Chapter 52: The Zombie Apocalypse World Will's Conspiracy?
After locking into his targets, Ainsworth free-fell from the sky and landed on the street where the survivor group was making their escape.
Ainsworth landed on the street foot first. He had fallen as lightly as a feather, without causing any destruction on the street.
After he had used Freedom of Movement (SSS) to negate fall damage, Ainsworth shifted his attention to the group of survivors who were now heading towards him.
Of course, those survivors weren't targeting him, but he merely stood in front of the path of their escape, which was within his intentions.
When the leader of the survivor group saw Ainsworth blocking their escape route, he gritted his teeth before deciding, as he shouted, "Explode him as well!"
The survivor group's leader, as well as some of the survivors had seen Ainsworth descend from the sky so they could guess that Ainsworth was far stronger than them.
After all, even the two evolvers in their group couldn't fly that high, let alone descend so lightly. They also heard the divine-like voice that resounded in the sky, summoning rain that extinguished the fire they had caused.
Putting two and two together, Ainsworth was likely the one who summoned the rain, so the survivor group's leader wanted to eliminate him as soon as possible.
'Even if he can summon rain, he's not a god. He's still a fleshy mortal and just a powerful evolver, so he can still bleed and die.'
Having that thought in mind, the survivor group leader didn't hesitate to command the evolvers in his group to attack Ainsworth immediately.
Hearing the leader's command, Howard heeded it and swiped his right hand continuously towards Ainsworth.
In front of him, liquid blades appeared and headed towards Ainsworth like slicing blades.
But before Ainsworth could even block the attack, Howard controlled the liquid blades to move upwards above Ainsworth and detonated it, causing its liquid to rain down on Ainsworth.
In response to Howard's attack, Ainsworth sneered and used Phantom Evasion (SS) to dodge every drop of liquid that fell above him.
Of course, dodging was unnecessary as he had already used Ultimate Freedom (SSS) to coat his body with a barrier that prevented those unknown liquids from drenching him.
After evading all the liquids, Ainsworth sniffed the air and frowned, 'Is this gasoline? That Evolver should have a liquid-based superpower that allowed him to generate and control any liquid, but the power and limitations of it are currently unknown.'
'If that's the case, then the other evolver's power should be explosion—'
Without letting Ainsworth take a break, Judy interrupted his train of thought as she forwarded her palm and released a huge ball of fire towards Ainsworth, shouting:
"EXPLOSION!!!"
The explosive fireball headed towards Ainsworth, but he merely smirked and, from what Judy and Howard were witnessing, Ainsworth arrogantly stood and took the fireball head on with open arms, as if welcoming their attack.
"Futile."
Judy and Howard heard Ainsworth's mockery. However, it was soon drowned out by a huge explosion.
The explosive fireball detonated and used the gasoline as fuel, causing it to burn brighter and its explosion radius increasing with Ainsworth at the center of the explosion.
The explosion lit up the dark streets, and the heat emanating from it prompted Howard to create ice cold liquids to counter it so that his team wouldn't be scalded by the heat.
A few seconds later, the explosion died down, leaving only a crater, with Ainsworth or his corpse nowhere to be found.
Seeing that Ainsworth was blown to ash, the survivor group's leader heaved a sigh of relief, "Fortunately, that monster is killed. Now, we can focus on esca—"
Before the survivor group's leader could finish his words, he noticed that he couldn't speak. Not only that, his vision was flipped as if he somersaulted in the air, yet he remembered that he was stationary before.
When his perspective of the world rotated, the survivor group's leader soon saw a headless corpse standing.
'Is that... my body...?'
With a thud, the survivor group leader's decapitated head rolled on the ground. What followed was his headless body, which collapsed on the ground.
Not only Howard and Judy, but the rest of the survivors who were fending off the zombies were startled by the sudden death of their leader.
Especially Howard and Judy, who had an excellent relationship with their group leader. They couldn't accept his death. After all, the two of them were at odds with each other, so neither of them wanted the other to be the leader, so their best friend was chosen as the leader by them despite him not being an evolver.
While they were distracted, it caused casualties among the members who were normal humans and couldn't use their superpowers to defend themselves.
Just as Judy was about to conjure another explosive fireball to clear the zombie horde and assist Howard in helping the rest of their group, a sudden gleam of light reflected by the moon flashed across her vision.
A sharp pain followed—right on her neck—forcing her to freeze on instinct.
She glanced down to see a white energy construct shaped like a kitchen knife pressed against her throat. It had already nicked her skin, and a thin stream of red trickled down her chest.
That was when Judy knew: she fucked up.
