Chapter 25 - Chapter 25 ⭄ Promotion! Captain Hyaku

Thud—

Bellamy lost consciousness and collapsed helplessly.

Whoosh!

In an instant, the pirates remaining in the bar let out a collective gasp. No one could have imagined that Bellamy, among the strongest of their group, would be defeated so quickly.

The defeat was absolute. From start to finish, Bellamy hadn't managed to touch Hyaku even once. Every single attack had been perfectly evaded.

"Commander Hyaku won!"

While the pirates stood dejected, Coby and Helmeppo could barely contain their excitement.

With their fighting spirit crushed, some pirates began to quietly inch toward the bar's entrance, planning their escape.

"Coby, Helmeppo. First put handcuffs on Bellamy. As for everyone else here... None of them are getting away." Hyaku suddenly called out to the two.

If he was going to act, he wasn't about to let any pirates escape!

As soon as the words left his mouth, while the pirates' faces changed drastically, Hyaku deployed Rokushiki.

With one step on the ground, his form instantly vanished. When he reappeared, he was already blocking the bar's entrance.

"Don't be afraid, everyone!"

"He's just one person!"

"Attack together!!"

The pirates shouted in unison as they surrounded and rushed at him.

Faced with being surrounded by so many opponents, Hyaku actually smiled.

Slash, Slash, Slash...

Then, he charged into the crowd with his sword drawn. In an instant, the bar filled with flashing blades and screams of pain.

If even the mighty Bellamy couldn't last more than a few rounds against him, what chance did these pirates with lower bounties have?

Hyaku moved nimbly through the crowd of pirates. Each swing of his sword brought down waves of enemies.

A moment later.

Clang!

Hyaku stopped moving and flicked his blade. Blood scattered from the sword onto the ground.

Looking at the scene now, not a single person remained standing.

At the same time, Hyaku received the system's reward notification.

"Don't tie them up one by one, just bind them together." He said irritably, glancing at the other two who were binding the fallen pirates individually.

"Yes, sir!"

Hearing this, the two quickly responded and changed their binding method.

Shortly after, all the pirates Hyaku had defeated — nearly fifty of them — were tied up by Coby and his companion.

"Boss, now we can have a proper conversation." Looking back, he returned to the bar counter and addressed the owner.

By now, Terry had frightfully hidden under the table.

"Boss!" Seeing no response, Hyaku knocked firmly on the counter and called out again.

"Ah! Yes, yes, yes!" Terry finally came to his senses and hurriedly stood up from behind the counter.

When he saw the state of his bar, he nearly fell over again.

"Don't worry, we'll compensate you for all of this." Thinking he was concerned about the damage to the bar, Hyaku assured him, "By the way, I want to ask you about someone called Marshall D. Teach, also known as Blackbeard. According to my intelligence, he's been active in this area recently."

"Blackbeard? I've never heard that name." Terry shook his head. He hadn't heard any news about Blackbeard.

Hearing this answer, Hyaku felt a moment of disappointment.

'Seems Blackbeard and I aren't destined to meet yet.' He thought to himself.

Because his next destination, Water 7, involved the Ancient Weapon Pluton's blueprints, Hyaku wouldn't be staying on Jaya for long. He needed to get the blueprints before anyone else.

"Thank you for your trouble. This is compensation for damaging your bar." With that, he tossed a bag of gold coins to the owner.

He then prepared to leave with Coby and Helmeppo.

Bang!

"Nobody move!"

Just then, the bar's door was thrown open. A large group of Marine soldiers rushed in with rifles at the ready.

The Marine soldiers quickly noticed the pirates lying bound on the ground. Finally, their gaze settled on Hyaku.

"Marines?"

"No, those look like recruit uniforms."

"Who are you people?!"

Noticing that Hyaku and his two companions were wearing Marine recruit uniforms, the leader in charge immediately demanded.

Click, Click, Click!

As soon as he finished speaking, dozens of Marine soldiers raised their rifles, aiming directly at Hyaku and his two companions.

These days, many criminals operated under the Marine name — especially while wearing recruit uniforms. This made the soldiers extremely cautious. They needed to understand what was happening here.

"Wait!" Just then, an older Marine stepped out from the crowd. He raised his hand, signaling everyone to hold their fire.

He narrowed his eyes, carefully studying Hyaku's appearance.

"Lieutenant Commander! Be careful! Their background is unclear — we haven't confirmed if they're really our people." The leader warned the old Marine.

The old Marine's rank was significant, having reached Lieutenant Commander.

"You fools! Lower your weapons immediately!" After his inspection, the Lieutenant Commander waved urgently for everyone to stand down.

"Do you know who he is?"

"He's Captain Hyaku, the one who captured Warlord Crocodile!" The Lieutenant Commander explained.

Hearing this, the Marine soldiers hastily lowered their rifles, staring at Hyaku in astonishment.

Not just the Marine soldiers — even Hyaku was dumbfounded.

When did he... become a Captain?

"Captain Hyaku, you... haven't received the latest headquarters bulletin yet, have you?" Seeing his confused expression, the Lieutenant Commander cautiously inquired.

"Headquarters bulletin? I haven't received it." Hyaku answered directly.

The Lieutenant Commander nodded with understanding, then hurriedly stepped forward.

After rummaging through his pocket, he produced the latest newspaper and an official document from Marine Headquarters.

Hyaku took both items and quickly scanned their contents. A moment later, his eyes widened in surprise.

The news article detailed the events that had transpired in Arabasta. All credit had been attributed to Hyaku. There was even a photograph of him, taken at some unknown time.

As for the Marine Headquarters document — it was an official notice to all Marines that, effective immediately, Hyaku had been specially promoted to Captain of the 188th Marine Branch!
