Chapter 31 - Cheating little fox but okay

[12:36 PM – Mall Corridor | Suit Purchased | Dress Incoming]

They had just finished buying his suit—boxed and bagged.

He was still beaming.

Like a kid who got his dream toy and extra candy.

Still holding her hand.

Still bouncing slightly with excitement.

She, however…

Not so much.

Y/N (eyeing the large bridal boutique ahead):

> "Nope."

"I'm not going in there."

He turned toward her, shocked.

Kim Bum (drama activated):

> "WHAT?! Little fox—what do you mean?!"

She pouted under the mask, eyes darting toward the massive glass storefront.

White. Everywhere.

Gowns that weighed like entire planets.

Racks of lace.

Trains longer than K-drama episodes.

Y/N (muttering):

> "They'll eat me alive…"

"I don't even carry a purse. I wear sneakers to weddings."

"This is a horror escape room disguised as chiffon."

She turned around—actually turned, about to walk away.

Kim Bum:

> "Yah—no, no—hey!"

Too late.

She had taken a few steps back like she was evading a haunted house.

Y/N (arms up, serious):

> "No gowns. No corsets. No 10kg of fabric—"

But the second she turned—

She was off the ground.

Y/N (shrieking):

> "YAAAHHHHH—!"

He had scooped her up.

Like a bridal-style carry.

Right in the middle of the hallway.

In the mall.

Kim Bum (grinning through his mask):

> "You really thought I'd let you run?"

Y/N (arms crossed, pouting HARD):

> "Put me down, Mr. Actor."

Kim Bum:

> "You'll run again."

"Let's get more inside first."

Her glare was tiny.

Her pout was huge.

And still…

He didn't budge.

Not even a flinch.

He just marched toward the bridal boutique like he was walking her down the aisle already.

Y/N (grumbling):

> "Why are you like this?"

"This is public. People can see."

Kim Bum (cheerfully):

> "They're seeing a man escort his future bride. Nothing illegal."

Y/N (sulking):

> "You're lucky I like you."

He reached the main entrance, stepped inside.

Then finally—finally—set her down gently like she was made of glass.

Y/N (deadpan):

> "Put me down now, Romeo."

Kim Bum (grinning):

> "As you wish, Juliet."

She huffed, fixing her loose shirt and oversized jeans.

They were still wearing caps and masks, of course.

No one recognized them.

To everyone else, they were just a chaotic couple.

But inside that boutique?

Oh, Mr. Actor was thriving.

He lit up like he had entered heaven.

Kim Bum (excitedly whispering):

> "Little fox. We're in."

"Gown time."

"I'm going to pick the prettiest dress in this entire kingdom—"

Y/N:

> "You mean mall."

Kim Bum (pointing dramatically at rows of dresses):

> "No. Kingdom."

He ran to the racks before she could protest again.

Finger trailing along pearls and tulle and lace like he was in a Disney montage.

Kim Bum (shouting softly across the room):

> "This one's shiny. This one has sparkles. Ooh! This one is long enough to make an entrance from Busan—"

She just stood there.

Arms folded.

Pouting.

Headphones still dangling.

Because honestly?

She knew it already.

She couldn't win.

He'd drag her into anything.

He'd lift her in front of everyone.

He'd chase her through lace if he had to.

Because he was Mr. Actor.

And she was his Little Fox.

And when it came to this wedding?

He was the most excited one since minute one.

[12:44 PM – Inside the Boutique | Dress Showdown Begins]

Y/N was still standing there, arms crossed, watching Mr. Actor swirl through satin like a Disney side character on sugar.

But then—

Something caught her eye.

Quietly.

Subtly.

From the corner of the rack near the mirrors.

A dress.

Not poofy.

Not glittery.

Not backless.

Not loud.

It was elegant.

Fully covered.

Long sleeves.

Minimalist.

Flowy.

With soft embroidery only on the wrists and hemline.

A tiny hint of sparkle.

But mostly? Quiet grace.

Exactly her.

She stepped closer.

So did he.

They saw it at the same time.

