Chapter 6 - Episode 6: The Unseen Bond

At Joe's Diner, Alice, Brenda, and Joe were busy prepping for the lunch rush. The aroma of freshly brewed coffee and sizzling bacon filled the air, making everyone's stomach growl with anticipation.

Just as they were getting into the swing of things, the school bus pulled up outside, and two bright-eyed 3-year-olds, Jackson and Emily, burst into the diner, racing to hug their mom.

Emily squealed with excitement, bouncing up and down. "Mommy, Mommy! We had so much fun in school today! We played with blocks, and I made a castle!"

Jackson, on the other hand, approached his mom with a calm demeanor, his big brown eyes shining with a mature intensity. "Mom, I also had a good day at school. We learned about maths and it was so easy and all my classmates said i should teach them that they didn't understood it and i taught them."

Alice beamed with pride, giving her kids a gentle smile. "That's wonderful, Jackson and Emily. Mama's so proud of you two."

As the afternoon wore on, the diner started to wind down. Alice, Brenda, and Joe worked together to clean up, chatting about their plans for the evening.

Once they closed up shop, Alice ajd Brenda bided Joe goodnight herded the kids out the door, and they made their way to their cozy apartment. After a homemade dinner of pasta and meatballs, the kids settled in to do their quiet activities, with Alice providing guidance and support.

As the night drew to a close, Alice tucked her kids into bed, giving them each a goodnight kiss. She then settled in for her online night class, focusing on fashion design basics. While Brenda slept at her own room.

The next morning, the scene shifted to the opulent Montago's Mansion. The sound of bustling maids and the aroma of freshly baked pastries filled the air.

Diego, resplendent in his plush robe, lounged on the couch, scrolling through his phone. Suddenly, the door burst open, and a whirlwind of energy exploded into the room.

Sophia, Diego's 15-year-old sister, flung herself at her big brother, wrapping her arms around his waist. "Diego, I'm home! I missed you so much!" she exclaimed, her eyes shining with excitement.

Diego chuckled, hugging his little sister tightly. "I missed you too, Sophia. How was your trip?"

Sophia launched into a breathless account of her travels, regaling Diego with stories of shopping sprees, amusement park adventures, and sleepovers with friends. But then her expression turned mischievous.

"Diego, I have to tell you something," Sophia said, her voice dripping with drama. "Alex was so mean to me in Italy! He pulled my hair and hid my favorite shoes. I'm going to get him back, just you wait!"

Diego chuckled, ruffling Sophia's hair. "Oh, Sophia, you're such a little troublemaker. I'm sure Alex didn't mean to hurt your feelings."

Sophia pouted, crossing her arms over her chest. "He did too mean it! He's always bullying me. You need to talk to him, Diego."

Just then, Alex, Diego's 21-year-old brother, strolled into the room, giving Diego a lazy grin. "Hey, bro. What's up?"

Diego raised an eyebrow, nodding towards Sophia. "Alex, it seems you have some explaining to do. Sophia here has been complaining about your behavior in Italy."

Alex looked sheepish, rubbing the back of his neck. "Aww, come on, Diego. I was just joking around."

Sophia glared at her brother, her eyes flashing with indignation. "You were not joking around, Alex! You were mean and hurtful!"

Diego intervened, his voice calm and authoritative. "Okay, okay. Let's not fight about this. Alex, apologize to Sophia."

Alex sighed, rolling his eyes. "Fine. Sorry, Sophia."

Sophia's expression softened, and she smiled, satisfied. "I accept your apology, Alex. But next time, be nicer to me!"

The maids bustled in, efficiently whisking away the luggage and settling the siblings into their respective rooms. As the morning sunlight streamed through the windows, the Montago's Mansion was filled with the warm, vibrant sounds of family, laughter, and love.

The weekend arrived, and Alice was excited to spend quality time with her kids, Jackson and Emily. She had planned a special dinner date with them at their favorite restaurant, and Joe and Brenda had kindly offered to join them.

As they sat down at their table, Alice couldn't help but feel grateful for the loving family she had built. Her kids chattered excitedly about their week, and Alice listened attentively, beaming with pride.

Unbeknownst to Alice, Diego Montago was also dining at the same restaurant, albeit in a private booth with some high-profile business associates. As they discussed mergers and acquisitions, Diego excused himself to visit the restroom.

Coincidentally, Jackson and Emily also needed to use the restroom, and Alice gave them permission to go, reminding them to wash their hands thoroughly.

As Diego entered the restroom, he noticed the two kids climbing onto the stool at the sink, their movements eerily in sync. He watched, mesmerized, as they raised their faces to the mirror, washing their hands in unison.

Diego's eyes widened as he took in the kids' features, his mind racing with the unmistakable resemblance they bore to him. Jackson, in particular, was a miniature version of himself.

Just then, James, Diego's PA, walked into the restroom, looking for his boss. His eyes landed on Diego, who was staring intently at the two kids. James's eyes widened in shock as he took in the scene.

Diego, still transfixed by the kids, asked in a low tone, "Who's your mother?"

The kids replied in unison, "Alice Smith."

Diego's eyes narrowed. "And who's your father?"

The kids looked at each other, then back at Diego, their faces innocent. "We never knew our father."

Jackson, ever the bold one, asked, "Are you our daddy?"

The restroom fell silent, the only sound the gentle hum of the hand dryers.

Diego's eyes locked onto the kids, his mind reeling with the implications. He asked, his voice barely above a whisper, "How old are you?"

The kids replied, "We're 3 years old."

Diego's eyes widened as the pieces fell into place. He remembered the one-night stand he had with a mysterious woman three years ago. The timing, the resemblance – it all added up.

Without drawing attention to himself, Diego discreetly plucked a few strands of hair from the kids' heads. He signaled to them to leave, not wanting to worry their mother.

As the kids skipped out of the restroom, beaming with excitement, Diego turned to James and gave him a curt order. "Get Leo on the phone. I need him to run a DNA test on those kids and investigate their mother and her workplace."

James nodded, his eyes still wide with shock, and quickly exited the restroom to make the call.

Diego stood there, his mind racing with the possibilities. He had a feeling that his life was about to change forever.

"If they're really my kids, I'm getting close to the mysterious woman from that night" he muttered to himself
