Ye Chen drove Lin Rouxi and her mother back to the hotel. Along the way, Sui Xi's attitude toward Ye Chen began to soften, especially as she asked him several questions and listened to his polite answers.
Eight minutes later, they arrived in front of the hotel. Lin Rouxi and Sui Xi stepped out of the car.
> Sui Xi: "Ye Chen, thank you for the ride."
Ye Chen: "It's no problem, Auntie. It's my duty to make sure you get back safely."
Sui Xi smiled and walked toward the hotel entrance. Lin Rouxi, however, leaned down toward Ye Chen's window.
> Lin Rouxi (whispering): "Thank you, Ye Chen. Thanks to you, I got out of trouble today. I owe you one."
Before Ye Chen could reply, she quickly kissed him on the cheek. Without another word, she hurried after her mother and disappeared into the hotel lobby.
Ye Chen froze for a moment, surprised. Was that her way of thanking me? It might have been an act, but Ye Chen couldn't deny he enjoyed being Lin Rouxi's "boyfriend," even if it was just for show. Smiling to himself, he stepped on the gas and drove back toward his villa.
Meanwhile, Lin Rouxi followed her mother with a flushed face. She couldn't explain why she had kissed him—it was only on the cheek, but it still made her heart race.
Ah… how am I supposed to face Ye Chen in class tomorrow? she thought. As a teacher, falling for her own student was unthinkable.

Ye Chen drove down a busy road, the speedometer climbing close to 100 km/h.
Suddenly—
> Wiuu… Wiuu… Wiuu…
The sharp sound of a police siren echoed from behind.
Checking his rearview mirror, Ye Chen saw a patrol car tailing him. A voice boomed over the loudspeaker:
> "Driver, pull over immediately! You have exceeded the maximum speed limit!"
Ye Chen frowned. Police patrols at night? Just my luck. He hated dealing with law enforcement—it was nothing but trouble for a cultivator like him.
Instead of stopping, he pressed harder on the accelerator, trying to shake them off.
The police car sped up in pursuit. The chase went on for several minutes, the flashing lights still visible in Ye Chen's mirrors. If this continued, reinforcements would arrive.
Not wanting that, Ye Chen steered onto a busier road, weaving through traffic with precision that made him look like a professional racer. The patrol car struggled to keep up, and the distance between them widened.
Realizing they couldn't catch him safely in such heavy traffic, the officers instead took note of his license plate and radioed other units.
Ye Chen didn't notice—he had already left the city center, heading toward a hill on the outskirts known for its stunning night view. From the top, one could see the city lights shimmering below and the stars twinkling clearly above.
When he reached the hilltop, Ye Chen parked and stepped out to admire the view. He wasn't alone—several people were enjoying the night air.
One person in particular caught his attention: a woman in a black dress, about twenty-five or twenty-six, with a graceful figure and a beautiful face. What stood out most was her aura—she was a cultivator, and a powerful one at that, already at the 4th level of the Earth Realm.
On Earth, such experts were rare, especially at her young age. Ye Chen guessed she must be from an ancient sect or family.
The woman noticed Ye Chen watching her and gave him a faint smile before walking straight toward him.
She stopped right in front of him.
> Woman: "Nice car. Is it yours?"
Ye Chen narrowed his eyes slightly, suspicious.
> Ye Chen: "Yes, it's mine. Why?"
Was she trying to steal it? The thought seemed absurd—how could someone with her cultivation stoop to being a thief?
> Woman: "I see. Then could you hold out one of your hands?"
Curious, Ye Chen extended both.
> Clank!
Before he realized it, cold steel cuffs clicked around his wrist, the other end locked in her hand.
Ye Chen: "-_- … Beautiful sister, what exactly does this mean?"
The woman calmly pulled out a police badge from her pocket.
> Woman: "You violated traffic laws and fled from police pursuit. You and your car are coming with me to the station."
Ye Chen's mouth twitched. A female police officer?! If I'd known, I would've driven far away from here.
> Officer: "Well? What are you waiting for? Get in the car and follow me to the station—now."
> Ye Chen: "Beautiful officer, you must have the wrong person. I'm a good citizen."
> Officer: "Nice try. Your license plate matches the one reported. You're not talking your way out of this."
With that, she tugged Ye Chen toward his own car and got into the driver's seat. Without hesitation, she drove down the hill, heading straight for the police station—with Ye Chen, now officially "arrested," sitting beside her.
