The medical bay quickly returned to its usual pace after the brief commotion.

In the Pokémon world, evolution was nothing out of the ordinary though Kael's timing was… unusual.

Once the medics confirmed he was in perfect condition, they moved on to their other duties.

Case, however, kept his gaze locked on Kael, on his new [Flaaffy]. The man could already see the political value this Pokémon could bring him within the Shadow Syndicate.

Kael didn't stay in the medical room long. After only a short moment to adjust to his new body, he was returned to his Poké Ball.

He didn't resist. In this place, he still had no say in his own fate.

But he believed that now, having displayed his potential, he could gain access to far more resources to grow stronger.

Inside the Poké Ball, Kael drifted into sleep… unaware that his emergence had already sparked a wave of interest far beyond the room he'd just left.

---

Two days later, Kaise lounged in his office chair, hands behind his head.

In the time since Kael's evolution, he'd received a flood of messages, invitations, and even indirect approaches from some of the Syndicate's higher-ranking members. Everyone seemed to want a piece of this Flaaffy.

But Kaise hadn't made a decision yet. This could be the biggest opportunity he'd have all year to climb the organization's ranks. He wasn't about to squander it.

First, he ruled out simply gifting Kael to a high-ranking officer. The top brass already had established teams; their interest was mostly curiosity. Giving Kael away might earn him some goodwill, but it was nothing compared to the long-term value he saw.

Next, he dismissed offers from individual members of the combat division. Yes, they'd likely raise Kael as a main battler, but combat operatives rotated out or died far too quickly. Any favors gained could vanish overnight.

The office was quiet except for the faint hum of the air system.

Bang!

Then Kaise slammed his palms on the desk, eyes flashing.

"Screw it. Go big or go home. I'm taking the gamble."

The plan: send Kael to the Syndicate's Rental Vault.

---

Rental Pokémon were a special class in Dark Star. They weren't always the strongest, but each had a unique talent or utility.

Their abilities were documented and stored in the vault, and members could rent them out for a mission, paying a cost that was split with the Pokémon's original owner.

It was risky. Rentals were sent on dangerous jobs, and accidents, even deaths, were common. But the talented ones?

They came back stronger, learning from multiple trainers' resources and techniques. And those owners? They raked in profit and influence.

For Kaise, the real prize wasn't the money. It was recognition. Every time Kael was rented out, his profile would list "Owner: Kaise." That name recognition could be the deciding factor in future political battles.

The thought lit a fire in his eyes. But to make it work, Kael needed more power enough to survive, adapt, and thrive.

It was time for special training.

---

Click!

Kael stirred as the Poké Ball vibrated, then released him in a flash of red light.

He landed on spotless white flooring, the scent of disinfectant filling the air. Around him, people in white coats moved between advanced machines, data streaming across glowing monitors.

At the center of the room stood a man whose presence didn't match the sterile lab coat, open at the chest to reveal a muscular frame.

In one hand and then the other, he tossed a Poké Ball. Kael knew he had been released from one of them.

Kaise's gaze was sharp as he addressed him.

"I'm your trainer now, Kael. You're going to be my 'ace card' in the organization. That means most of your assignments will be dangerous deadly, even."

"You have one week. During that time, I'll train you myself. This isn't just about my reputation it's about your survival."

Kael blinked, still a little dazed from waking. He didn't understand all of it…

But one thing was clear he was going to be trained hard. And that was exactly what he wanted.

Every bit of strength he gained brought him closer to his goal: defeating strong opponents, earning more points, and carrying greater power into his next life.

Kaise didn't wait for a response. He raised his right hand and hurled a Poké Ball.

Crack!

Electricity burst forth as a towering figure appeared.

Over two meters tall, it stood even above Kaise. Yellow fur marked with bold black stripes covered its powerful frame.

Dark red eyes glinted with cold calculation, a grin revealing white, human-like teeth.

Two short, round antennae rose from its head, arcs of magnetic energy flickering between them. Its twin black tails swayed lazily, each discharge snapping with lethal blue-white lightning.

Kael's eyes narrowed.

The first day of training had just begun.
