Chapter 58 - Chapter 58

The council apartment felt heavy, the air thick with a quiet tension. The faint scent of old wood and burning incense clung to the walls, mixing with the muted rustle of papers on Mr. Jack's desk. Outside the tall windows, the sky hung low and grey, casting the room in a dim, almost stormy light.

Tyler and the pack stood in a loose line before Mr. Jack, their eyes following his every move. Shadows pooled in the corners, stretching long across the polished floor, as if the room itself was holding its breath.

"There have been suspicious vampire activities in Bojeing," Mr. Jack began, his voice deep and deliberate. "One of our former gammas called it in. We sent some pack members to investigate, but there's been no feedback." He fixed his gaze on James, Henry, and Sophia. "You three will go there to handle the matter alongside others. I'm counting on you."

"What? Why them?" Tyler's voice cut through the stillness, sharp with protest.

"Yes," Sophia added, stepping forward. "We work together more. Why doesn't the whole pack go?"

Mr. Jack's eyes hardened, his tone leaving no room for argument. "I have my reasons. Bella, Jasper, and Tyler will handle matters here while the three of you go to Bojeing."

The pack exchanged uneasy glances, their silence thick with unspoken disagreement.

"What sort of vampires are we talking about?" James asked, his voice low but steady.

Mr. Jack leaned back slightly, his gaze shifting to the faint light spilling through the window. "According to reports from the wolves on-site, it's a vampire lair more than eight of them. We currently have only six wolves there, and I will not risk casualties. That's why you three are going first."

Sophia's jaw tightened, but she nodded. "It's fine. We'll go."

Mr. Jack returned the nod, a flicker of relief passing in his eyes. "Good."

The pack dispersed slowly, murmurs following them into the hall. When the door shut behind them, Mr. Jack's shoulders slumped, and he released a long, weary sigh into the empty room.

Tyler's footsteps echoed in the dim fifth-apartment hallway, his mind a storm of questions. Why Sophia, James, and Henry? Why not the rest of the pack? What was Mr. Jack thinking, sending them into Bojeing especially when the vampires there could very well have abilities?

The thought tightened his chest. If Sophia, James, or Henry got hurt worse he didn't want to imagine it. He clenched his fists, remembering the battle with the three vampires. He had been useless then. Couldn't protect the pack. Redwill had been right all along.

"Hey, Tyler!" a voice called.

Jason.

Tyler kept walking, pretending not to hear.

"Tyler!" Jason's voice came again, sharper now.

He stopped and glanced back, irritation flickering across his face. Jason strode up to him.

"I've been calling you, man. What's up?" Jason asked.

"Nothing," Tyler muttered. "Didn't hear you."

Jason's brow lifted. "I saw Sophia, James, and Henry packing up. They said they were heading for Bojeing without you, Bella, and Jasper."

"Yeah," Tyler replied shortly. He had already spoken to Sophia, tried to convince her to call if anything went wrong. She'd just smiled and told him not to worry. But Tyler knew Sophia she wouldn't call. Not unless James or Henry did.

"So where are you going?" Jason pressed.

"Well… I'm going to see my sister," Tyler answered.

Jason smirked. "Bella, huh? I must say, she's a nice person. Helped me arrange my boxes when my room was scattered and didn't ask for a thing. Even cooked me meals while you guys were at Mugen."

"Good to hear," Tyler replied, though his tone was distracted.

Jason's eyes narrowed slightly. "When I first heard about Tengen's death… it hit me hard. I swore every vampire I meet will pay for it. Tengen always had our backs, kept us safe, made everyone laugh. One of the best."

Tyler's lips curled in a faint smile at the memory.

"For me," Jason said suddenly, his gaze darkening, "he was better than Redwill."

Tyler's head snapped up, eyes wide.

"Tyler! Tyler!"

Bella came running down the hall, breathless, one hand gripping the wall for balance.

"What is it?" Tyler asked, catching her by the arm.

"It's Jasper," she panted. "He's having visions again about the pack. About a fight in Bojeing."

Panic surged in Tyler's chest. His heart skipped.

Jason, Tyler, and Bella burst into the dimly lit room where Jasper lay. The air was heavy with the faint scent of sweat and the muffled rustle of sheets. Jasper wasn't still his body shifted restlessly, his hands clenching, lips parting as fragmented words escaped in a strained tone.

"Sophia…" he murmured.

His head twitched. "Henry… move out."

Bella and Tyler exchanged a quick, worried glance before sitting on the edge of his bed. The mattress dipped under their weight.

"Should we wake him up?" Bella's voice trembled, her eyes fixed on Jasper's uneasy face.

"Let's hear what he has to say first," Jason said, his gaze intent.

Jasper's voice rose slightly, laced with urgency.

"Move out, Henry. It's coming… too strong… too ferocious… too magical… Tyler… great "

"Tyler," Bella whispered, turning toward him sharply.

Jason's eyes narrowed. "I think he's seeing a vision about you. This could mean you're going to Bojeing."

Before Tyler could answer, Jasper's voice cracked again. "No… don't… don't James James, that was "

Abruptly, Jasper's eyes snapped open. His chest heaved as sweat rolled down his temples. Bella leaned forward, placing a steadying hand on his shoulder.

"Breathe, Jasper. Breathe," she urged.

He took a shaky inhale, then let it out slowly. "It's fine… I'm okay."

Jason crouched beside the bed. "What did you see?"

Jasper's eyes darkened. "An intense battle. The pack… they were overwhelmed. Mr. Jack said eight vampires, right? I saw more. Many more."

Bella's brow furrowed. "We have to tell Mr. Jack. We have to be there."

Jasper's voice dropped, low and grim. "These vampires… they're not just normal moving in sync. They move as one. Same abilities. Flames swirling from their arms… speed like nothing I've seen. Aggression without pause, without mercy. They would break any wolf in their path."

Tyler exhaled heavily, his jaw tightening. Jason put a hand on his arm. "Then tell Mr. Jack, Tyler. Warn him."

Tyler looked from Jason to Bella, then back to Jasper resolve sharpening in his eyes.

"We're going to Bojeing," he said.
