Chapter 50 - CHAPTER 50 (S2)

He sighed very audibly. That's around the time when the bell rang, and I was packing my things. He stood there silently in irritation at my reply and looked like he was going to snap. But thankfully, one of his friends called out to him and dragged him along to the cafeteria. I let out a sigh, grateful he was gone.

He has been a pain since the moment we met.

oh well, all I could really do? deal with it. I walked out myself, following behind a group of students exiting the classroom as well. After I managed to exit the classroom, I was met with a familiar figure. Nicole. I walked over to him, as I was about to speak, but was shortly cut off on that thought.

"heyo. let's head outside?" he spoke slightly, smiling at me.

I just nodded, following beside him as we walked through the student-filled hallways. But, at one point, he stopped walking. I looked at him, trying to get an explanation. But he didn't say anything.

"oh! Hey Nicole!" spoke a female voice. I looked over, noticing a smaller female figure smiling at Nicole. It was the recent transfer student, Ruby. The only reason I know is because I have maths with her… not to mention, I sit behind her during that period.

"What's up?" Nicole smiled back.

"Want to have lunch together?" Ruby asked him. Nicole, obviously agreed eagerly.

"Great! then let me just go get Christian then we can have lunch." Ruby explained, running off into the hall, into the blonde haired figure.

Alright, first things first. Why on god's freakin' green earth did it have to be Christian out of all people? it could've been anyone else. I hate this shittin' world. I exhaled audibly, as Ruby came back holding Christians arm, dragging him along. Christian seemed to be irritated himself, figuring the scowl on his face after seeing me.

After we walked to the cafeteria, we settled down at an empty table. I sat down, naturally assuming Nicole would sit next to me— and boy, was I wrong. He sat next to Ruby. He looked at me, as if silently trying to convince me to stay. I tore my gaze away from his, and looked down at my food. Christian sat next to me, and obviously as far away from me as possible.

it looked like he was going to fall off the bench if he moved to his left any further. but, whatever, it's better that way anyways.

I just started eating, trying to ignore the fact that Nicole just ditched me to sit next to Ruby. not that I had anything against her, she seemed really nice, also at that a people pleaser, too. I continued eating, before noticing a moving figure in the corner of my eye. I naturally thought it would be an ant, but.. oh, no.

"ACK!—" I yelped, immediately moving over to Christians side. It was a roach. I hated roaches with my whole being. If it meant sitting next to Christian, then so be it.

I only noticed the spilled lunch after my initial panic. I had blankly stared at the roach, the insect that had now inched away from me. I kind of sat there, still not fully processing the scene. The cafeteria itself seemed quieter due to my earlier yelling. Christian, now looking at me, one eyebrow raised yet also an extra annoyed expression playing on his face. And I swear I sat there for one whole minute, staring at the bug on the table.

It moved.

By this point I had moved so much to my left, that I was basically pressed up against Christian now. But honestly? I was too busy panicking to realize it. Finally, Nicole broke through the silence, bending over the table a bit, swatting away the roach. It left, crawling away and disappearing into the cafeteria. I exhaled, not realizing I had been holding my breath. Once I finally managed to move away from Christian, he just rolled his eyes at me.. And to be fair, this time I guess reasonably so.

I scooted away from Christian, this time a bit flushed due to my sudden closeness with him. The bell rang not long after, me and Christian silent the whole time, while Ruby and Nicole were happily chatting away during lunch break. After we four had left the cafeteria, I walked to class with Nicole, Christian nowhere in sight. Although, as we passed by some lockers, I had noticed Ruby fighting with a blue haired dude, but didn't really pay much attention to it.

I arrived at my class, and said my farewells to Nicole for the rest of the day, since I had no classes with him today.

Before I knew it, school was over and I was walking myself home. As I entered my house, I tried to ignore the fact Christian was walking past me. I exhaled softly, a barely audible sigh escaping my lips. Once I entered, I was greeted by my two younger brothers. Dave and David.

"You're late." Dave commented. "Sorry, sorry. I had to help with some student council stuff."

"you could have been faster, though."

"hey, im sorry alright? I can't just say no!" I sighed. I swung my backpack off my shoulder, as I walked into my room, turning the lights on, the familiar dimly lit room bringing some relief to me. Placing my bag on my desk chair, I slumped over onto my bed, staring at the ceiling for a long, silent moment.

I panted, heart in my chest pounding so loudly I swore I was attracting zombies. Sweating, I looked around for any familiarity with my surroundings. Where was I, and how long was I passed out for? I slowly looked around, the sudden lighting making me squint my eyes, as I did.

When I couldn't figure out where the hell I was, my last hope was to find the others. Well, I could tell I was in a store, at least. freezers to my left, aisles never ending to my right. In front of me, a shelf with cleaning supplies. Why would I be alone? Speaking of which, why aren't they with me?

I slowly stood up, immediately stumbling and hitting back against pointy edges of what felt like sharp, metal corners. What the heck?

"agh—" I groaned, the feeling of being attacked with such sharp pain making me lose most of the balance I held with me. When I stumbled back, it made a rattling sound, but I feel like that should be the least of my worries.

I felt . . lightheaded. I looked down, hoping to find answers to my unknown suddenness of pain. Blood. I was bleeding from my right leg, and it didn't look like it would stop.

"Seriously?" Muttering to myself, I sat back down and slowly, on the cold, hard ground. There's no way I was going to shout, especially not knowing where the hell I am.

I looked around, trying to find anything that I could use to stop the bleeding. I saw a roll of bandage a few feet away.

I groaned mentally, since I'd have to scoot over there myself.

I did so, anyways . .

I grabbed the roll, unrolling it by biting it with my teeth and using my left hand to help. My right hand on the wound, to lessen the amount of blood I was losing.

Groan.

Oh boy.

My head snapped over to behind me, sighting a zombie. I tried scooting away, but only caused more ruckus . . .