Kim Bum (softly, eyes already lit):

> "That one."

Y/N (smiling, low voice):

> "I was thinking the same."

He turned toward her like a proud director on premiere night.

Kim Bum (playfully pushing her toward the fitting room):

> "Go. Try. Now."

Y/N (groaning):

> "Is it necessary…"

Kim Bum (firm, finger pointed):

> "Very."

"It's destiny. Don't fight fate, Little Fox."

She sighed dramatically, but handed him her headphones like she was surrendering in a battle.

Y/N:

> "Take care of these. If you break them, I break you."

Kim Bum (grinning):

> "Yes, ma'am."

---

[Inside the Fitting Room | 12:48 PM]

She stepped inside.

Mask off.

Cap off.

Hair let down.

The boutique stylist followed her in with the dress on a velvet hanger.

She changed.

Tugged the zipper.

Fixed the sleeves.

Pulled her hair back with a clip.

Then turned.

Faced the mirror.

And froze.

Y/N (barely whispering):

> "Whoa."

Because the dress?

Fit like it was stitched out of a dream.

Delicate.

Covered.

Graceful.

Soft shimmer only when light hit the hem.

Like it was meant to be hers.

Even she couldn't believe how stunning she looked.

But she quickly snapped out of it and pointed at the curtain.

Y/N (to herself):

> "He's not seeing this."

"Nope. Surprise for the wedding day. End of story."

She peeked toward the stylist, who was standing quietly—watching in awe.

And then suddenly—

Eyes widened.

Jaw dropped.

The stylist blinked fast and leaned in slightly.

Stylist (whispering):

> "Wait…"

"Aren't you…?"

Y/N's eyes went full deer-in-headlights.

Y/N:

> "Uh…"

"Maybe?"

Stylist (gasping quietly):

> "You're… the new actress… the intern from that podcast!"

"The one starring with Kim Bum in the new drama next month!"

Y/N scratched her neck, awkward.

Y/N:

> "Yep. That's me."

"But shhh… please. Don't tell anyone, okay?"

Stylist (giddy whisper):

> "Wait… are you getting married for real?!"

Y/N (laughing softly):

> "Yeah. That's kinda why we're… you know. Buying a wedding dress."

The stylist melted.

Stylist:

> "You're so pretty… and your smile… oh my god."

Y/N blushed, brushing a hand over the dress.

Stylist (gasping):

> "Wait—so then… who's the groom?!"

"Can I see?!"

Y/N (chuckling):

> "You sure you wanna guess first?"

Stylist (bouncing on her toes):

> "Yes! Let me try!"

"Is it one of the interns? You said you were one too—"

Y/N:

> "Nope."

Stylist:

> "Someone from your country?"

Y/N:

> "Not even close."

Stylist (grinning):

> "I need to know. Please please please—"

Y/N (leaning in, whispering):

> "Okay. But no screaming."

The stylist nodded rapidly—literally shaking from excitement.

She was only twenty—barely older than Y/N.

She looked ready to explode.

Y/N moved to the curtain slowly…

Ready to pull it aside…

While outside, Mr. Actor was pacing, headphones around his neck—completely unaware.

About to be exposed.

And the stylist?

Ready to pass out.

[12:59 PM – Boutique Floor | Dress Tried | Chaos Pending]

He was waiting.

Pacing.

Headphones around his neck.

Mask on. Cap still tilted back a little.

But his face?

Even with half covered?

Full pout.

The moment Y/N came out of the fitting room—

In the exact same dress she walked in with—

He blinked fast.

Kim Bum:

> "Wait—didn't you change?"

Y/N (grinning behind the mask):

> "I did."

"Just not letting you see it."

"You'll see on the wedding day."

He stopped walking.

Actually froze.

Kim Bum (offended child mode, activated):

> "You can't do this to me!"

"Little fox! I've waited all day for the Dress Moment!"

She tilted her head, smug.

Y/N:

> "Exactly. And now you have to wait a little longer."

"What's the fun if I show you now, Mr. Actor?"

