay… I'll read the script first…"

Everyone cheered like it was a national holiday. The director smiled.

> "Good. I'll send it in a few hours."

And just like that — he left.

---

[4:55 PM – Doctor's Lounge]

She had almost forgotten… until a heavy thud landed in her lap.

The script.

It was thicker than her pharmacology textbook.

She stared at it in horror.

> "This… is heavier than my career."

Some interns peeked over her shoulder.

> "What's it about?"

"Any steamy lines?"

"Give us spoilers!"

Y/N hugged the script like a bomb and whispered,

> "Suspense."

They all groaned dramatically and walked off.

---

[6:15 PM – Outside Hospital, Parking Lot]

Her phone buzzed.

> "I'm outside. Come out." – Mr. Actor.

She grabbed her things, slung her bag over her shoulder, and hugged the massive script to her chest.

He had no idea what was about to hit him.

She slid into the car silently and buckled up, script still in her lap.

He glanced at her.

> "Hey… you okay?"

She just gave a long, dramatic sigh.

> "I want this seat to swallow me whole."

He chuckled.

> "Rough day?"

> "Rough? No. Wild? Absolutely."

"Also… Mr. Actor…" she turned to him, brow raised. "I know you're doing a new drama. But a rom-com? You hate romance."

He smirked.

> "Who said I hate romance?"

She gave him a suspicious look.

> "And you didn't tell me your director was looking for a female lead…"

He shrugged, driving lazily through the road.

> "I just found out today. Why… jealous already, little fox?"

She scoffed.

> "Jealous? Why should I be jealous…"

She turned slowly, smirking.

> "Of myself?"

B R E A K S.

He slammed the brake in shock.

> "WHAT?!"

She handed him the brick-of-a-script.

He stared at it like it was a meteorite.

> "You… you got casted?!"

"You?! You're the lead?!"

She sank into her seat with a loud, tired sigh.

> "Yep. That director you didn't warn me about just threw me into the plot."

Kim Bum held the script like it was cursed. His mouth opened — then closed — then opened again.

> "Wait… WAIT. This means—"

She raised an eyebrow.

> "We're doing a ROM-COM together."

He stared at her.

Then suddenly grinned like a man who just realized he was about to have way too much fun.

> "Oh… I'm gonna enjoy this."

[6:42 PM – Y/N's Apartment, Front Door]

The second the door opened, Kim Bum was already trying to flip the script open like a curious child with a new toy.

> "Let's just peek at one scene—maybe it starts with a kiss—"

Y/N immediately grabbed the script, narrowed her eyes, and shoved it into her tote bag.

> "Home first. Script later. No spoilers without snacks."

He pouted.

> "You're so mean to me."

> "And yet, you still followed me home," she smirked, strutting inside like she didn't just land a lead role out of nowhere.

Kim Bum sighed, locked the door behind him, and followed her in.

---

[6:50 PM – Y/N's Apartment, Kitchen Area]

Still in her cute flared dress and sneakers, Y/N tied her hair up, rolled her sleeves, and headed straight for the kitchen. The cozy hum of the apartment was warm and familiar. She began pulling out ingredients.

But before she could even rinse the vegetables—

> "Hey."

A tired voice.

She turned — and there he was, standing behind her, eyes half-lidded, still in his slightly ruffled shirt. He reached out and gently held her wrist.

> "What happened, Mr. Actor?" she teased softly.

He didn't answer right away. Just pulled her closer and wrapped his arms around her waist, resting his head lazily on her shoulder.

> "Haaah… Mr. Actor had a very rough day."

She smiled, instantly softening, and hugged him back with a light giggle.

> "Yeah, and a very unexpected twist too…"

> "Mmhm," he murmured into her shoulder. "My future wife suddenly becoming my co-star? That wasn't in the plan."

Y/N chuckled, rubbing his back gently.

> "It wasn't in mine either. But here we are…"

> "Yep… Plot twist of the year."

They stood like that for a moment — a quiet bubble in their buzzing day. The kind of hug that felt like home.

> "Alright," she whispered, gently pulling back, "let me go now. You go freshen up, and I'll make dinner."

> "And then script reading?" he asked, eyes lighting up again.

> "Script reading," she confirmed, booping his nose playfully.

He gave a tired, happy smile and shuffled off toward the bathroom like a sleepy fox.

---

[7:20 PM – Y/N's Apartment, Living Room]

The smell of sizzling masala filled the space. Y/N was humming softly as she stirred the pot.

Kim Bum walked back out, hair damp, dressed in one of her dad's old oversized T-shirts and grey sweatpants — looking very much like a man who had completely moved in.

> "You know," he said, flopping dramatically onto the couch, "this shirt smells like your childhood memories."

Y/N laughed from the kitchen.

> "That's because it is. Appa wore that every Sunday while doing the crossword puzzle."

He looked at himself.

> "I feel wise already."

> "Don't burn your wisdom," she teased. "Dinner's almost ready. Then we can dive into the disaster that is our rom-com fate."

> "I'm hoping for at least one kiss per episode," he muttered.

> "You wish," she shot back with a laugh.

He grinned at the sound of her laughter filling the room.

> "Yeah… I really do."
