Chapter 11 - Qualification Tests [5]

"Ho? It seems like Applicant No.144 is one of the sedulous exam takers. She's interesting, keep an eye on her." The master said crisply, a hint of amusement was evident in his voice while he watched Zhenyel through the monitor.

His attention then focused on other applicants that were being displayed individually in separate screens, his lips curling into a smirk when he checked every file of those who caught his interest, keeping a watchful eye on every one of them.

Meanwhile, Zhenyel carefully picked off three moonpetal blooms with the distracting guidance from a bunch of glowing orbs, following their movements and possible orders based on the pitch and speed of their bell-like speeches.

When she finished taking out the moonpetals without damaging the nearby patch, she helped the magical creatures replant on the spot where she just plucked them. Then she moved to the next ingredient.

This time, she was being guided not just by the glowing magical creatures but also by the forest itself. She handled the extraction with meticulous attention, taking a single silverleaf without damaging the plant to ensure regrowth.

Then, once she got both the moonpetal and the silverleaf, she immediately placed both plants in a thin bark, wrapping it with a vine so it wouldn't be damaged or contaminated.

Zhenyel thanked the glowing orbs, saying she'll remember their kindness and will repay them someday before she begins to leave. She walked back to the shallow part of the forest and trekked to a warmer, temperate zone.

She made sure to find an area where there were a lot of flowering plants, then she followed each path while listening for the buzzing of bees.

After a few minutes of wandering, she finally heard the hum of the bees. So, without wasting any more time Zhenyel rushed cautiously to the area, tracking the buzz as she got closer to the hive. When she arrived, she saw the hive.

Zhenyel examined the whole hive, climbing over and under on the ancient tree it was settled in, looking for an accessible part. Then she sat nearby, waiting for the bees to leave before moving.

Once some of the bees had left, Zhenyel began to extract a small portion of light-colored and free from brood honeycomb for the cleanest wax, carefully wrapping it in a broad and waterproof leaf.

Since Zhenyel already got everything she needed, she began processing all the ingredients.

She gently grinded and steel the moonpetal flowers in a wooden container along with the extracted silverleaf sap, adding a bit of spring water to enhance the potency and putting it aside after covering the top with a leaf, wrapped with a vine.

Then she hollows out a large wooden bowl, fashioning a container with a thick, water-tight bark. She filled the natural container with water.

With a large rock placed over a lit campfire, she placed smooth, dry stones to heat them up. Using improvised wooden sticks as chopsticks to carefully transfer the red-hot stones into her container of water.

Alternating stones in and out of the fire until the water is boiling before taking out the honeycomb and placing it over the container. After a few minutes of boiling the honeycomb, the pure beeswax melted and floats to the surface of the water

That's when she started picking them off and replacing the water, further boiling the beeswax before transferring it into the infused liquid of moonpetal and silverleaf sap, stirring until the mixture blended well.

Lastly, she let it cool before covering and wrapping the container with another broad, waterproof leaf. Finishing off with another layer and securing it with a binding using a vine.

Once Zhenyel was able to finish crafting the items she chose, she tracked her path to the said checkpoint inside the dungeon and showed the assistant instructor her items before being led out of the dungeon.

After which, she was back in the Adventurers Guild at the city. She was told to wait for confirmation and led to a well furnished lobby.

The room has a couch that is connected to each corner on the wall upon entry, there is a wooden table-shelf in the middle with a row of books. The window provides enough light without glare thanks to the curtain, and a small water dispenser and coffee pot on the other corner.

Zhenyel sat down on the edge of the couch near the door, grabbing one of the books from under the table and reading away while she waited, flipping through pages while her eyes skimmed through the content of the book.

Not even half an hour passed and Zhenyel was already called back to the front desk, she was told to prick her thumb and press her blood fingerprint onto the enchanted parchment.

Then after a few minutes of waiting, she was told that she passed the exam and is now an official member of the Adventurers Guild, handing her a bronze plate with the size of a normal ID card.

"Congratulations! You're one of the fastest to finish the exams in your batch. You may return tomorrow or a few days to choose your class and start taking on quests." The nice lady at the front desk says as she gives Zhenyel a polite smile.

With a silent nod of acknowledgement and a small smile for politeness, Zhenyel left the Guild with the proof of her membership while she walked back home when she checked for her friends not finished with the exams yet based on the applicant status.

She stared at the bronze card in her hand with a faint smile, examining the ID. Her name was written at the top, her age, her gender, her rank, the quests she'd completed, and her class-occupation.
