Chapter 11 - The Chain Of Calamity

The shattered remains of Seraphion's divine sword still smoked in the cold air as Seth stepped through the ruined Gate.

The reporters who had been gathered outside recoiled as the Gate's residual energy bled out, the pressure making even the strongest Slayers nearby stagger. To them, Seth looked like he had crawled out of a slaughter — the ground was scorched, the air heavy with the scent of blood, and angel feathers drifted lazily in the wind.

But Seth wasn't injured. Not a scratch.

Only his calm, deliberate breathing betrayed the fact that he had just erased an Archangel from existence.

He ignored the murmurs, walking past them as if their questions didn't exist. His mind was already elsewhere — the battle had been satisfying, but it wasn't the end. It was only a step.

Inside the Chrono estate, the faint scent of freshly brewed tea greeted him. His mother looked up from the sofa, golden eyes narrowing.

"You're back early."

"I'm leaving for Japan in a few days," Seth said without preamble, heading toward the stairs.

"Japan?" His sister, leaning against the wall polishing her sword, tilted her head.

"There's a god in Tokyo," Seth replied casually, as though mentioning a grocery run. "He dies first."

Their father set down his newspaper, a slow smile creeping across his face. "Let's hope you make him suffer"

Seth didn't reply. He had no intention of making it anything less than a massacre.

That night, in his room, Seth sat on the edge of his bed, the Godslayer System open before him. His pale golden eyes reflected the status window as he reviewed his current skills and chains.

But killing a god required more. He needed overwhelming power — not enough to match them, but to crush them.

Four SSS-rank Gates had appeared in the country. Four in a single day. Normally, even the strongest Slayers would take weeks to clear one. Seth would take all four before sundown tomorrow.

The First Gate – The Abyss Howls

The Gate pulsed like the heart of a dying star. Seth stepped inside, the ground already rumbling beneath him. The Abyssal Behemoth, a mountain of scales and teeth, roared as the Godslayer entered its domain.

The Red Moons materialized in his hands with a flare of crimson. Seth's body blurred — one heartbeat, he was standing; the next, he was on the creature's back, carving through its spine.

The Behemoth didn't have time to register pain before its head hit the ground.

The Second Gate – Eternal Blizzard

An endless snowfield stretched to the horizon. Seth's breath misted as an ice dragon, older than civilizations, descended from a glacier.

It breathed frost that could freeze mountains. Seth walked through it.

His blades flashed once — twice — and the dragon's wings fell in twin sheets of ice. Its scream echoed, then silenced as Seth's dagger pierced its eye.

The Third Gate – Ashen Sky

Volcanoes erupted in the distance, blackening the sky. The Ash Phoenix emerged from the flames, its body wreathed in molten gold.

Seth caught it mid-flight, dragging it down by the throat. The Red Moons spun in his hands like threads of death, slicing through immortal feathers. Its body exploded into ash, scattering in the molten wind.

The Fourth Gate – Cathedral of Light

The marble floor was slick with blood from those who had tried and failed. High above, a Divine Knight waited — his armor glowing, his voice a hymn of condemnation.

"You are not worthy to—"

Seth moved.

The voice cut off as the Knight's head hit the cathedral steps.

The system froze for a second, then erupted with a deep crimson light.

[New Divine Chain Formed.]

[Name: Calamity Incarnate]

[Description: Born of countless divine deaths, this chain binds the very concept of destruction to your soul. When activated, your presence becomes a natural disaster in human form — storms rage, earth cracks, and all divine beings feel their mortality. In its wake, nothing holy survives.]

[Effect: Increases all stats by 500 for 90 seconds. All divine beings within range suffer rapid energy decay and are marked for execution.]

Seth exhaled slowly, feeling the weight of the new chain settle in his core. It wasn't just power — it was inevitability. The kind of force that didn't fight battles, but ended them.

The next morning, the Chrono family's private jet sat on the runway, gleaming under the sun.

His mother stood by the door, eyes sharp. "Tokyo, huh?" she asked again, though it wasn't really a question.

"Tokyo," Seth confirmed, stepping past her. His sister gave him a quick nod — approval, not farewell. His father didn't speak at all, only watching with the faintest smirk.

As the engines roared to life, Seth settled into the leather seat, the city shrinking beneath him. His fingers idly traced the Red Moons at his side.

One god would fall soon.

The others would follow.