'Fuck! I'm being held hostage!'
Before she could even plead for her life, Ainsworth—who now stood beside her with the blade to her neck—spoke casually,
"You know what's interesting? I'm not just the chef and scout of my team... I'm also the assassin."
He sighed, sarcasm dripping from his voice.
"It's such a shame you blew up such a loud explosion, only to hit the afterimage I left behind."
"In the end, you traded your leader's life for my illusion. When I slashed his neck, none of you even saw me."
Ignoring Ainsworth's mockery, Howard summoned several rotating water blades beside him and barked,
"Let Judy go, or I'll shoot you alongside her!"
Hearing Howard's threat, Ainsworth sneered, "Heh, do you want to bet? Whether your water blades are faster or my knife is?"
"Just like what happened before, you couldn't even see how I decapitated your leader's head. Guess what would happen if you shot your water blades towards us."
Ainsworth stated, "I wouldn't even need to decapitate her. I can restrain her and dodge instantly, letting you kill her with your water blade."
"So, what would be your choice?"
Hearing Ainsworth's question, Howard weakly sighed and dissipated the water blades he had on standby.
Without any weapons present, Howard raised both of his hands in defeat and asked, "What do you even want? We didn't even offend you, and you killed our leader."
Listening to Howard's bullshit, Ainsworth retorted, "Do you have amnesia? I just arrived here, and your leader immediately ordered you two to explode me to smithereens as well."
As if thinking of something, Ainsworth concluded, "You know what? This is truly a waste of time. You bastards detonated an explosion at such a late hour and woke me up, and now you are feigning ignorance for a sin you have committed."
"I can just ask you all later when you all become zombies."
After making that decision, Ainsworth released his father zombie virus, and his viral energy seeped into the wound on Judy's neck.
Since he infused a lot of zombie virus into his viral energy, Judy immediately transformed into a zombie.
Before Howard and the rest of the survivors could react, Ainsworth created several formless kitchen knives. However, instead of them being made up of aura and mana, he used viral energy instead.
Like throwing knives, Ainsworth shot them towards Howard and the survivors at a rapid speed.
When Howard and the survivors reacted, the virus-infused kitchen knives had already stabbed their bodies and injected the father zombie virus into their bodies.
Ainsworth only needed a knife or two for those survivors, while he used more than ten on Howard. After all, they would become zombies later, so these flesh wounds wouldn't really kill them when they successfully transform.
In just under half a minute, whether it was Howard, Judy, or the survivors, they all became zombies and were forcibly recruited into his Hive Mind.
Ainsworth didn't care much about the death of their leader as he was useless and his value was the same as those normal survivors. However, he did value Howard and Judy a bit.
Even when Howard and Judy became zombies, they still retained the superpower they had when they were still alive.
If he wasn't mistaken, from the Elite Zombies he had seen, he could guess that through normal evolution progress, it would mostly be Special Zombies who could awaken a superpower. An exception would be those evolvers who turned into zombies.
'I wonder which evolution rank those zombies would gain sentience and sapience? And if they do, would it create a new personality or would it recover their past human selves?'
'If it's the latter, then zombies could create their own society and even create a human ranch to farm them as livestock.'
'This world is more twisted than I expected, and if I'm not mistaken, this should be the last resort that the Zombie Apocalypse World's Will had planned.'

Chapter 53: Ainsworth's Theory Regarding The Secret Behind His Transmigration
After Ainsworth made that discovery, he mourned the inhabitants of the Zombie Apocalypse World for just a second.
He didn't know the personality and mindset of a World Will, but he had a good feeling that his guess was correct or at least close to the truth. After all, the World Will was above all creatures, and it could exist without them.
Even if humans in this world were replaced by zombies, it would merely be the difference between the dominant species being replaced by a much more dominant one.
'Although the only possibility where my conspiracy theory is incorrect is if the zombie virus, strange mutation of the sun and moon, and many more are not the product of this World Will but caused by something unknown.'
'And if that's the case, my theory would be incorrect if such a change is harmful for the World Will such as the zombie virus and the strange mutation from the sun and moon eroding the World Will. Such a situation would make it impossible for the World Will to burn its bridges for humanity, and instead, it would rather make a last-ditch effort with the human race.'
'Either way, it wouldn't benefit me which one it would be as it's still my ultimate goal to plunder as much world origin as I can in this world. The average awakener would become an F-rank Awakener in their first otherworld mission, but I want my team and I to have a better starting line.'
Recalling his memories, Ainsworth pondered, 'My sister had become a 3-Star E-rank Awakener after completing her first otherworld mission. She was only a star away from becoming a D-rank Awakener, but her achievement was considered worthy of a genius.'
