Chapter 10 - Above And Beyond

Shadows Beyond the Gate

To ordinary eyes, the battle might have seemed like Seth was struggling against the angelic host and their commander, Archangel Seraphion.

The battlefield was a mess—cratered ground, shattered marble pillars, and golden blood soaking into the soil beneath him. The air still hummed with lingering divine energy, scorching the sky itself.

But the truth was… it had been nothing more than a one-sided beatdown.

Seraphion's once-pristine white wings now lay tattered and red-streaked, his holy aura flickering weakly as he collapsed to his knees. Seth hadn't taken a single wound.

The system flashed across his vision, interrupting his thoughts.

[Skill unlocked: Godslayer's Wrath]

[Effect: All enemies with divine energy or the divine itself will have their damage tripled for 60 seconds]

(What a nice skill.)

Seth smirked inwardly. The angels had been slow, predictable—almost disappointing. If this was the standard of "heavenly" might, then the gods were in for a very rude awakening.

He let his breath slow, though his panting would have fooled any onlooker into thinking he'd barely survived. In truth, he was joking around and making a fool of the dead angels.

The gate's golden edges began to splinter, threads of light breaking apart like shattered glass. Then, the system chimed again.

[Loot Acquired: Divine Feather of Judgement]

[Loot Acquired: Fragment of Unknown Divine Chain]

"That's not at all what I want." he said with a smile tilting his head and flicking his hand.

He then absorbed all the divine energy in the gate and made it his own but then…

[Skill unlocked: Energy conversion]

[Description: Allows the user to turn the energy collected to Amp his stats up]

The collected energy he gathered was put into agility has he needed to be faster than the Gods themselves.

His agility has risen by 300 which was very surprising for him because he had found a very convenient way to level up his stats other than training to level up.

AGILITY: 500~800

And then…

A low hum filled the collapsing space. He froze—not out of fear, but because the air itself shifted, heavy with the weight of multiple presences. Voices whispered in an ancient tongue, their mocking cadence clear despite the language. He understood fragments now, words bleeding through like cracks in a wall.

"The Godslayer…"

"…and yet… still bleeds mortal."

The gate trembled violently. A jagged tear ripped open inside it, and through the rift stepped three humanoid constructs—half-angel, half-human, halos burning in different hues.

"They sent toys to test me?" Seth muttered, sliding his hands into his inventory and pulling out the Red Moons, his crimson twin daggers. The moment they materialized, the constructs froze for a heartbeat—as if something deep in their memory recognized them.

The fight was quick. Too quick. The constructs fell, their bodies shattering into shards of light. But Seth had noticed—each strike he landed caused strange ripples in the air, like his attacks were being recorded and transmitted elsewhere.

When he finally stepped out into the mortal world, a crowd was waiting.

Slayer HQ staff, media drones, and even some SSS-rank Slayers stood in shock. Whispers swept through them like wildfire—Seth had entered an SSS-ranked angelic gate alone and emerged without so much as a scratch.

It didn't take long for the summons to arrive.

The Slayer Council demanded his presence in the capital's Divine Ranker Hall. The massive chamber brimmed with power—fifteen SSS-rank Slayers, each with reputations that could shake nations. Some looked intrigued. Others looked at him like he was a ticking bomb.

One, a towering man one of the three disaster class slayers, leaned forward.

"You don't know what you're stirring, boy. Gods don't forgive insults."

Seth only smiled faintly. "Then they can come down here and try."

The truth was, Seraphion had been nothing more than a warm-up. If this was the caliber of the gods' "chosen," he still had a long climb before he reached the real threats.

His next step would be into a Black Gate—a chaotic rift where gods dumped their failures and forbidden creations. The most dangerous territory on Earth.

As he turned to leave HQ, the system issued one last notification:

[Hidden Quest Unlocked: Godslayer Path – Hunt the Fallen Deities]

[Reward: ???]

Seth's smirk deepened.

"Looks like the warm-up's over."
