Seraphina's POV
I looked at Elyon, trying to gather my thoughts, trying to make sense of the conflicting stories warring in my mind.
"From the time I could understand anything," I began slowly, my voice barely steady, "I had been told that my father was an evil man. That he did many evil things."
I paused, the words feeling heavy on my tongue. "Even Adrian told me that our father was not a good ruler, that he abused his power. That he took women regardless of their status, whether they were married or mated to others or not, and forced himself..."
I couldn't finish the sentence. The words were too ugly, too painful to say aloud.
"All lies," Elyon interrupted sharply, his expression transforming into one of pure fury. I flinched at the intensity of his anger.
"Seraphina," he said, his voice tight with barely controlled rage, "you have been lied to your entire life."
I stared at him, completely lost.