'Most geniuses like her could only achieve 3-Star E-rank Awakener status in their first Otherworld Mission, and it was even when my sister chose Hell Difficulty and completed a few side missions and one hidden mission.'
'Awakener ranks are a status given by the World Will to awakeners based on their accomplishments in the Otherworld as well as power. It's a combination of both, and the higher the Awakener rank, the more privilege the World Will would grant.'
'One of the privileges included knowing the world background info of the Otherworld, where the next Otherworld Mission would be held beforehand. It would be really useful since Rian, Dante, and I came to the Apocalypse Zombie World without any knowledge about this world, so we couldn't prepare thoroughly.'
'My sister Kyla is a 3-Star S-rank Awakener, so she had told me all the privileges given to awakeners at S-rank and below. That's why, becoming a D-rank Awakener in my first Otherworld Mission would be a game-changer as it would allow me to complete future Otherworld Missions more smoothly.'
'It was even rumored that SSS-rank Awakeners had the privilege of being able to bail out on their Otherworld Mission whenever they wanted to without even using the SSS-rank Abandon Mission Card.'
'I'm not certain if that's the case, but if it was, then that would explain why some SSS-rank Awakeners would give their affiliated forces the SSS-rank Abandon Mission Card rather than keeping it for themselves.'
'SSS-rank Awakeners were said to be powerful enough to destroy a moon or even a planet. Of course, such occurrences would only happen if an SSS-rank Awakener descended on a low-tier world. After all, it would be pointless if SSS-rank Awakeners were placed in a low-tier world like this one and could easily wipe it out in an instant.'
'One of the privileges of an SSS-rank Awakener that was publicized was the ability to descend to a low-tier world way below their power level just to either assist the Earth's Will in conquering weaker worlds or save their descendants or allies.'
'So even if Elyndra was in danger and couldn't leave the Otherworld even with the SSS-rank Abandon Mission Card, her Valtoria Empire's SSS-rank Awakener could brute force their way into that low-tier world by shattering its world barrier.'
Ainsworth knew all about that due to reading a lot of books in the Edenbridge High School's library. Unlike most school libraries, the books in Edenbridge High were regularly updated and segregated into old and new ones.
There even the option to read it in E-book format instead rather than having to flip and read a physical book. One of the perks of studying in a prestigious school like Edenbridge High was their access to vast database of information and knowledge so Ainsworth didn't waste such opportunity.
Or at least, the parallel self Ainsworth did, and the current Ainsworth benefited from it.
Recalling his transmigration into this world, which wasn't even triggered due to a death in his past life, Ainsworth contemplated, 'Speaking of which, my transmigration into a parallel Earth is really weird.'
'Putting aside the lack of death as a trigger condition, I even transmigrated into my parallel self in a parallel Earth rather than another person's body in a foreign world.'
'Although such a situation would be the best, as I don't want to transmigrate into another person's body, as it could even be a girl's, it does make everything more confusing. After all, I have read many novels and in such plots, it's likely that the protagonist's past life was merely a simulation.'
'If I assume that theory is correct, then even if I know and believe that my past life was the real one and this current life is my second, it could technically be my first life and the past life was just a simulated life.'
'I only believed the past life I experienced was my past life due to how real it is. I remembered how I was raised by my parents, spent time with my siblings, the grind I had to earn Elyndra's love, etc. But for all I know, those could just be an illusion created by an unknown power or existence.'
'One proof to back up that theory is how I transmigrated into this world when the Awakener Era had already started a few decades ago. If I transmigrated at the time when it was at the start of the Awakener Era, then I can safely assume that no one had supernatural powers or artifacts that could cause my transmigration experience.'
'But since I only arrived here when a lot of people had already became Awakeners and a few even reached a power to the point they could destroy a planet in a low-tier world, it's not out of the ordinary to have a powerful artifact that could let the target have a simulated life where everything went well for them.'
'Even now, I can use both Hive Mind and Ultimate Freedom to rewrite an evolver's memories and let them believe they have a second life or they regressed back in time, when in reality, they did not.'
'In that same case, someone more powerful than me by several major levels could do the same and let me live in a simulated world. And then, they could let me treat and believe that the simulated world was my past life when in reality, it wasn't.'
When Ainsworth thought of that possibility in regards to the theory he made, he pondered and came to a conclusion: 'In other words, if my theory is correct, then both the past life Ainsworth and the parallel life Ainsworth are the same person, which is me.'
