Chapter 16 - The General Appears Before All

"You've already slept with me—what's the point of hiding it now?"

Su Sheng limped down the mountain, swaying like a flower beaten by last night's storm. She thought she could walk like nothing had happened. But after only a few steps, her knees buckled, and she nearly collapsed.

The disciples of her sect swarmed up with knowing glances, smirking like foxes:

"Hey, Senior Sister Su—weren't you off to shoot the golden eagle? Why do you look like you got shot by it instead?"

Su Sheng flushed crimson. "I... I just fell."

Before she could explain further, a sharp eagle's cry split the morning sky.Everyone looked up.

From the heavens, golden light shattered the clouds as a colossal shadow pierced the horizon—wings outstretched like the heavens were cracking apart, thunder roaring in their wake.

"That's—the golden eagle?!"

In the blink of an eye, feathers burst like firecrackers in the sky. The golden eagle dove from the clouds, its wings cleaving the wind, and then—he transformed.

Descending from the sky with terrifying grace was a man: bare-chested, golden-eyed, wreathed in wind. Every step he took left the air sizzling.

He stood nearly seven feet long in beast form, his entire body cloaked in golden feathers. His wings unfurled like the firmament itself, tail feathers trailing starlight, feather-blades sharp as swords. His eyes shimmered with gold flames, and his talons gleamed like divine blades. When perched on the mountaintop, he could blot out the moon.

The feathers on his chest were a purer gold streaked with white—a trait found only in royal bloodlines.

Beneath his majestic wings were hidden old scars, left from guarding the sacred mountain. His beak bore a sinuous etching, elegant yet deadly. And when he leaned down to nip someone—oh, he didn't just strike, he teased.

And when he took human form, he was something else entirely.

A divine figure from the high mountains.

At first glance, a cold immortal lord; at second, a dangerously restrained beast; by the third glance—well, you'd already be pinned to the bed calling him "Yu"

His features were sculpted like blades: sharp and symmetrical.

Slender phoenix eyes with shallow golden patterns, the kind that made knees go soft with just a glance. A high-bridged nose, thin and dark-tinted lips—the kind that pressed down on yours with unyielding heat.

At the center of his forehead was a faint golden feather mark, glowing slightly when he ran hot.

His body was a sculpture of lethal beauty—broad shoulders, narrow waist, tall and toned, his muscles traced with faint outlines of hidden wings and old battle scars.

With his shirt off, he was a living masterpiece of "avian divinity incarnate": wingbone markings, a spine of gold, wrapped in wounds and war.

He could hold you up mid-air—and when things got serious, he did not hold back.

The disciples stood frozen, stunned."He… he's not wearing a shirt!!"

Su Sheng nearly died from embarrassment. Her face was so red it could light a stove. Just as she was about to yell at him—

Rong Yu swept forward and lifted her into his arms. His wings began to fold slowly, the warm feathers brushing against her waist as he leaned in to murmur against her ear:

"Weren't you going to leave? Why stop now?"

She hissed, "You're crazy! In front of everyone—"

He turned his head to face the crowd, voice cold as steel:

"Su Sheng is now the Golden Feather Queen. No one may touch her, approach her, or even smile at her—And forget about dragging her back to that broken sect."

Gasps of horror echoed across the mountaintop.

In his arms, Su Sheng struggled, furious. "I'm not your possession! Don't talk about me like some—some object!"

Rong Yu bowed his head and kissed her forehead. Gentle but commanding.

"You can bite me, fight me, even hate me—But in the end, you're still the girl who screamed 'Yu' eight times last night while I flew you through the clouds."

His voice dropped low.

"Tell me—how could I possibly let you go now?"
