This book is written in memory of my best friend who died a month ago.

I never got the chance to tell you this because I was such a stupid coward.

I have never had a day of peace in Montgomery High school ever since my freshman year three years ago.
Being poor, ugly and a nerd was all I needed to be labelled a freak.
No one liked me, no one even tried befriending me. I got bullied on daily bases by the school most popular students. A group of rich snoobby kids who made it their mission to make my life miserable.
No one cared what they did to me, not even the teachers. I was alone, sad, broken and lonely.
As an orphaned teenager who had no one, I have never experienced the joy of having someone who cares. Someone to love me. Right from when I was a kid, it has always been me against the world.
But that was until I met her; the girl who changed my life for the better and made me more eager to keep moving forward.
St Mary's orphanage; that was the place I grew up in. Compare to the other kids, I was different. I was too skinny that sometimes people are scared I would fall over, I had an ugly burn on my face too.
According to one of the nuns, I got it when I was rescued from a fire at a maternity hospital as a baby. My parents must have died in the fire, and I had no idea who my savior is. My blond hair was pale and dirty. It must have lost its color due to lack of care.
I was all alone.
People saw me as a monster because of the nasty scar on my face, and most kids at the orphanage stayed away from me. I've always wanted to befriend them, I even tried talking to them sometimes, but they would all run away from me and treat me like a leper.
At the age of fifteen, I was happy to move away from there and start a new life. I got a scholarship at Montgomery; one of the best schools in this small town of Orleans.
I was so elated about it. Happy to make new friends, happy to start a new life, happy to finally find someone who might love me, but Montgomery became a personal hell for me.
When everyone else rejected me, she was there to protect me, there to love me, always there to care for me.
She took care of me when no one did, she accepted me when everyone else cast me aside, she held my hand and lifted me up when everyone else pushed me to the ground.
She was my heaven, my joy.
My everything.
But now,
She has to die.
For me to live.
"Tell me dear. What do you desire most? I have seen your past, your fears, your pains. What do you wish for to make it better?"
My heart beat was faint and my lips felt dry. I couldn't see the face of the person who spoke to me because the darkness was thick. I could see nothing.
Even in my darkest moment, it was her grey eyes that comforted me and pushed me to keep moving forward.
Through a cracked voice, I forced out the words.
"I want to live again."
There was a short pause, and I wondered if my request was too absurd to grant, but the voice spoke again.
"I can make that happen. But, are you willing to pay the price for a second chance?"
I thought about what I endured in their hands.
They made me feel useless!
Made me feel worthless!
Made me feel like dying everyday!
They mocked my existence!
Spit on my dreams!
Squashed my hopes for a better life!
Without remorse, they broke me, but that wasn't enough for them. This worthless life I tried so hard to endure, this new life I was finally happy to live with her, they still took it away from me!
I will do anything to get a second chance at life, if it means I can get revenge, and also if it means I can go back to her.
Darkness enveloped my every thought, and I replied, "yes. Whatever the price may be, I am willing to pay!"
I could feel the smile in the unknown voice.
"So be it! Your wish, is granted!"
And just like that, I gasped, coughing out water from my throat. My eyes fluttered open and I sat up weakly. When I looked around, I found myself laying by the river banks. My clothes were wet and I felt very cold.
But one things is for sure.
I was back from the dead!