'If this parallel Earth world is the real world, then someone must have used an ability or artifact that allowed me to live a simulation and treat it as my past life. However, during that process, I or anyone in this world was unaware of it, and it was done in an instant. I was fooled since my memories regarding that incident would be erased by the mastermind behind that.'
'If that theory is correct, then I didn't replace the Ainsworth in this world, but instead, I was that Ainsworth all along, but with my memory erased, so I assumed the past life was the real life.'
'Of course, it could also be the other way around, and this world is the simulation, and my past life was the real life. For all I know, I could be lying in the Intensive Care Unit right now, suffering from a comatose state.'
'As for who the mastermind is, it could likely be the Eye Organization, assuming they are that powerful. They likely have a member whose eyes can let someone live in a simulation or an alternate life. If that's the case, then it would make sense considering my sister had offended that organization and it had also targeted me just because they could.'
'Such a scenario is the worst one, as that would mean they are powerful enough to go unnoticed under the eyes of the thirteen SSS-rank Awakeners on Earth and even the Earth's Will. It would then mean that I'm just a pawn they placed on Earth and they spared my life because I have some use for them.'
When thinking of such a great conspiracy theory, Ainsworth shook his head, 'Even if that's the case, I can still fight as I have the system. Unless the system is compromised and is just a pawn created by higher existences, but even then, I'd rather try and fail than not try at all.'
'And besides, I might be wrong as it's likely just me being overly cautious and paranoid.'

Chapter 54: Moon Crystal
Although Ainsworth didn't fully dismiss the plausibility of the theory he made, he didn't let it get to him as he was too weak to solve it.
If his theory happened to be false, then that would be for the best. Otherwise, he would have another reason to surpass the SSS-rank Awakeners and reach a power no one on Earth has ever reached, to solve the mastermind behind all of this.
After Ainsworth made his theory, he then shifted his attention back to Howard, Judy, and the survivors.
They all had become zombies and interestingly enough, their intelligence and personality when they were still a human were retained due to the Hive Mind preserving it. Of course, the preserved intelligence and personality were already modified by the Hive Mind to be loyal to him.
From his estimation, only Special Zombies would be able to retain human characteristics but not only Kyle from before, but even the new survivors he infected still retained them.
Although they couldn't speak, they could still convey their thoughts via the Hive Mind.
He planned to let Howard, Judy, and the survivors follow Kyle to establish his Zombie Kingdom. Howard and Judy might be currently stronger than Kyle due to being evolvers before they became zombies. Depsite that, Ainsworth still didn't let them replace Kyle for the position of Zombie King.
After all, when the father zombie virus infected them, he could determine the talent and potential of the newly infected zombie in the path to evolution. So far, Kyle's potential and talent were still far superior to any of the humans he had infected into zombies.
He even had a feeling that if he didn't interrupt Kyle, who was previously bitten by a zombie, his body could have resisted the zombie virus, and he could have became an Evolver.
Since Kyle was still more talented than Howard and Judy, he let Kyle become the Zombie King of the future Zombie Kingdom that he would control from the shadows, while Howard and Judy would be his subordinates.
After making all those plans, Ainsworth asked Howard, "Why did your survivor group cause such a loud explosion? It not only caused a fire, but it even woke me up from my nap, and I dislike being woken up for no reason."
Hearing Ainsworth's question and seeing that he was in a bad mood, Howard and Judy immediately knelt on one knee to Ainsworth like knights being punished by their king.
Howard and Judy, and even survivors from the back, followed Howard and Judy, shouting in unison, "Forgive us, Your Majesty!"
Seeing Ainsworth's indifferent nod, Howard immediately breathed a sigh of relief.
Their words weren't spoken in the real world but conveyed to Ainsworth via the Hive Mind, so if a passerby saw this, they would only see a group of pale-skinned "humans" bowing to a handsome man, with reverence and fervor in their eyes.
After they received Ainsworth's forgiveness, Howard immediately answered Ainsworth's question, "We caused an explosion since a horde of zombies had gathered and we wanted to clear up the area if we could, to make it easier for us to leave our hideout in the morning."
Feeling that his answer wasn't enough, Howard continued, "Of course, we didn't just do that for no reason. Aside from clearing up a path and reducing the number of zombies, it's also due to the strange crystal we saw a zombie holding."
"The zombie at that time looked to be defending it and holding it as if it was a piece of treasure he didn't want to lose. Because of that, we felt that the strange crystal was valuable, so we caused an explosion to kill most of the zombie's minions and snatch the strange crystal from the zombie."
"Fortunately, we succeeded, but before we could flee safely, the fire we caused was extinguished by a rain that suddenly appeared."
