Chapter 10 - Light Show

The reactor's startup was by far the most pleasing ordeal so far, A good sign the start of the prism collective's rise begins here, at long last. With delight Synthesis watched the large battery units connected to the reactor slowly fill, it was these that kept him for so long. They required much to repair, yet there was nothing bitter about it.

With each passing decade the universe out there forgot about them. Although Synthesis did not know this completely, he did find some information on the communicator. The only mention of machines were their own machines, but not his. Not the Collective, so instead this is a very joyous occasion. He will celebrate it with a light show, which by current standing of time.. Will be an unfortunate captain and his crew. Like a sparrow flying into the range of a shotgun. How… fitting.

Synthesis drew up plans for reconstruction of the assembly line. Although they exist and he could simply repair them. He did not know what damage could be done and in turn some extra bits to run the assembly line isn't needed just yet. With reconstruction, he can focus on the necessity as of right now. More so aiming for three lines of production.

First would be construction machines, a bunch of these drones are well enough, but more is needed. They don't need much either and he can use the dismantled solar panels to even build a small vehicular hub for them.

This'll allow for his other goals projects. And honestly it's just more efficient. Second line is mining drone models, they will be in the dark most of the time so solar panels on them would be a waste. Instead they will be given more batteries and a few drills.

While their cousins which will also be a miner drone but, equipped with other equipment will scoop up what was mined, Hmm hauler drones.

Finally the third will be security measures. You see, after the intrusion he found a mass flaw in his current situation. Security, although big cannons serve as a deterrent they run off the basis of heat and the scanners abilities. Given if the intruders used say materials resistant to heat or technology to prevent or make signals perceive it as if it isn't there.

They could approach and infiltrate the vessel. He can't allow that, therefore the security will be terminators. Oh hell yes. You heard him. Terminators. This human named Darl had a few nifty old old movies on his device and whew. He decided to take… inspiration. They will hold down the fort, serving as the main fighting body. Whilst the slighter larger brethren heaver, with bigger guns will serve as a sort of compact light tank. Lets call them.. Claws.

After a moment of pondering further he stared up where the night skies roamed with an aurora of stars. Why was he up here? For the light show of course..

Sparrow watched with bated breath as they neared the vessel. However, no matter how they scanned. Nothing came of it. Sparrow was still with hope. It had to be the ship's metal stopping this right? Stop them from seeing any lifeforms. It had to be, not only did the ship not react to them, but it was dead in the water.

Yet Sparrow thought back to that cannon sound. Maybe there was an artifact within the ship that chased and killed Gwen and Frederic? If so.. Maybe it detected their use of a rover.. No, they would have been engaged upon stopping near the vessel. So what was it?

Maybe it detected them inside the outer ship?

Sparrow frustratingly stroked his chin. A forboding slowly pushing up from the depths. "Where is he? Any indication of Darl?"

"No sir, only sand and steel." One of the pilots commented. Sparrow couldn't stand it any longer. "That is not good, turn.. Wait.."

A message had pinged and with rekindled hope he looked at it. {I see you, i'm coming..}

With a smile he spoke again. "Re-scan. I want to know Darl's condition the moment he is out." The pilot controlling other means nodded, however he frowned. "Sir there is nothing on.. Oh shit! Weapons, weapons! They are turning on us!"

Sparrow blinked his confusion grew into steady fear as a message pinged. {Gotcha}. He paled as he realized the career ending mistake he had committed. Before he knew it the alarms blared and his voice roared. "Ascend! Ascend! Ascend!"

Their shields rose as a shudder shook the entire ship!

BOOM

Sparrow clutched his chair tighter so as to not get tossed out from the shudder. Felt like someone trying to shove him inside a spinning drier! "GUH!!" He steadied himself before roaring! "Report!? What's the situation?!"

The pilot roared back with urgency as the other pilots quickly retaliated, fingers flying across the control panels amongst their stations with expert ease, with hidden urgency and fear. "Left thruster burst! Emergency thrusters engaged! How shields are 100-"

BOOM!

another shudder violently rocked the ship as the pilots fought for control. "Shields dropped! Incoming! Brace!" The ship shuddered with each rocking explosion that warped the armor along the hull.

"Capt! Deck 2 is breached! Shields are fried!"

"Seal deck two! Evasive maneuvers now!"

Sparrow brought up countless holo screens in front of his chair. One showing Tin-cans damage. The hull is yellow along the middle and back of the ship. With the left engine dark red and a breach showcased on the bottom of the ship. "Shit! Bring guns to bare-"

The ship groaned with a screech before two of the small thrusters burst into red! Yet Sparrow spoke regardless of the shudder. "Intercept as many of those rounds as you can! Status! Can emergency thrusters get us to space?"

"No sir! We are losing altitude fast!"

Sparrow swiped his eyes to another screen. The meters between them and the sandy dunes below were rapidly closing Without another thought he brought up the intercoms. "Prepare for crash landing! Strap in and hold tight!" This was to all the crew. The ship was falling out of the skies multiple fronts along its hull and back billow deep black rivers of smoke, whilst fire burned with a roar and the ship dived.

Sparrow directed a route to a semi orderly crash landing however, in that instant another shuddering boom sent them spinning off course. The ground closes faster and faster. Then..

They careened with a whining thunder–

The ship slammed into the dunes sending tidal waves of cascading sand and metal. The hull warped, broke, twisted upon impact! It slid across. Gouging the sandy dunes with a deep nasty scar, before the ship came to a grinding halt. Explosions rippled along the back of the vessel, before silence fully reigned again after echoes of the cataclysmic crash spread far and wide.
