Chapter 5 - Depressed More Than Ever

The Next Day....

Jenny still hadn't opened her room door and her parents were getting worried.

Jake:(Banging on the door) Jenny?! Open the door!

Jasmine:(Crying) Please Jenny, come out of your room. Jake, why isn't she listening to us? Why won't she open the door? (Staring at Jake) I can't bear to see her in this state, Jake. Let's do something- We must do something. How about we call Mr. Lucas? Yes, let's call him. He'll help Jenny.

Jake: Please Jasmine, control your emotions. I won't let anything bad happen to Jenny, not on my watch. Go to the bedroom and rest, I'll call Mr. Lucas.

Jasmine: No Jake, I won't leave her alone. I won't leave until she opens the door.

Jake: It won't be good for Jenny to see you in this position. Come on, go upstairs and get some rest. Let me handle it.

Jasmine went upstairs to the room to get some rest, while Jake called Mr. Lucas and told him to come early for his therapeutic sessions with Jenny....

Mr. Lucas:(Phone rings) Sorry gotta take this. (Gets up from bed) Hello Mr. Roberts.

Jake: Don't be so formal. Jake would do.

Mr. Lucas: Okay, Jake. Is there any problem?

Jake: Yeah...

Jake then narrated what happened yesterday.

Mr. Lucas: So Jenny goes to a store around the neighborhood at noon and comes back home at midnight?

Jake: Yeah. According to my wife, that's what she said.

Mr. Lucas: So you weren't there when she left?

Jake: Yeah, I was at work.

Mr. Lucas: But do you have any information about what she bought?

Jake: Nope, I didn't see her carrying anything as she came in. Maybe, she may have put it in her pocket or somewhere else.

Mr. Lucas: Okay. And she hasn't opened the door since she arrived.

Jake: Yes. Look, Jasmine and I are both scared, we know you don't have therapeutic sessions with her until noon, but is there anyway you can come now? Please, it's really urgent. Her situation's getting worse.

Mr. Lucas: Look, I understand. I'll be there in an hour.

Jake: Thank you so much, Mr. Lucas.

Mr. Lucas: No need to thank me, it's my job. We only met a couple of months ago but I know Jenny, she's a good girl and all she really need right now is emotional support and I'll be glad to help and give her the support and attention she deserves.

Jake: Thank you. We'll be expecting you.

Mr. Lucas: Okay, see you later.

Jake: Goodbye (Ends the call).

Female 1:(Sitting up) What happened?

Mr. Lucas: I have to go to their house.

Female 1: I thought you weren't going until noon.

Mr. Lucas: Yeah, but her situation has worsened so I have to get there in an hour.

Female 1:(Confused) Worsened? How? You told me she was fine yesterday, she even came out of her room.

Mr. Lucas: Yeah, I don't even know what suddenly made her to lock herself up back into that depressing state she always wanted to get out of.

Female 1: Poor Jenny, she must be really struggling. Maybe something forced her to go back.

Mr. Lucas: Seems like it.

Female 1: But...you promised me.

Mr. Lucas: I know...(Sighs) Maybe when I get back?

Female 1:(Stays silent).

Mr. Lucas: Are you angry?

Female 1:(Changes the subject) You should get ready to leave, if you'd be getting there in an hour. You know how traffic is.

Mr. Lucas: Thanks (Kisses her on the cheek and leaves the room).

Mr. Lucas got ready and left for Jenny's house. He arrived there within an hour, right on time.

Mr. Lucas:(Rings the doorbell).

Jake:(Opens the door) Thank God you're here. Come in.

He came in and Jake led him to Jenny's room.

Mr. Lucas:(Tries to open the door) Locked? What happened, Jenny? You finally come out of the house, now you stay shut in and isolate yourself from everyone else? Look Jenny, open the door and we can have a nice chat about it, okay?

Jenny:(Her voice trembling) I'm hopeless. So stop wasting your time on me, Mr. Lucas. Go get a better client — a client you deserve cause... I don't deserve you.

Mr. Lucas: Says who?

Jenny: Me.

Mr. Lucas: Why do you think so?

Jenny: Because I'm hopeless and no matter how much you try to help me, I'll still fall down.

Mr. Lucas:(Laughs) What did I tell you about babies, Jenny? Look everyone falls down but it's up to us to get over it and continue with the race. If your case was hopeless, I wouldn't have accepted your parents request for therapeutic sessions. Look, no one is actually hopeless, all we just need to overcome challenges is just to keep on trying, never give up. You give up and it's game over. I know you can do it, all you just need to do is to believe in yourself and keep pushing and don't let the challenges get to your head, they'll always slow you down.

Jenny: Everything's just soo fucking fucked up- I'm fucked up.

Mr. Lucas: No, you're not. Do you remember what I told you about babies?

Jenny:(Sniffs) No.

Mr. Lucas: When babies always try to walk, they always fall down but they don't let that stop them. They may cry but they'll get up and try again and believe me, it will take time before they'll be able to walk but no matter what, they'll still keep on trying. Have the spirit of a baby, don't let anything stop you and don't give up. Just imagine if all the babies in the whole world gave up, none of us would be able to walk right now. But they didn't and now we can all walk. Don't give up and trust me, one day, you'll truly smile. Will you open up the door for me or will I keep talking from the other side?

Jenny: Is anyone else there?

Mr. Lucas:(Turned and looked at Jake)

Jake: I'll take my leave. (Leaves).

Mr. Lucas: No one's here. You can open the door.

Jenny opened the door for Mr. Lucas, and he came in and she locked the door.

Mr. Lucas: Last time I checked, you never told me why you suddenly locked yourself up in your room.

Jenny: I let you into my room and all you wanna talk about are my problems?

Mr. Lucas: We can't solve it without talking about it. I know it sucks but you have to tell me about it so I can help.

Jenny: But I don't wanna talk about it.

Mr. Lucas: Same as me, but we've gotta solve your problem.

Jenny:(Sighs) I just need some time...to just- to just think.

Mr. Lucas: I'm here whenever you wanna open up about it. Remember, We've gone to far, we can't just make a U-turn whenever we like, we have to stick with the route.
