The living room was tense as hell, Annalyn's face pale after feeling the spirit again, her hand clutching her stomach where our unborn child was growing. My admission about resurrecting my past mate had dropped like a bomb, and Lucas, Calix, and Matteo were glaring at me like I was the enemy.
My runes were dim, my wolf pacing inside, and I knew I had to explain more or lose them for good. The Moon Alpha's energy was still lingering, making the air heavy, and Annalyn's heat wasn't helping my focus.
"Okay, fine," I said, raising my hands. "Partial truths, like I promised. My mate—her name was Lira. She was Moon Alpha blood, like you, Annalyn. Died in a ritual gone wrong, trying to bind her power. I blamed myself, dug into resurrection spells to bring her back. That's why the spirit feels like her—it's a echo from my failed attempts."
