Chapter 11 - Chapter 11: Sketchbook

Chapter 11: Sketchbook

A nighttime scene, amidst the moonlight, the night was pitch-black. Baria stared at Seraph's face with sorrow. "The path?" Seraph reached out to Baria, helping him up.

"Yes, there is definitely a path. It's just a matter of whether you want it or not. There's still so much you can do in this world. Find the meaning of life.

I still have a life I want to live. What do you like?

What do you want? Will your life end here?

Do you want to chase your dreams? The dreams you want to make come true? Life is like this, with many negatives and many positives.

Following the flow of time, do you want to chase your dreams? The dreams you want to achieve? Ask yourself, unravel them. What is it you want?"

Baria stared at Seraph's cold face, thinking of his sketchbook, and of himself as a child, happily drawing alone. Undisturbed by anything but the sound of the wind.

Baria looked at Seraph's hand and reached out to take it. "I still want to walk. Can you show me a path to escape this time?"

Seraph pulled Baria up from the ground. "Then I'll show you. It's a secret. You can sleep in the rented house tonight." Baria hesitated. "But I don't have any money?" Seraph led the way and beckoned Baria to follow. "I'll pay for the money."

As for the reward, it's whatever form you want to give it." Seraph walked Baria to the rented room. Baria thanked Seraph several times.

After seeing Baria off, Seraph began walking down the street with a calm expression.

[Hmm, the golden line has returned to normal. Was this child's suitability for a martial artist measured? He's above average. He'll become a great man one day. His merit-making is considered a pass. But never mind. I don't know what to do. Maybe that's the path.]

Time passed and Seraph arrived in front of his house. There was a lovely young woman standing with her hands on her hips. Pouting angrily, it was Seria. "You're so slow! We waited so long for you to come back. Brother, father told me to hurry back." Seria waited for Seraph to arrive in front of her. Seraph walked over, ignoring her sister.

"Sorry, I was busy. Come on, let's go inside. It's time to celebrate."

Seria watched her brother walk past, and then Seraph's family began celebrating happily. Morning arrived.

Seraph and Seria had to go to a certain school as scheduled. Seraph looked at the carriage his family had hired, with both of their parents standing to see them off. Seraph sat beside Seria, and Seria watched curiously. Many people were passing by. Seria looked suspiciously, seeing that this wasn't the way she wanted to go. "Brother, where are you going?"

"We're going to pick up someone."

"Who is it?" Seria turned to look at Seraph.

"Barrier," Seraph said as if it were a normal occurrence.

Seria shouted immediately, "No! I won't accept that I have a boyfriend!" The coachman was stunned by the little girl's words.

Seraph replied with a straight face, "Not a boyfriend, just a friend. We're going to pick up Baria, so just pick her up yourself. You have the same qualities as Baria, so don't let Baria get ahead of you."

Seraph looked into Seraph's eyes. "Isn't that right?"

Seraph nodded. "Yes." [It's not unusual to think that way. I hope being a martial artist makes life easier.]

The carriage arrived at a rented room. It wasn't luxurious, and it wasn't old and rusty. It was just average. Baria ran to the carriage, and Seraph got out to greet her. Baria rode in the carriage with Seraph's group. Time passed, and the two girls chatted, but Seraph remained silent like a graveyard. The three of them arrived at their destination.

They entered the school. Inside the entrance, a line of students were waiting to enter the entrance exam. The children were all close in age to Seraph, so much so that they were practically the same age. Seraph was waiting in line when a woman with waist-length blue hair walked up behind him. Her name was ZinOn stood in line with a straight posture like a knight, Seraph didn't pay much attention to the people behind him.

After a while, the old woman in charge of the second round of examinations spoke up. "Well then, young ones, we're going to test your qualifications for the path you need to train for.

Each person has a different path, which makes for a diverse array of martial artists. The method is to enter and wait for the items to be delivered.

The magical weapons will choose the right ones. This is the beginning of your path to becoming a martial artist. Magical items are divided into nine levels, from level one, which is the lowest, to the highest, a level nine magical weapon.

Young martial artists,

Be proud. Sometimes, magic weapons don't choose you. So, don't be sad that magic weapons don't choose you. Then, the first person to enter is in."

The boy in charge of opening the examination entered the first person through the bright green door. Upon entering, he saw a bright green tower with numerous red magical items floating in midair. The surrounding area was filled with golden books.

Each book was rendered unreadable. A green light shone down, and a magical sword floated down and landed in front of the boy. The old woman acting as the examiner spoke up.

"If you pass, please wait outside." The boy walked outside, gazing at the beautiful, glowing green sword.

The boy who emerged from the room saw countless eyes staring enviously at him. Seraph studied the boy's face.

[So, you're going to receive the magical item. This means Seria's possibilities are probably great.] Seraph looked at Seria, still in awe. A golden light connected to the entrance where a boy had exited the room. A line of light connected to Seria.

[Is this Seria's luck? How great will each child become?]

Time passed, and each child received their own items from the room. Each item was very special, but its appearance was almost a copy. Time passed quickly, until it was Barrier's turn.

Barrier walked into the room, standing in the center. An old woman stood guard, checking on him.

[This child possesses terrifying talent, so perhaps he can attract a second-level magical item.] Barrier looked up at the sky. A white light from the void floated down. It was a single piece of paper, resembling a sketchbook, floating down in front of Barrier. The examiner was stunned.

[That's limitless paper. A third-level magical weapon is a very weak weapon. Besides having unlimited drawing paper, there's nothing else. How did this thousand-level magical weapon become third-level!?] Thus, Barrier obtained a third-level magical weapon, a sketchbook.
