"What a turbulent time," Kouki sighed, shaking his head, showing no remorse for his role in recent events.
He continued his patrol duties in Konoha, appearing unconcerned.
After two hours, Kouki was relieved from duty and returned to Konoha Military Police headquarters.
"Impossible! It can't be true! Kakashi… he awakened the Mangekyo Sharingan?!"
"That's absolutely impossible! He's not even an Uchiha. How could he achieve such an evolution?"
"Only Shisui in our clan has awakened the Mangekyo Sharingan!"
"Who's spreading these ridiculous rumors? This is preposterous!"
Upon returning to headquarters, Kouki heard a wave of disbelief and commotion. Some were shocked, others angered, and many were simply astounded.
"Kakashi… he awakened the Mangekyo Sharingan?"
Kouki was mildly surprised but quickly regained his composure, unlike the others. He already knew the plot; he knew what was coming:
Rin Nohara, captured by Kirigakure, had the Three-Tails sealed within her and was returned to Konoha. To prevent the Three-Tails from rampaging, Rin deliberately died by Kakashi's hand.
This tragic event was "conveniently" witnessed by Obito, who, deeply traumatized, awakened his Mangekyo Sharingan, triggering Kakashi's awakening as well.
"Kakashi awakening his Mangekyo Sharingan means Obito has also awakened his. He should now be fully under Madara's control," Kouki mused, silently acknowledging the tragic events as a foregone conclusion. He felt no need to interfere.
These events were entirely irrelevant to him. He continued his routine, working, going home, and completing his daily sign-in, living a carefree life.
A year passed quickly.
During that year, through relentless training, Kouki's chakra reserves reached Jonin-level. His control over the Rinnegan and his mastery of techniques like Amaterasu and Tsukuyomi had significantly improved.
Kouki was now undeniably the strongest shinobi in the world.
His sign-in rewards were also significant. He finally obtained the highly coveted techniques, Kamui and Kotoamatsukami.
In addition, Kouki received mastery over all five chakra natures, and virtually every jutsu, sealing technique, taijutsu, and genjutsu in Konoha. His strength had undergone a quantum leap.
Several significant events unfolded in Konoha during that year.
First, the Third Hokage stepped down, and Minato Namikaze was unanimously chosen as the Fourth Hokage. Unlike in the original timeline, Orochimaru's mysterious disappearance left no one to compete with Minato, making his succession remarkably smooth.
Second, Danzo's position as head of Root was filled by the senior advisor, Homura Mitokado. Mitokado was practically Danzo's clone, sharing similar background, experience, ideology, and even personality. Mitokado, Koharu Utatane, and Danzo were practically inseparable.
Third, A Ninja organization called "Akatsuki" rose to prominence in Amegakure, gaining considerable influence in the ninja world. They sought to persuade warring villages to abandon conflict and embrace peace.
Compared to these events, the frequent skirmishes and wars between Konoha and Kirigakure were relatively insignificant.
The mysteries surrounding Danzo's death and Orochimaru's disappearance remained unsolved, causing no trouble for Kouki.

A persistent, dreary rain fell, obscuring the sky and casting a heavy, oppressive atmosphere even in the daytime.
Thud thud thud!
A group of figures ran through the mud, three leading the way: one with yellow hair, one with red, and one with blue. They were the three leaders of Akatsuki: Yahiko, Nagato, and Konan.
They had just received news of a village destroyed by war and were rushing to provide aid. Their mission: to prevent war and promote peace.
Whoosh! As Akatsuki passed, a spatial vortex suddenly appeared on the street they had just traversed.
A figure enveloped in a White Zetsu emerged from the vortex. Simultaneously, a bizarre figure, half-black, half-white, with pitcher plants growing from its body, emerged from beneath the ground.
It was none other than Obito Uchiha, operating under Madara's name, along with his partners, the Black and White Zetsu.
"Nagato and the others are off to promote peace again. Their conviction is unwavering," the Black and White Zetsu remarked, observing Akatsuki's retreating figures.
Obito didn't respond; only his visible eye showed a hint of displeasure. Over the past year, Obito, following Madara's instructions, had been guiding Nagato, the Rinnegan wielder, to further the Eye of the Moon Plan.
However, progress was far from ideal. Nagato, and indeed the entire Akatsuki, were too naive, almost foolishly idealistic. True peace was an impossibility in this world.
"Obito, you shouldn't have unilaterally altered Madara-sama's plan," the Black and White Zetsu expressed their dissatisfaction.
Madara's plan involved deception and manipulation of Nagato, but Obito had revealed the truth to Nagato, resulting in Akatsuki viewing Obito as a deceiver and significantly slowing progress.
