Chapter 15 - A reason without a reason

Luna wanted to believe him — and she did. Her heart whispered the truth louder than her doubts.

"I love you too, Alex," she confessed softly, her voice trembling. "But… I don't trust people easily. My past doesn't let me. I'm sorry. I should have listened to you sooner."

She wiped her tears — and then gently brushed away his. Alex rose to his feet, and before another word could escape, they fell into each other's arms. The embrace was desperate, raw, and full of relief.

The streetlights flickered above them, as though the universe itself was holding its breath. Alex cupped Luna's face tenderly, while Luna's hands rested against his cheeks. And then — they kissed.

Sweetly. Gently.

It was butterflies in the stomach, sparks in the air, and warmth in the chest. Luna's first kiss. Alex's first kiss. And it meant the world to both of them.

Luna laughed suddenly, her cheeks glowing. "I feel like I just won the whole universe," she giggled.

Alex grinned, brushing his forehead against hers. "Then I guess I'm your galaxy."

They kissed again, hugged tighter, and for that moment — nothing else mattered.

Later, Alex took Luna home. They sat in her room, talking about everything and nothing, teasing and laughing. At one point, Luna stumbled and fell against Alex, and they both burst into laughter.

The closeness deepened. Luna kissed him again, her playful smile sending shivers down his spine. Alex whispered, voice trembling, "You're making it hard for me to control myself."

Luna smirked, mischievous. "And who told you to control, baby?"

Alex chuckled nervously, shaking his head. "No… this isn't right. We should wait. After marriage, everything will be perfect."

Her eyes softened. She kissed his cheek. "You're too sweet, you know that? Fine. I'll wait."

The night melted into soft moments — drawing together, cooking little snacks, sharing laughter. Eventually, Luna drifted to sleep in Alex's arms. Her face looked angelic, peaceful, glowing in the quiet night. Alex wished he could stop time right then.

The Next Morning

Alex adjusted his tie in the mirror, preparing for work. Luna woke up, rubbing her eyes like a child. He smiled and brought her breakfast.

As she fixed his tie, she teased with a grin:

"You know, Alex, if you keep wearing ties like this, people might think you're auditioning for Mr. Perfect 2025."

He chuckled, kissing her forehead. "And what if I am? Would you vote for me?"

She pretended to think. "Depends… is breakfast included in the deal?"

He laughed, hugged her once more, and finally left for the office — already desperate for the moment he'd see her again.

Because now… they didn't need a reason to meet. They were each other's reason.

Luna went off to her university, her heart lighter than ever. Life was moving beautifully, stronger day by day.

But not all was perfect.

Alex's headaches — sharp, unbearable, and persistent — began to grow worse. He hid it from Luna, not wanting to worry her. He smiled through the pain, pretended everything was fine, and even agreed to plan a trip with her.

But deep inside, the storm was brewing. The headaches grew longer. Stronger. Darker.

And soon… they would no longer be something Alex could hide.