Knowing that the next topic would be what caused their king's ire, Judy interjected with Howard by apologizing first and explaining, "Forgive us, Your Majesty! We attacked you since our leader and even we had seen you sleeping from above the sky."
"We knew you were a powerful evolver, and normally, we wouldn't dare attack you. But we were holding the strange crystal and didn't want you to extort it from us, so our leader ordered us to eliminate you before you could ask us about the strange crystal."
"We had assumed that even if you were a powerful evolver, you must have been drained and exhausted from summoning rain, so we thought we had a chance to kill you before you could respond to our attack."
"Fortunately, we failed, or else we couldn't have gotten Your Majesty's favor in becoming one of the founders for the Zombie Kingdom. I thank Your Majesty for your magnanimity!"
To further gain Ainsworth's forgiveness, one of the survivors who was entrusted with the strange crystal took it out of his pocket.
The strange crystal was wrapped in black clothing, and when the survivor unfolded the cloth, it revealed a glowing white crystal that was both crystal and gem-like in nature.
After the survivor took it out of his pocket, the survivor then knelt again and offered it to Ainsworth like a knight offering the treasure he had acquired from his expedition.
"Your Majesty, this is the strange crystal we found. Before, when we were humans, we didn't find any use for the strange crystal. Only Howard and Judy discovered that it seemed to be condensed from the essence of the moonlight."
"Now, after receiving Your Majesty's grace, we could now feel that using the strange crystal would hasten the evolution of the zombie virus in our bodies. Evolvers like Your Majesty can use it to further strengthen your superpower and the viral energy in your body, while zombies like us could use it to improve our power and evolution speed."
Looking at the strange white crystal offered by one of the survivors, Ainsworth took an interest in it and when he received it from the survivor, he noticed that the progress of his Main Mission 2 had increased, specifically the requirement to get 10 moon crystals.
The Earth's Voice of the World had deemed that he took ownership of the moon crystal, so it increased his progress in the main mission. Otherwise, if he gave it back to other people and didn't keep it, the progress would decrease.
After confirming that the strange white crystal was indeed the moon crystal he was looking for, Ainsworth immediately took a picture of it using the Hive Mind and let all the believers of the Church of Evolution as well as Kyle see it, commanding them to find such crystals.
Ainsworth didn't know how scarce or abundant moon crystals were but he didn't have to worry much since he has an entire religion assisting him in his search. It won't be long before his Zombie Kingdom would be successfully established as well as making the Church of Evolution the main religion in this world.
Kyle had already infiltrated a survivor group and even infected them with the father zombie virus, which was remaining dormant in the bodies of those infected survivors.
When it reached an amount enough to transform them into zombies, Ainsworth's Zombie Kingdom will have more subjects and world domination would be within reach.
'There should be a hidden mission for changing the main religion of this world. Even if there aren't any, I'm quite certain that world domination would be included as a hidden mission since most awakeners who achieved that had completed a hidden mission related to that.'
'After all, the goal of Otherworld Missions is to plunder the world origin of the Otherworlds. If an awakener disrupted the world to the point of dominating it, there ought to be a lot of world origin plundered, which would in turn trigger the completion of a hidden mission.'
'Since I have the power to dominate this world, I might as well start scheming for it. The Church of Evolution and the Zombie Kingdom are both crucial chess pieces for my plan, so I have to spend some effort on letting them prosper in this world.'
With that plan in mind, Ainsworth asked Howard and Judy if they found any sun crystals or artifacts but much to his disappointment, they didn't find any.
Nevertheless, he wasn't discouraged as he had already found a moon crystal, which solved the problem of identifying what it looked like.
After commanding Howard, Judy, and the members of their survivor group to start spreading his father zombie virus to other survivor groups, Ainsworth left them to their own accord.
He headed to the nearby rooftop of the tallest building he could find in the city and killed the Normal-rank Late Stage zombie staying there.
"There are only thirty minutes left until midnight, so that would be the time when moon crystals would form more abundantly. Howard and Judy had already found a moon crystal way before midnight, so it's worth the try to search during midnight and plunder from zombies who owned them."

Chapter 55: Hoarding Moon Crystals
Half an hour had passed, and when the clock struck midnight, the starry night sky began to change.
The white crescent moon glowed brilliantly overhead. Then, as if responding to an unseen call, it began to rain down shimmering white crystals.
Oddly, the crystals didn't behave like meteors. Despite falling from the sky, they retained a slow, graceful descent—untouched by gravity's force or friction's flame. It was as though some invisible force shielded them.
From Ainsworth's vantage point, he counted around twenty streaks of light descending toward different parts of the city. Judging by the pattern, he suspected this celestial phenomenon wasn't limited to just one place. Other cities were likely witnessing the same event... and receiving these mysterious moon crystals as well.
