Walking through the alley a small Emily shivered while rubbing her arms as the temperature in the alley was much colder, unlike the market place which had cans of fire placed all around this one had none but instead was filled with the scent of smoke and reeked of alcohol which was pungent making the young emily scrunch her nose. They were broken bottles all around along with some charred shops and clothes. While the market side was filled with people buzzling around and even shops all around selling flashy goods to entice customer this side was a stark contrast it was quiet, with less shops and they were selling just alcohol and cigarettes along with some other things she couldn't grasp, it held a gloomy atmosphere like the people in it and all she wanted to do was run far away from here and go back to her mum. But she had to do this for her mum as it felt like this was of great importance to her mother with a strong resolve she kept walking. She could feel the creepy and intense stares coming from around the shops she passed raising goosebumps on her skin. clutching her palm to the sides of her cloth feeling her hands sweat even in the cold weather. Taking a turn she came to pass in the middle of a crowd of people arguing and smoking along with drinks and women feeling the place turn quiet she felt her palms grow even colder and her small heart beating fast in her chest.
Facing the ground she walked ahead with shaky footsteps. She felt them stare at her like predators looking at their very delicious prey wondering what a small delectable rabbit was doing inside a den of wolves. The people here looked different some were scrawny with ragged clothes while some were dressed in poshed clothes walking with guards or coachmen and even though she was little she noticed the different aura they carried with them,luckily enough no one approached her reaching the place her mother had described she saw a worn out shop, the paint seemed to have faded over the years because of the constant rainfall, the snow covered the rooftop and at the top of the wood work she saw a bold carved writing "LUX DOMUS" and something similar to fire was lit inside the letters, it stood out admist the faded and shabby building surrounding it.
Walking towards the entrance she fisted her small hand and reached for the door KNOCK KNOCK
The small sound of her hand knocking the door resounded. Receiving no response she attempted to knock again when she heard a distant voice;
COME IN!
Reaching for the handle she pushed the slightly opened door , when she stepped in the place was dark with a very little amount of light that peeked in from a small hole in the wall
HELLO! Her small voice reverberated across the room not receiving a response she attempted to run out in fear when all the place suddenly became bright at the clap of someone's hand.
