Chapter 42 - Chapter 42

The pack was back at the Davidson estate not the clinic this time, but one of the sprawling five houses that made up the apartment complex. The house they rested in was large and warm, its walls echoing faintly with the quiet murmurs of recovery.

Inside, a spacious room stretched wide, lined neatly with beds arranged in orderly rows. Each bed held a member of the pack, their heads resting or lightly stirring under soft blankets. The pale sunlight filtered through the curtained windows, casting gentle shadows across the room.

Several girls dressed in crisp white uniforms moved gracefully between the beds, tending carefully to wounds and offering soothing words. Their presence was calm and reassuring a delicate balance of care amid the pack's rugged reality.

"I can't believe we're always the ones admitted to the clinic," Henry grumbled from his bed, voice tinged with frustration.

James, his face still pale from battle, replied, "Because we fight the toughest vampires."

"Tyler," Sophia called softly.

He turned toward her, the weight of recent battles still heavy in his eyes.

"You entered the One Mind Wolf again," she observed.

Tyler nodded. "Yes, I did."

James shook his head in awe. "Whoa, bro. We really need to figure out how to activate ours. You took down that vampire alone while the rest of us didn't stand a chance."

Henry smiled warmly. "Glad to have you in the pack, Tyler."

Tyler returned the smile, shaking his head. "I'm the lucky one to have you guys."

The tension eased as smiles spread across the room.

"So, why are we here instead of at the clinic?" Bella asked, curiosity knitting her brow.

Jasper echoed the question, "Yeah, I was wondering the same."

Sophia paused, thoughtful. "Usually, packs who are brought here wounded in battle are considered..." She looked around, eyes locking with theirs. "Special."

"Yessssssss!" Henry shouted suddenly, making the pack wince and cover their ears.

"Damn, bro, you're too loud," Tyler muttered through gritted teeth.

Jasper tried to calm him. "Could you take it easy?"

Henry settled back on his bedside, eager. "So tell me, Sophia, do we get a reward? A medal or something?"

Sophia's voice was firm. "No, not yet."

Henry groaned. "Aw, come on! And here I thought we were gonna win the Special Pack award."

Tyler leaned in, curious. "What's the Special Pack reward?"

Sophia smiled faintly. "It's a trophy given to packs who make a strong impression on the council special warriors who complete every mission."

"Like us?" Jasper asked hopefully.

Sophia nodded. "Yes, like us. I think so."

The door opened, drawing their attention as two girls stepped inside.

The first had short red hair, sharp and lively. The second's long black hair flowed down her back like a dark waterfall.

"I'm Sharon," the redhead said warmly. "And this is Dana."

James sat up, intrigued. "Welcome."

Sharon smiled gently. "I'm glad you're all fine and healing."

"Mr. Davidson would love to see you once you've fully recovered," she added.

Dana's voice was soft but firm. "If you need anything, don't hesitate to call us."

The pack nodded their thanks.

As the girls left, Jasper whispered, "They look frail."

Henry shot him a sharp glare. "You call them frail? They're the Top Gammas."

"Who are they?" Bella asked.

Henry explained patiently, "The Top Gammas serve directly under the Alpha the head of the pack. They're eight in total: Sharon, Dana, Jason, Matins, Marina, Maxwell, Tengen, and Redwill."

Tyler raised an eyebrow. "Wow, Henry, you really know a lot."

"Of course," Henry said proudly. "I'm a wolf after all. And I hope to reach Top Gamma one day."

The pack members stood rigid before Mr. Davidson, flanked by the twins Rachel and Ricky both immaculate in crisp white shirts and trousers. The room was thick with tension, the weight of unspoken expectations hanging heavy in the air. Each breath seemed louder, each heartbeat sharper, as if the walls themselves were holding their silence, waiting.

Mr. Davidson's smile broke through the stillness, warm yet commanding. "I am very glad you're all okay. It pleases me greatly to see you standing."

The pack returned the smile, but Tyler's eyes lingered on the man's aura the calm strength and authority radiating from him. No wonder he commands such respect, Tyler thought.

"You all took down another vampire, just days after your heroism at Lake Black Sea," Mr. Davidson continued, voice steady with approval. "I'm impressed."

He cast a glance upward, as if recalling a distant memory. "The last time we had such a pack was quite a while ago."

His gaze swept over them again, softer now. "I'm already very fond of you all."

Then his eyes locked onto Tyler. "I heard one of you has unlocked the One Mind Wolf."

"Tyler," he called.

Tyler stepped forward, voice firm. "Yes, sir. I unlocked it during the battle with the vampire at Lake Black Sea."

Mr. Davidson's expression deepened with respect. "That's extraordinary. You've awakened something long hidden something only one man has done before: Constantine."

Tyler lowered his gaze. "So I was told, sir."

"If you've unlocked it, then your pack has the potential to unlock it too just like in Constantine's era," Mr. Davidson said, his voice filled with weight. "Sophia, James, Henry, Jasper, Bella, Tyler you could be one of the fiercest packs we've seen in a long time."

Suddenly, the atmosphere shifted an electric charge snapping through the air.

Eight figures entered with unshakable authority, their presence commanding the space like an unspoken law. Tyler's eyes narrowed, instantly recognizing them.

The Gammas had arrived.
