....One Week Later
Reo had never anticipated that Raven would grow this fast.
His growth as a fighter was something else.
In just two weeks, his strength had risen exponentially.
The plan he prepared for Raven, as a result of the boy's explosive growth, wasn't effective anymore.
The same monsters that had almost killed him a week ago now posed little to no threat to him.
And the worst part? Reo wasn't even upset with it.
He had simply just given up on sabotaging Raven. Reo had accepted the fact that Raven was Nyx's disciple as well.
"Where's Leo?"
Raven asked suddenly, breaking the silence between the two of them.
"He's at an academy."
Reo replied without looking back.
"Academy?"
"A small one at the south, he and I didn't get admission to the same one."
He explained.
"Oh."
Raven mouthed, then continued.
"But you're going to the same one as I am?"
Reo frowned.
"No, I'm going to the one that you're trying to admission to."
Of course, after that, Reo completely ignored Raven's words until they got back.
"Ms. Nyx is letting you skip the written exams, use the remaining time you have to prepare yourself for the physical tests."
Reo said.
"I am."
Raven replied.
"Just know that you're one of Ms. Nyx's students, if you lose she will lose face, so don't disappoint her."
"I won't."
The older boy stepped into the building, leaving Raven outside.
Throughout the two weeks that he had been staying here, Raven had never once interacted with the staff, that was why he found the numerous stares that came his way as he sat in the lounge.
This had never happened before.
But today was his last day at the PRU before going to the academy, and he was going to represent Nyx-the head of this branch- at the academy.
Raven found the unwanted attention somewhat uncomfortable as he waited.
Soon after, Reo came back down the stairs.
"What are you doing?"
"Waiting."
The boy left at Raven's words.
'Short temper as always.'
He mused as he waited.
While it would have been better if he waited for Nyx at the secretary's office, he chose not to. He didn't know if it was just that Nyx had a tight schedule, or maybe she just guessed or got lucky, but the woman creeped him out.
Even when he had gone back there some days later, she still seemed as freaky as she was at their first encounter.
'And here I am, getting distracted anyway.'
He leaned back into his seat, his eyes scanning the environment.
The bottom floor was dead silent.
Too silent.
It was somewhat creepy considering that there were some people on the down floor.
'I suppose I'll just wait for her in the training hall.'
He stood up and went in the direction of the elevator.
While both the places were eerily quiet, one of them had an explanation for being so while the other reminded him of a graveyard.
Plus, he had grown more used to the presence of the dummy.
'What a weird place.'
Raven couldn't help but think as the elevator went down.
Thankfully, he would soon leave this place.
'I just need to beat here before I leave.'
Nyx had not given any condition he had to fulfill before being allowed to go to the academy.
Rather, it was his own goal.
He had spent all that time training, obviously after everything he had done, he needed something to show for his hard work.
The elevator slowly came to a halt, then the door opened.
"You're late."
The voice came.
Raven blinked, but he wasn't surprised.
"I was waiting for you in the lobby."
He replied.
"I asked Reo to call you before he left."
Nyx explained.
Raven's brows furrowed at her words.
"Well, what's important is that you're here now."
She said.
'I should have expected this.'
This actually seemed like something she would do.
"Are you ready?"
She asked.
"Give me a moment."
Raven muttered. But of course, Nyx heard him, backing away while he got ready.
'She's wearing combat clothes.'
Nyx wore a black combat shirt and training pants, with her sleeves rolled to her elbows.
"You've improved a lot, so I decided to take our last spar seriously."
'Seriously my ass.'
Raven fought back the urge to roll his eyes.
'If she wants to fight seriously, I might as well just give up now.'
Nevertheless, he continued warming up.
"Are you ready now?"
"In a minute."
'Dash, pressure, spam, pressure, dash, spam, spam, dash, pressure.'
Raven recited his plan in his mind.
It would be a big hit on Raven's self-esteem if he had put all that practice in
for nothing to show for all his effort.
At the very least, Raven wanted to get at
least a single hit in during this fight.
It was like his very own commitment to himself.
'If I think about it, I suppose that me landing a real punch on Nyx will be my first new touch.'
"Okay, I'm ready."
Raven finally said, getting into a crude running position.
"Then start."
Raven dashed forward with an explosive burst as soon as the words left her mouth.
He moved fast.
That too without his only skill.
"Impressive."
Nyx murmured.
He was moving that fast with just raw speed.