He full-body sulked.

Arms crossed.

Shoulders drooped.

Even through the mask, she could feel the pout radiating off him.

Just then, the stylist came out behind Y/N, holding her cap and mask with a bright smile.

Stylist (grinning, handing her things back):

> "You looked so beautiful, unnie."

Kim Bum turned immediately.

Kim Bum:

> "Wait—how was she looking?"

Y/N chuckled while slipping on her mask and cap again.

Y/N (teasing):

> "Oh… she'll tell you."

"But don't cry after."

Stylist (giggling, eyes wide):

> "She's the one, after all."

Y/N smirked, patting the stylist's shoulder.

Y/N:

> "And now…"

"I promised to show you who the groom is."

The stylist lit up.

Pure excitement.

She bounced again like she might actually fly.

Kim Bum perked up instantly, forgetting his sulking for two seconds.

Kim Bum:

> "Wait. You're telling her?"

"Even though I didn't get to see the dress?"

Y/N gave him the look. Then turned toward the stylist, eyes scanning the boutique.

She leaned in.

Y/N (to stylist):

> "I'm warning you. Don't shout."

"Don't tell anyone."

"The person I'm marrying… no one would believe he behaves like this."

Kim Bum blinked, confused.

Kim Bum:

> "This?"

"What this??"

Y/N turned back to him, smirking.

Y/N:

> "Show her who you are, Mr. Actor."

Kim Bum (nervous now):

> "What if she tells someone?"

Y/N (teasing hard):

> "What, are you scared?"

He scoffed.

Then pulled his mask down halfway, tilted the cap back—

And smiled.

Soft.

Charming.

Signature Mr. Actor smile.

The stylist gasped. Froze. Then gasped again.

Stylist (stammering, barely breathing):

> "Oh no."

"K-Kim B-B… Really?!"

"Unnie, is this a joke?! Please tell me it's not a prank!"

He gave a little awkward laugh, one hand behind his neck.

Kim Bum:

> "Hi…"

"Yeah. It's me."

Stylist's jaw dropped.

Stylist:

> "No one—no one would believe this—"

"The calm, mysterious, professional boy…"

Y/N burst out laughing and completed the sentence:

Y/N:

> "And here he is, sulking and pouting like a toddler because he didn't get to see me in the dress."

Stylist clapped her hands together with excitement.

Eyes sparkly.

Voice low, but still giddy.

Stylist:

> "I'm so happy. You two are… like… real-life drama couple."

"Unnie… you're seriously so lucky."

Kim Bum (still pouting):

> "Y/N… can't I please see it?"

Y/N gave him a raised brow.

Y/N:

> "Mr. Actor…"

"You can ask her how I looked."

"But you? You'll see it only on the wedding day."

He turned immediately to the stylist like she was his last hope.

Kim Bum:

> "How was she?"

Stylist (grinning like she might explode):

> "STUNNING."

"Elegant. Glowing. Like a queen. That dress looked like it was made for her."

"Her hair… her smile… it was perfect."

He full-on whined.

Kim Bum:

> "If she looked that good, I want to seeeeee!"

Y/N crossed her arms smugly.

Y/N:

> "Mr. Actor, have you forgotten?"

"Public image, hmm?"

"How everyone thinks you're all serious and mysterious?"

Stylist nodded quickly.

Still starry-eyed.

Stylist:

> "This is so different from what fans see you as…"

"But honestly? I like this version more."

He blushed a little, finally calming down.

Just the three of them now.

No cameras.

No staff.

Just chaos, secrets, and heart-melting teasing.

Y/N looped her arm into his.

Y/N (soft giggle):

> "Okay. We should go."

"Mission successful."

He melted immediately.

Of course.

She smiled behind her mask.

Y/N (whispering again to stylist):

> "Don't tell anyone."

The stylist nodded so fast it looked like a bow.

Stylist:

> "Promise. Cross my heart. But… I'm your biggest fan now."

Y/N winked playfully.

Mr. Actor sulked once more.

And the dress?

Still a secret.

For now.