To confirm, Ainsworth communicated with his believers from the Church of Evolution. The Church of Evolution was located in a different city quite far away from this one.
When Ainsworth inquired about it from his believers, they positively responded that they also witnessed such phenomenon and were currently sending their evolvers to snatch it from the hands of those zombies.
With how diligent his believers were, he didn't have a good reason to slack off, so he used Freedom of Movement (SSS) to teleport high into the sky and catch the moon crystals before they fell to the ground.
Teleporting twenty times, Ainsworth amassed 20 moon crystals just from this city, and even his believers were also collecting the moon crystals that fell on their city.
After Ainsworth obtained the 20 moon crystals, he decide to spend his energy to travel to other cities in order to snatch their moon crystals as well.
Although his mana, aura, and viral energy were limited, that didn't stop him from traveling to other cities to hoard those moon crystals.
Ainsworth's team had already obtained enough moon crystals to complete the moon crystal quota in Main Mission 2, but he wanted to overfulfill it. After all, his goal was to become a D-rank Awakener in his first Otherworld Mission, so he ought to put more effort into completing his Otherworld Mission.
There would be an overall team reward that Ainsworth, Rian, and Dante would receive collectively for completing the Otherworld Mission. Aside from that, there was also an individual reward that would be granted depending on how much contribution a certain awakener in the team made in completing the Otherworld Mission.
It would mostly be the MVP of the otherworld team but there was still cases where more than one member in the team received that reward due to contributing a lot in completing the Otherworld Mission.
Because of that, Ainsworth was motivated to be the MVP of his team and contribute as many as he could in the progress for the Otherworld Mission.
As long as his contribution was enough and the world origins his team had plundered were plenty, it wouldn't be a dream to surpass the Awakener rank that his sister received in her first Otherworld Mission.
With that plan set in motion, Ainsworth traveled from city to city for an entire hour before he ran out of aura, mana, and viral energy. When his energy was depleted, he returned to his hotel room safely.
From his hour-long haul, he managed to hoard 87 moon crystals. As for why it was that low, it was due to him having to use Ultimate Freedom (SSS) to track the moon crystals that had already fallen to the ground.
Some had already been collected and owned by zombies, so Ainsworth had to find and snatch those moon crystals from them. On the other hand, those ownerless ones were hidden quite well, so he had to use Ultimate Freedom to get the locations of those moon crystals.
Aside from having to expend energy to use Freedom of Movement (SSS), he also had to use Ultimate Freedom (SSS) to track the locations of the moon crystals, like using a radar or map to track treasures in a treasure hunt.
If not for that, he could have gotten more than 87 moon crystals in his haul. Using Ultimate Freedom (SSS) had cost him more than using the Freedom of Movement (SSS) to travel from city to city.
Lying on his bed, Ainsworth checked his system inventory and muttered to himself, "With 87 moon crystals snatched from other cities and 21 collected here, that makes 108 in total currently in my possession."
"I've already fulfilled the Main Mission 2 requirement of 10 moon crystals—and even overdid it tenfold. And that's not even counting the ones the Church of Evolution found."
"I just need to wait until noon to see if I can collect the sun crystals I need. I also have to observe how sunlight affects this world. The moonlight here is bizarre—it speeds up zombie evolution and empowers them. Same goes for evolvers, but it comes at a cost. That is, their zombie virus becomes more rampant and filled with impurities."
"So, I need to determine what kind of effects this world's sunlight has on both evolvers and zombies. Rian, Dante, and I arrived here in the afternoon, and back then, the sunlight didn't seem to do anything unusual, or at least, nothing we noticed."
"But since the moonlight turned out to have strange effects, it's safe to assume the sunlight does too. Maybe yesterday was just a fluke. If I'm right, sun crystals will appear later at noon... and that's when the real hunt begins."
With that plan in mind, Ainsworth decided to sleep to increase the recovery speed of his energy.
...
After several hours had passed, it was finally daytime.
Waking up at 9 in the morning, Ainsworth used Ultimate Freedom (SSS) to immediately clean himself. He made it so that he had skipped the process of taking a bath but kept the effect of already taking a bath.
However, before he left his hotel room, he remembered something and to determine whether he was right or not, he checked his system stat screen.

Checking his system stat screen, Ainsworth double-checked it before nodding, "As I have expected, my viral energy was included as a stat attribute and now, it has been affected by my SSS-rank Freedom Freelancer class's class trait."
