Chapter 4 - Chapter 3

The game was rather simple and easy to understand. It had an open-world structure with a few quests here and there. Right now, my character was just wandering around a house, doing mundane tasks like eating and going to school.

Nothing groundbreaking—but oddly comforting.

What struck me was how familiar everything felt. The floor plan, the quest order, even the chipped corner of the dining table. I brushed it off at first. Coincidence, maybe.

But the more I played, the clearer it became.

I started to realise how easily the map came to me—how naturally I could navigate the rooms, even without checking the mini map. I knew exactly where the kitchen would be. I didn't even have to think twice when a quest told me to find the bathroom upstairs. It all felt… second nature.

After about an hour, boredom began to creep in, and my stomach growled in protest. I paused the game and headed to the kitchen to heat up the nasi lemak Mama had prepared this morning.

As I walked back to my room, plate and mug in both hands, something clicked. A small, crawling thought that sank into my gut.

Why does this house… look exactly like mine?

Same creaky step halfway up the stairs.Same worn patch on the hallway rug.Same faint stain on the ceiling from the time the roof leaked.

I stopped in my tracks.

Did Maya really model the game house after our house?

Or—

Was the house in the game never fictional to begin with?

Did Maya even create this version?

Or was someone else watching me… mapping me…?
