A day had passed since the brawl. Classes were postponed because to the day after, because of the results.
Hikaru stirs in his bed, which he questionably loves.
Hikaru tapped his bruised eye, he flinched as he did.
"Ow… I can't show up looking like this. So much for my healing magic when I can't even heal myself." He complained.
"Caelia, huh? That was one babe, alright." He starts giggling sickly.
The morning bells rang. It was time for breakfast.
Hikaru rose from his bed, already dressed. Then headed for the cafeteria.
The cafeteria was lively—students chattering, trays clattering—but at the area, a strange warmth lingered.
"Man… I won't have anyone to sit with." As he said that, he saw Albert. By himself.
"Hey, Albert!" He yelled. "What's up, dude?" Albert answered.
"Nothing much. I'm not feeling like eating breakfast today-" Hikaru felt a warm hand on his shoulder.
"Yo. Hikaru?" A voice spoke. "H-Hey! Caelia!"
He said, excitedly as his eyes lit up.
She smiled. "Glad you're enjoying my presence."
"Oh? Who's this?" Albert asked.
"She's my new friend. Caelia." He answered.
"Are you sure you don't mean girlfriend?"
Hikaru choked. Caelia coughed. They blush. "IT'S NOT LIKE THAT!"
Hikaru continued coughing. "What a question… I just sat down!"
Albert chuckled. "Sure, sure, it's totally not like that."
Hikaru spoke as Caelia sat down. "Hey, you don't have anyone better to sit with?" He asked.
"Nah, no one wants to sit with me because I'm a commoner." She responded.
Hikaru felt a little sympathy. He'd realize how lucky he really is, being from an ex-veteran's family.
He nodded in understanding. "And, Albert. Aren't you super popular?"
"I'm just trying to eat. Don't wanna speak with my mouth full at a table where I have to make good impressions."
"Is that so?" Hikaru said. Not feeling a drop of sympathy for something he's envious of Albert for.
Hikaru wondered, what was he eating?
He looked down at his trey, it consisted of rice and bread. Coated in soy sauce.
He shook his head.
I'm trying to think of plans.
He spoke up. "Hey, does anyone want to go explore the outside later?"
"Actually, I'm going out to eat with my family one last time." Albert replied.
"Ah, okay." Hikaru said. It had gone silent for a second as he looked down, thinking of his own plans.
"I guess I could go." Caelia spoke up, the slightest hint of a blush on her cheeks.
"Nice! It'll just be us then." Hikaru answered enthusiastically.
The cafeteria quieted down, as students started to leave. "I guess we'll go before our first class then?"
"Yeah. That's the plan." Caelia answered.
Albert's calculating and cold gaze on both of them lingered, a rare look for him.
The one-sided tension broke. "Siegfried! I'm sorry!" A manly voice yelled.
It was the same guy, who had "mistakenly" beaten Hikaru for bumping him.
"Oh yeah man, it's whatever-" He was cut off.
"Please don't tell your uncle! If you do, I might lose my spot in the school!" He bowed.
Many heads turned, a crowd gathered, they murmured.
"Wait, Hikaru, who are you?!" Caelia asked quickly. Even Albert turned an eye.
"What?! I'm no one!" He answered. "So you aren't mister Siegfried's nephew?" The assaulting man added.
"I am! Yes! My uncle was a captain in the Order!" Hikaru yelled.
"Hey look, that D class has the power to expel people."
"Yeah, better stay on his good side."
They whispered.
"Okay, I forgive you for beating me up. Just stop talking!" Hikaru whispered.
"Oh- Okay." He said, before casually walking away.
"You might be interesting after all." A faint voice spoke.
But Hikaru didn't turn back. He didn't know where the voice came from, the slightest sound looked like it came from the heart. Deep in the heart.
It was then, Albert walked away. The bell rang, and the time they had planned to use to explore outside the academy, had passed.
"Bummer." Caelia said. "Really." Hikaru agreed.
"Let's walk to class together then." She asked.
"Nothing else to do." He accepted.
Most of the cafeteria were almost empty. It was probably the right time to start moving.
They walked together in step, on the carpeted floors.
"Damn, it's a little quiet…" Hikaru thought, looking down.
He see's both their hands. Close.
"No! This is not the time to fantasize about holding hands! I'm about to have my first class in this year." He said in his mind. Blushing.
"Here we are." Caelia said, pointing to the open class door.
The class was filled with quiet, there were some talking, but most were focused on the board, or waiting for a teacher.
Hikaru and Caelia took their seats next to each other in the middle-back row.
The class got quieter as the door closed. The teacher figure had walked in.
"Hello class, my name is Elly Yousa. Call me Dr. Yousa please." "Today I will be introducing myself, then we'll have a crash course in the abilities we use to exercise demons called magic." She spoke.
The class got fully quiet.
"First and foremost, I'm a veteran of the Sigil Order, I worked in the research department. I got reccomended to come teach for this school."
"I've been working for five years, and that's all. Any questions?"
"That was kinda short." The class whispered.
"I wonder what kind of person she is. She's giving that very professional attitude." Caelia said in Hikaru's ear.
To which he giggled at.
"Anything funny?" Dr. Yousa glared at him.
"N-No, sorry-ma'am." He put his head down in embarrassment.
Dr. Yousa sighed. Her long, silver hair rippled, flowing behind her back.
"And with that, your first lesson begins."
