Chapter 17 - In Another World

His eyes open, and he feels the blade of the grass beneath him, touching his bare arms.

He pushes his upper body, and he looks around only to see silhouettes of mountains, clusters of trees, and the wide terrain covered in grass and some flowers.

"Peaceful, isn't it?" a stranger spoke while standing beside him.

Nicholas turns his eyes to his left side, seeing the stranger standing at 6 feet and 9 inches.

His hair is black, his eyes are green, and a green glowing mark resembling a diamond is visible on his chest; green lines are scattered from the mark which reaches his shoulders. He's wearing a white polo shirt with over

Nicholas sniffs, and he suddenly shivers as the breeze goes in his direction. The stranger beside him inhales the fresh air.

"Who are you?" Nicholas looked at the stranger.

"Me?" the stranger turns his eyes to him, "I am just a passerby."

Nicholas pushes himself back to his feet. He looks around him one last time before turning his attention towards the passerby.

With a calm tone, Nicholas says, "Can I know where's the way to Manila? I need to go back to Nelly. I don't know how I woke up here."

"Really? You don't know why you are here?" the passerby questioned him.

Nicholas stares at him blankly. "Are you messing with me? I don't know why I am here!"

Nicholas looks down. "What was that shaking?"

He looks up, meeting the green eyes of the passerby staring at him.

He flickers Nicholas' forehead. Nicholas' eyes close as he groans while rubbing his forehead. He opens his eyes, and the passerby is nowhere to be seen.

"You were chosen."

Nicholas turns his head around. "Where are you?! Are you one of those guys?!"

The passerby emerges from the ground. Nicholas turns around, and looks up, seeing the towering height of the passerby.

"Let's see," he grabs Nicholas' wrist and lifts it, "it seems that you are now 'marked'. But to answer your question, I am what you think and I am not what you think."

"Mark? What do you mean?!" Nicholas yanked his hand away from the tight grasp of the passerby.

"Just tell me how to go back to the hospital, mister! Nelly and I are supposed to be studying for the incoming exam!"

"Oh?" the passerby raises his hands, "Do not get driven by your anger."

"I am not angry!" Nicholas yells while clenching his hands, "I just want to go back! I will fail the exams if I don't come back!"

"Who is this Nelly?" the passerby stared into the eyes of Nicholas with lips formed into a slight smile.

Nicholas looks into his eyes. "Nelly is just my classmate and the president of the class."

The passerby raises his eyebrow. "Nothing more? Just a classmate?"

Without any hesitation, Nicholas nods. A long, thick stick emerges from the ground. The passerby grabs it and twirls it between his left fingers.

He points the stick at Nicholas. "You hold a different power. The power that has been passed down to many generations."

Nicholas blinks repeatedly and points to himself. "Me?"

The passerby swings the stick, and it illustrates a scene on the wind; a tall dark silhouette of a man with a green crystal on his chest.

"That green crystal is made from the powers of a powerful being. He was one of the powerful beings who were feared in our world during his reign."

The illustration vanished. The passerby begins to speak again. "Those powers that he has are now passed onto you."

"No! I'm dreaming, right?!" Nicholas chuckled while scratching his head.

The passerby remains smiling, and he tells him. "None of what you said is true. This is true if it isn't, then, why are you stabbed by a seed with the name of Kohlrabi?"

"Kohlrabi? Who is he?"

The moment Nicholas uttered that question, his eyes grew wide as the visions of Kohlrabi stabbing him appeared in his head.

The passerby sees Nicholas shaking with eyes widening, and his chest is expanding and decreasing faster.

"Those memories hit you hard, right?"

The passerby raises his hand to Nicholas' forehead and flickers his finger. "Get back to reality."

Nicholas blinks and he shakes his head, he stares at the passerby. "What happened? What was that?!"

The passerby grabs Nicholas' hand and moves it closer to his eyes. "Look, this mark that looks like a crystal serves as evidence that you have acquired the crystal that chose you to inherit the powers that are feared by many races."

Nicholas gulps. "What powers?"

The passerby's eyes narrow, his nose crunches as his brows curve downward.

"The power to control the mighty elemental beasts but you'll soon find out the other things that crystal beholds."

Nicholas gulps, his breath shaking. "You were laughing minutes ago, why are you so serious right now?"

The passerby remains frowning. "Your training begins now."

"Training? YOU'RE SO FAST!" Nicholas frowned.

Stone pillars come out of the ground; surrounding them into a formation of circles.

Nicholas quickly raises his hands, catching two wooden sticks.