"Because of that, even if the S-rank Evolver class was merely an S-rank Class, the viral energy I have is still the same as the mana and aura I have. They all have the same capacity and quality, and even my class trait was updated so that I could use any energy interchangeably."
"In other words, I could use viral energy to cast mana-based skills or use aura to use Pathogen Control."
When Ainsworth thought of that class trait of his, he wondered, "What if I abuse that class trait? It allows me to have synchronized stats except for Luck, Charm, and Spirit attributes."
"In other words, all my stats other than those three are at E+ grade, and I could further increase them to D- grade if any of those stat attributes were increased to that, and the rest would be upgraded."
"I could perform self-mutilation and improve my endurance stat to D- grade in the process, but that would take too long. The easiest path I have is to increase my viral energy stat to D- grade by consuming the strange moonlight contained within the moon crystals."
"I have plenty of time left in this world, so I can collect more moon crystals later. Even if I deplete my current resources of moon crystals, improving my power is far more important than the Otherworld Mission."
"Anyway, overdoing the Otherworld Mission was just to get a high starting Awakener rank, and in doing so, I could get rewards that would improve my strength. But if I could use the resources in the Otherworld to improve my strength, I wouldn't have to rely on Earth's Will anymore."
Ainsworth remembered that some Awakeners became stronger using the Otherworld's resources, and the Earth Will didn't seem to care much about it as long as the Otherworld Mission was completed.
With that in mind, Ainsworth took out his moon crystals and started absorbing the moonlight contained in them to increase his viral energy attribute!

Chapter 56: Reaching D+ Stat Grade
Fifteen minutes have passed, and Ainsworth absorbed 10 moon crystals in the process.
When he absorbed his 11th moon crystal a few minutes later, he felt that not only did his viral energy increase and the virochondria in his body become stronger, but he also noticed that his entire body's physical attributes had become better.
Not only that, his aura and mana pool had increased so he could now use Ultimate Freedom (SSS) and Freedom of Movement (SSS) a lot longer than before.
To confirm his progress, Ainsworth checked his system stat screen. However, this time, he only checked his stat attributes.

After confirming that his stat attributes had indeed increased despite him only increasing his viral energy stat attribute, Ainsworth looked at the moon crystals left in his system inventory.
He decided, "Well, the Church of Evolution had already obtained more than 10 moon crystals, so those are enough to complete the moon crystal requirement of Main Mission 2."
"The purpose of becoming an awakener and completing the Otherworld Mission is just to become stronger. Since I can use the resources of the Zombie Apocalypse World to improve my strength, I might as well make use of it rather than handing it to Earth Will."
Ainsworth secretly thought, 'It just so happened that the class given to me by the choice system is too OP. I only need to increase one stat attribute, and the rest would be increased to synchronize with the highest stat attribute.'
'At this rate, I could increase my power without even needing the Earth Will's rewards and assistance. The choice system alone could increase my power, and it had proven many times that it could. At most, the only use the Earth Will has left is the fact that it can allow me to travel to Otherworlds.'
'Otherwise, if I also obtain the ability to travel to Otherworlds without needing to complete an Otherworld Mission, I can break free from the restrictions that an Awakener has and become an anomaly on Earth.'
'At that time, the Earth Will would become expendable and I wouldn't need its help in becoming an SSS-rank Awakener. The only problem I faced now is the world limit of the Zombie Apocalypse World, since I'm not certain if Zombie King and Evolver King are the limit of this world.'
'If it is, then I can only increase my attributes to that of an Evolver King. Otherwise, no matter how many moon crystals and sun crystals I use, it wouldn't be able to increase my power as I would have reached the power level limit of the world.'
'That's also the main reason why the Earth Will plunders world origins from the Otherworlds. It was to keep evolving and transcending the limitations it used to have.'
'Earth was an unusual planet as it gained the ability to send Awakeners to the Otherworlds. Other worlds like the Zombie Apocalypse World didn't have such ability, and because of that, they could only become the livestock used by higher worlds to plunder the world origin from.'
'And because of that, worlds like the Zombie Apocalypse World have a world limit, and a creature within it cannot become stronger than the world limit that world had.'
When Ainsworth remembered that each world has a world limit, he couldn't help but ponder, 'Does Earth have a current world limit? Is the reason why the publicized strongest are SSS-rank Awakeners due to it being the limit of what Awakeners could achieve on Earth?'
'Or is it because none of the SSS-rank Awakeners have managed to reach the rank beyond it due to a lack the opportunity and resources to do so? There's also the possibility that someone had already reached the rank beyond it, but it was kept secret and was never made public.'
