The next morning, I was up at dawn, staring at the estate's water tank like it was a ticking bomb. The spies Matteo and Calix caught last night had nearly poisoned our supply, and that vial of acrid liquid was a nightmare waiting to happen. My heat was low-key for once, but my wolf was on high alert, senses sharp as I dragged Lucas and Ezra out to secure it.
"Pass the wrench," I said, pointing at the tank's valve. "We're flushing this whole system."
Lucas handed it over, frowning. "You sure? We might need to ration if—"
"I'm sure," I snapped, twisting the valve. Rusty water gushed out, splashing my boots. "Better safe than dead."
Ezra leaned against the tank, his runes glinting in the early light. "Smart. But we need to test the reserves. That vial's poison could've spread."