The passerby aims his stick at Nicholas. "I want you to put your energy in those sticks. When you do, you will know the first element beast that you will be cooperating with."

Nicholas looks at the stick in his hand. "I will try."

He closes his eyes, and his eyes flinch. His teeth grit as his veins appear on his wrists down to his hands.

His eyes open, and he's standing on clouds. A wind in the form of a sphere is spinning at such speed in front of him.

Nicholas is flinching as the wind keeps hitting him.

The sphere disappears, and a giant light blue eagle is staring down at him. Its white eyes stare down at him.

"Majesty?" the eagle spoke, its voice soothing.

"Majesty?" Nicholas repeated those words as he slowly opened his eyes.

The sight of the eagle bowing its head causes Nicholas to turn his head from left to right.

Nicholas looks back at the eagle and swings his hands from left to right.

"M-Majesty?! I'm no royalty! Please, raise your head."

The eagle shakes its head, and it folds its feet, lowering its body to a sitting position.

"Who are you?" Nicholas eyed the creature from its head down to its body.

The eagle answers, "You don't know me? I am one of your servants."

Nicholas shakes his head. "I don't know."

The eagle's chest expands, and it releases wind, hitting Nicholas gently.

"What was that?" Nicholas asked.

The eagle shakes its head. "My apologies. It seems you didn't know who I was, my majesty.

"I am the eagle that soars the skies with the name 'Gale'.

"I am the first beast that you have but don't feel lucky because you don't have complete control over your power."

Nicholas sits on the puffy ground, feeling defeated. "I just want to go back to the hospital."

The eagle steps closer and stops beside him. He looks down at Nicholas. "You have a huge responsibility, majesty. You can't just abandon it."

Nicholas sighs while looking. "But I have a life, a student life!"

Nicholas turns his eyes to Gale, and with a sigh, he says, "I am confused. I don't know what's happening to my life anymore. These two wooden monsters were chasing me, and then I got stabbed.

"When I woke up, I was lying down in this place that I didn't know what to call!"

The eagle's head twitches. "That is why I am here. This world is a dimension made by all of our beasts' powers combined."

Nicholas' head tilts. "Are all of you that powerful? Like, to be able to build this dimension, it takes a whole lot of miracles."

Gale shakes its head. "It wasn't solely a miracle. It was the dedication of our past majesty in crafting this dimension."

Gale extends its talon, offering Nicholas something. Seeing the sharp claws of the talon, Nicholas stares at the eagle's eyes.

"What is this?"

"An offer of trust and cooperation. You are the new owner, our young master. But even if I am the only one who's here, I will do my best to guide you."

Nicholas holds one claw, and Gale produces a cry of joy. Nicholas' eyes widen, he can feel wind crawling on his skin, making his hair rise and move.

"What is this?"

Gale tells him. "The evidence that you are taking the path of wind while unlocking the other elements as well."

The eyes of Nicholas open. Those eyes of his are now white. He stands up and looks around as the passerby is smiling at him.

"I can't believe this. The soaring eagle has trusted you so easily." The passerby combined the two wooden sticks as one, thrusting it into the ground; leaving it standing.

He cracks his knuckles and flaps his hands as he bounces. "Show me."

Nicholas blinks. "What?"

The passerby stops jumping. "The new abilities you gained, silly."

"Oh." Nicholas clapped.

The passerby raises his eyebrows. "What are you doing?"

With everything clap Nicholas does, nothing happens, just the sound is all that he's creating.

"Generating wind!" Nicholas glared at him.

Gale speaks through their connection. "I erm… majesty, try channeling your energy as you think of how the wind moves, and embody it."

"That's right," Nicholas spoke in his mind.

He spreads his hands at each side, pouring his focus into the thought of wind in his mind. With another clap, Nicholas doesn't produce anything except for the sound.

A soft wind disturbs the grass beneath the passerby's sandals. He smiles, and looks down, and quickly at Nicholas.

"You are doing–!"

A huge force of wind blasts the passerby away before he can finish his words. He groans after being sent flying away, and he raises his right thumb finger.

Nicholas releases a lot of breath, and he falls to his knees as droplets of sweat fall from his forehead.

He places his hand on the ground, pushing himself back to his feet. He whispers, "I feel tired after using just one technique."

Their practice continues, and Nicholas continues releasing more wind blasts with every clap. Soon after, Nicholas falls on the soil with his chest facing the sky.

The passerby places a wooden mug beside Nicholas' head. Nicholas lifts his upper body and grabs the mug. He swallows the water from the mug in an instant, and he falls back on the soil.

