Time lost its meaning during those months, as Vayu followed the same routine everyday and immersed himself in killing . His iron spear was now completely red, layers of dried red blood clinging to the metal as if it had become part of the weapon itself. Today was no different as always, Vayu set out to hunt horned rabbits, though he himself had changed far more than he realized. His eyes, had turned a deep violet after absorbing vast amounts of demonic energy over the past six months. That energy was beginning to slowly affect him, as his thoughts were filled with violence, urging him to slaughter everything in his path. Each time the impulse rose, he forcefully suppressed it, gripping his sanity with sheer will. Vayu knew the cause of these thoughts vary well, it was all because of the demonic energy. He had asked Ruru about it, and her explanation had confirmed what he had already deduced. There existed a chant to cultivate demonic energy properly, a method that would allow him to control it freely instead of being consumed by it. The main reason he had not yet lost his sanity, however was the Devourer System anchoring his mind and not letting him go insane like a demonic beast. Once his demonic energy reached fifty, he stopped consuming the crystals, aware that his body could not endure anymore demonic energy. Instead, he began collecting them, while all the horned rabbit meat he obtained was fed directly to the black liquid.
As always, Vayu stepped onto the open ground, a place he had not missed for a single day. He came here daily to hunt, and just like him, a rabbit holding a golden carrot in his mouth appeared at the far end of the field, standing still and staring straight at him without moving an inch. Vayu had long grown accustomed to its presence and no longer paid it any attention. Over the months, he had made countless preparations, such as wooden stakes were planted across the ground, positioned carefully to serve as stepping points for sudden jumps and mid-air maneuvers while hunting. He had become deeply familiar with the movement patterns of the horned rabbits and his spear skills had improved by leaps and bounds, honed by throwing his weapon hundreds of times every single day. Today, he had already killed five rabbits and the sixth was in his sights. The spear left his hand in a smooth arc, slicing cleanly through the back of the horned rabbit before embedding itself into the ground. Vayu rolled forward and rose to his feet just as a sharp ding echoed in his ears—a sound he was very familiar with but hadn't heard in a very long time. A blue screen materialized before his eyes, informing him that his experience had reached one thousand, and that he had killed five hundred horned rabbits to date. As a reward, he had obtained the title Hunter, granting him a fifty percent stat boost whenever fighting rabbits and instilling fear in them upon sight. A smaller window appeared, asking whether he wished to equip the title, and Vayu selected yes without hesitation. Instantly, the title attached itself beside his name and moments later, the rank indicator on the screen shimmered as the letter F transformed into E. Almost instantly, a powerful jolt of energy surged through his body, spreading from his core to every limb as if his entire being had been reforged. Without hesitation, he burst forward toward the horned rabbits, his movements were explosive and unrestrained with his stats doubled and the effect of the Rabbit Hunter title active, he ran like a madman across the open ground. Wherever he charged, the rabbits froze in terror for a brief instant, and that single second was more than enough for Vayu to strike them down. Within the next two hours, he slaughtered relentlessly, even as his demonic energy continued to rise as after attaining E-rank had allowed him to withstand it without placing excessive strain on his body. Over the following three hours, he killed nearly twenty horned rabbits, a feat that would normally have taken him two full days to accomplish. When the hunt finally ended, Vayu returned home with a smile on his face, deeply satisfied.
When Vayu returned to the clearing the next day, a new window appeared before his eyes as he got his first quest: kill one hundred horned rabbits with his current strength, the task felt almost trivial, and he completed it within the next few days, earning five stat points as a reward. However, when he entered the open field again afterward, no new quest appeared. Even so, he continued coming every day, hunting without pause and over the course of the next month, Vayu killed nearly another five hundred horned rabbits. In the final days of the month, he changed his weapon once more, abandoning the spear to his daggers, as his speed was slightly faster then the horned rabbits and when they froze in fear for that brief instant, it was far more efficient to close the distance and slit their throats with swift, precise strikes rather than waste time to throw a spear.
