Chapter 6 - SCENE 6

INT. CABIN IN THE WOODS – DUSK

The broken mirror they retrieved from the Old Tower ruins had always been their link to Λ-17.Na-mi called it: Om.

In the past, Om would speak to them, now and then.

But it had been a long time since the last signal.

Yo-an looked worried. He ran his fingers along the cracks on the glass, hoping to see the flicker of light again.

The last thing Om said was:The system has performed an irregular data purge.I'm trying to understand why.

It left them both uneasy.

When they were children, the word "purge" was the scariest thing they could hear. It meant being erased.

Back when Yo-an was still X089, he once voiced a thought about free will in class. They took him away immediately. His tracker was deactivated. He was thrown into a Dissolution Pod.

He didn't know what it meant then.

When he woke up, he was already in the forest.Na-mi was there beside him.

Yo-an turned to her, serious.

YO-ANWe need to get ready.(pause)I have a bad feeling.

19. EXT. SOUTH OF THE CEDAR WOODS – DAY

Na-mi broke off a piece of mirror, ground it smooth against a rock, and slipped it into her backpack.

She reached for Yo-an's hand.

NA-MILet's go. That way.

The night before, she had told him: they had to find Om.She could feel it—Om was near the border.Near the system.

Yo-an was hesitant, but he had no better idea.He feared being discovered by the system. But more than that, he feared the unknown.

They stepped onto a thick layer of fallen leaves.

For years, they had lived deep in the forest. The farthest they'd ever gone was the Old Tower.Always hiding.Always avoiding the border.

But now things were different.

Without Om, they felt like children who had lost their parents.