The passerby is sitting near Nicholas. He inhales deeply while gazing at Nicholas with a mug in his hands."You did a good job."

In the human world, somewhere far away. On the wide terrain of soil covered in grass.

Ash releases flames from his eyes, burning the woods that are pinning his body on the soil.

He groans. "I need to stop him! If he opened the portals! Mankind will be in danger!"

Acacia suddenly destroys the blue cube with one grasp of his hand covered in yellow energy.

Kohlrabi's eyes grow wide, and his mouth drops open. He stands up and strikes Acacia with his right wooden fist covered in stones.

Acacia swings his foot, sending a strong kick to Kohlrabi's waist. The kick sends Kohlrabi flying away, crashing against a wall of trees.

A group of trees emerge from the ground with spikes, and they strike Acacia.

Acacia releases multiple bell-shaped plants from his back, and they all have sharp teeth.

They dash towards the trees, and bite them in half, destroying them. Acacia turns his head in a certain direction, and his green eyes shimmer.

Yellow energy covers his entire body. He crouches and jumps, releasing a strong impact upon the ground, leaving cracks, and a big crater.

Ash is crouching beside Elesia, and he shakes her shoulders. "She isn't waking up. Sorry, I wasn't able to do anything to protect you."

Ash's eyes widen, and his eyes catch a glimpse of a big energy dome from a distance.

"So bright!" he groaned.

Acacia is standing in the center of a massive crater, and he looks around. "Did he die? Or did he avoid my attack?"

Kohlrabi falls behind him. Acacia turns around but Kohlrabi chops his neck, sending Acacia stumbling backwards.

"Killer. You killed Coseria!" Kohlrabi jumped towards him, and he thrust his knee.

Ash swings his left hand morphed into a large stone blade covered in yellow energy, chopping Kohlrabi's knees.

Kohlrabi generates a new pair of forelegs, and he lands on the ground.

Kohlrabi covers his hands in stones and punches Acacia with great speed but Acacia is just moving his body away from each punch.

The bell-shaped plants emerge from Acacia's back, and their mouths open.

Kohlrabi flies away as the plants dash at him at full speed with each of their sharp teeth ready to feast upon his body.

Kohlrabi's yellow-green eyes shimmer, and they release lasers down at Acacia.

The lasers cause a huge explosion after hitting something. Kohlrabi begins to smile after staring at the large smoke that his attack has created.

"You bastard. You thought that you could defeat me?" Kohlrabi spat, "Wait, spitting feels good after killing your enemy, I guess, I own that Elesia a good favor."

His smile disappears as he feels something shaking in his wrist. He looks at his wrist and moves it closer to his eyes.

A huge plant emerges from his wrist, and Acacia's half-body comes out of the plant.

His right wooden hand becomes longer, forming a large blade covered in yellow energy.

Acacia jumps out of the plant with his full body. Facing Kohlrabi, he swings his right blade at him.

"You're finished!" Acacia said.

A smirk manifested instead of fear on Kohlrabi's face. He snaps his fingers, and suddenly, Acacia freezes in mid-air.

Fungi starts spreading on his entire body at a fast rate. His eyes are narrowing while he's shaking, and he still moves his blade towards Kohlrabi's throat.

"I have him but I can't move!" Acacia screamed in his mind.

Kohlrabi laughs loudly. "You imbecile! I just used the technique of our king that was entrusted to me!

"Now, you are sealed, unable to move, Acacia. Who's going to stop me now?"

Kohlrabi stares at his chest, flames are still consuming his chest. Kohlrabi sighs, and he puts his hand on his burning chest.

"I offer my left eye for a fast replacement of my chest," he said.

A bright green energy covers his burning injury, and he puts his hand down after the energy disappears. No burns or any scratches can be seen on his now newly regenerated chest.

He lands on the ground. He moves his eyes at Acacia who is frozen with fungi covering his entire body.

Kohlrabi walks toward Acacia, and he touches Acacia's head covered in fungi.

"I want to crush you but I will spare you to let you feast at the sight of the humans' ending!"

Kohlrabi snickers. "Do you think that you are enough to defeat me even if you have Coseria's essence?

"You will not win and if you do, you will live as a monster like me and the rest of our race!

"Humans will not prosper anymore!"

Kohlrabi inserts his hand in his chest and brings out a blue petal. "Also, I forgot to tell you, one petal is enough to open the gates. If you are not here, and those pathetic guardians, who can stop me?"

Kohlrabi begins to ascend from the ground, and he flies in a certain direction.
