Chapter 16 - The Path To Becoming A SwordMaster

"Wasn't that the same aura I was seeking to obtain? No, that can't be right." Ryker thought.

"Hey I did good right?" Aiden said.

He waited for a response but he never got one.

"Oh, yeah, you did good." Elara said.

"Hey are you okay Ryker?" Thaddeus said.

"... Y-eah I am." Ryker replied.

"Hey, we gotta get evidence of our extermination of the worm." Selwyn grumbled.

"How about we take it fangs?" Thaddeus said.

Aiden headed towards the body of the once great sand worm.

Looking at the number of fangs it possessed.

"Which… one exactly?" Aiden mumbled.

The scene switches to them entering the secret underground base.

"Well that was sure a hell of a fight." Aiden said.

"Not really, we've fought creatures triple its strength before." Thaddeus said.

"We can each handle a standard grade monster on our own. But if we work together we can defeat a bright grade monster." Elara said.

They went towards the receptionist, carrying a full bag.

Pushing past drunk alcoholics on the ground.

"Hello, what can I do for you today, team alpha?"

Ryker sets down the bag at the receptionist's desk.

It opens, hundreds of the sand worm's teeth poured out of the bag, ripping it apart as soon as Ryker let go of it.

"Ah… Yo-u didn't have to get all of this." The receptionist said, nervously.

"We've brought more just to be sure, where's our reward.

"You have to give me the task sheet so you can get your rewards."

Ryker went towards the notice board, he snatched the notice off it.

And slipped it onto the desk.

"Here it is."

"Please wait a bit, so I can get the coins."

After a minute or two, she came back with a pouch filled to the brim with silver coins.

Ryker grabbed it off her hand.

Counting them, he realised that it was not the amount promised in the task sheet.

"What is this? This is not even half of the promised amount."

"Ah, s-ir, we've taken a bit for tax." She said, shaking nervously.

Ryker closed in. And grabbed her collar, "Where's the promised amount, if you don't give me the full price we've agreed on. I'm going to kill you on the spot."

He let go of the grip.

She dropped on her knees, tears welling up on her eyes.

Just before she started crying.

A second receptionist came in, running.

"Sir, I deeply apologize about the misunderstanding that has just occurred, please forgive our new addition to the team." The second receptionist said, shaking nervously, waiting for Ryker's answer.

"Just give me my damn money."

"Ah yes, sir! Right away!"

He sprinted towards a room behind him, leaving the newer receptionist alone.

The girl, looking at him, started shaking again.

Almost Tearing Up Again.

After exactly 20 seconds.

He came up, holding another pouch, this time it has gold coins on top.

"Sir, this is what we currently have, please accept this."

"I'm taking both of these with me." Ryker said.

He turned back, realising all the other members of the base were looking right at him, shocked by his behavior.

"Oh no, he looked at us! Quick, act normal before we anger him!"

Everyone suddenly started doing their usual stuff.

Sweat dripped off their forehead.

"Ah, Ryker, what was that all of a sudden?" Aiden said, confused.

"Dont worry, it just a new receptionist that doesn't know the rules yet." Ryker responded.

"Rules, what rules?"

"You better stop joking now, I'm in a bad mood."

"Don't mind him Aiden. Let's go to our swordsmanship class." Elara said.

"Swordsmanship class? I never knew something like that existed here." Aiden mumbled.

Game #4 [The Path To Becoming A Master] Has Started.

"A game out of a sudden, that's unexpected." Aiden thought.

DONG

A Bell Starting Ringing.

Suddenly.

Everyone stood up, heading towards a hallway.

"Come on, Aiden, we're going to miss our class." Elara said.

They followed the other people.

Then Elara dragged Aiden.

"Here we are."

It's a huge underground arena with training dolls, swords, and huge rocks scattered all over the facility.

"Whoa, this place is huge."

"Right? I had the same reaction as you, when I first entered this place!" Thaddeus said. Selwyn behind him. Looking like she just woke up from a long nap.

"What are you waiting for, go to your designated spot!" A resolute firm voice came from the front.

A man, in his 30s, stood there, looking at Aiden.

"Oh, so we have a new addition to the base. What is your name, newbie?"

"My name is Aiden, Aiden cross."

"Aiden, huh? Starting from now, your leisure lifestyle is becoming a hellish routine."

"Drop to the ground and give me 20 pushups!"

"Huh, why so sudden?" Aiden thought. But still dropped down for the pushups.

"1…2…3…4. How are you so slow, you're living outside if you don't finish this set within the next 20 seconds!"

"20 seconds?! Isn't that a bit too short!" Aiden thought.

He ended up finishing in 18 seconds.

"Just a bit slower and I would've slept on the streets!"

"You have potential, newbie. And I'll nurture you, until you become someone capable of defeating a dragon!"

"Potential, dragon? Just what is happening now, my brain is overloading."
