Chapter 5 - Guest or Visitor?

Yuta sat in his hospital bed, aware of the likely ANBU presence beyond his room, not because he had sensory skills or anything but because he understood how things like these usually went, but he was unbothered by their surveillance.

The day meal sat untouched on his bedside, the food was edible but unfamiliar, lacking the flavors he remembered from home.

*Home.* The concept felt increasingly abstract with each passing hour.

"I don't think we're still in the same world Rika"

"I don't know what happened but I'm alive and you're still with me"

"...Yuta"

"I know, I'm sorry, I was not trying to take the selfish way out, it was needed."

"But we're here now. We need to adapt."

"Different. No curse users, no special grades. Just... people living their lives." Yuta said...

"Maybe that's what you wanted all along. A normal world."... Though he hardly believed it.

"...Yuta," she whispered, the sound carrying layers of meaning that no one else could interpret.

...

Soon it was a new day, marking it the third day Yuta had been in this world.

He had slept well and peacefully without having to worry about any sort of ambushes for now.

As for Rika, she had not notified him of anything suspicious, so he chose to let it be so.

However, he still cared for his hygiene in high quantities.

Remaining in a patient robe in the hospital was nice for a prisoner treatment so he could not exactly complain.

That is until the door to his room opened.

He either had a new guest or an old visitor and this time it was both.

Ibiki Morino, a familiar face walked into the room along with Shikaku Nara.

They didn't care to use the hospital bed or the interrogation chair and table as they stood in front of the door.

Both, though, had marking scars on their face.

Which prompted Yuta to think this world might be more dangerous than he thinks.

"Good morning, Yuta," Shikaku greeted first.

"Good morning" Yuta replied

"Your English seems fluent despite your accent being barely noticeable," Shikaku said.

"I grew up in many places and learned many languages, this is not my native language," Yuta replied.

"Understandable, Current Jonin Commander of Konoha, I hear you are open to options but sensitive about your brain "

"Yes"

"First of all, we'll need to know certain things about you, and I believe you won't lie?"

"That's my nature"

"You said something about a jujutsu society?"

"It is not an organization per se but refers to a world of jujutsu sorcerers"

"What is this jujutsu then?"

"Jujutsu is the practice of using cursed energy to exorcise cursed spirits. Cursed spirits are supernatural entities born from negative human emotions. When these emotions accumulate in places or objects, they manifest as monsters that can harm or kill people. Jujutsu sorcerers have this cursed energy," Yuta said in a long stretch and then looked at Shikaku, who was pondering as Ibiki watched tensely.

These were foreign terms to them, but it's beginning to explain a lot about himself, which he didn't mind.

"So this means you are a jujutsu sorcerer?" Shikaku asked.

"Yes I am"

"But then this would also mean you are not from this world"

"Yes, it would seem so," Yuta said, reading their reactions, but there was no surprise on their face, which could only mean they had long thought of this conclusion or had experience with people from other worlds.