'After all, only those who have access to top secret information knew whether there were more than 13 SSS-rank Awakeners or not. But so far, the public only knew of 13 confirmed SSS-rank Awakeners, and even the Edenbridge High School's library only has information regarding that.'
'Anyway, my worries now are whether the world limit of the Zombie Apocalypse World is high or not. The problem of having impurities and a rampant zombie virus in my body due to absorbing too much strange moonlight is not a problem due to Pathogen Control.'
'Furthermore, the zombie virus within my body is completely within my control. It has even become a part of my body like the cells I have.'
'I can even use the impurities that I obtain from rashly absorbing too much moonlight to further convert it into viral energy. Pathogen Control was indeed the best evolution superpower that I could ever receive.'
'If not for the choice system rewarding me with the S-rank Evolver class, using the Zombie Apocalypse World's resources to increase my power wouldn't have been possible. After all, even when I have discovered this method, I still can't use it to improve Rian and Dante's power, so they would have to rely on the rewards we receive from the side missions and the Otherworld Mission.'
After deciding to use all his moon crystals just to increase his power, Ainsworth decided to leave his room first to inform Rian and Dante about it.
He had also taken out food supplies and any other useful supplies he had and gave them to Rian and Dante so that they could distribute them to Thomas and the survivors. Of course, he hadn't taken out all of it. It was merely enough to last for this day.
Additionally, he also told Rian and Dante to make up new names for themselves that they would use in an Otherworld like this one. After all, Ainsworth had introduced himself as Arthur to Thomas and the survivors, and he planned to let Rian and Dante do the same.
One piece of advice given by senior Awakeners was to hide one's identity in the Otherworld. They had mentioned that some weird artifacts and abilities could kill or curse someone just by knowing their name and appearance.
If possible, aside from changing names, it was even suggested to change one's appearance. Another overly cautious senior Awakener suggested to even change one's personality and mannerisms.
Although some of those senior awakeners were exaggerating it or were too paranoid, their advices do have some truth to it as there were bizarre worlds that have strange world rules and laws and in order to protect oneself, having a fake identity was a must.
The Zombie Apocalypse World wasn't such world but to build a good habit for themselves, Ainsworth suggested Rian and Dante to do the same as he did and change their names.
Once again, it proved that having high Awakener rank would greatly benefit him and his team. After all, if he could gain information of the Otherworld where the Otherworld Mission would be held before his team would partake in the mission, they would know whether it's a bizarre world that greatly required a change of identity.
After giving Rian and Dante some instructions and supplies, Ainsworth returned to his room. He had already told them that he wanted to try something and they'd continue their journey after he's done.
Sitting cross-legged on his bed, Ainsworth took out the moon crystals and started absorbing all of them.
After an hour and a half had passed, he felt that his stats had improved greatly.
"Let me check my stats."

"Noice."
"Stat-wise, I'm already as strong as a Three-Star D-rank Awakener. Even if I'm an unranked awakener currently, I can still defeat Three-Star D-rank Awakeners easily."
"However, the more I become stronger, the greater the moon crystals I would need to consume just to reach the next stat grade."
Faced with such a problem, Ainsworth pondered for a while before he thought of a solution, "When the fourth main mission is revealed and my stats are enough for long travel, I can go to other countries in this world and establish several cathedrals of the Church of Evolution there."
"The more believers I have, the more tool men I will have. The more tool men I have, the more people I can command to do my bidding, and eventually, I can get more moon crystals and sun crystals."
"Worst case scenario, I can resort to absorbing all the zombie viruses in this world, but that can only be a last resort. The best scenario is that before the Otherworld Mission is completed, I would have reached the limit of this world. Otherwise, desperate times call for desperate measures."
As a last resort, Ainsworth had planned to absorb all the zombie virus that those zombies had. If that wasn't enough, he planned to infect everyone with the zombie virus and harvest their lives and the zombie virus, eventually causing a genocide.
However, Ainsworth ultimately decided to just keep it as a backup plan if all else failed. Even if he didn't care about the lives of the people in the Otherworld, he still didn't want to kill needlessly, as he wasn't that bloodthirsty.

Chapter 57: Strange Sunlight
Looking at these stats, Ainsworth sighed, "Although I've already upgraded my stat attributes to D+ grade, I have depleted all my moon crystal resources."
"It might take a hundred moon crystals just to reach C- grade. Tho, that's assuming sun crystals wouldn't increase my viral energy attribute. If it does, then I can use moon crystals and sun crystals interchangeably."
Feeling stronger, Ainsworth became more confident in surviving the zombie apocalypse.
He knew that Rian and Dante only had the stats of a Three-Star E-rank Awakener. However, since they were geniuses like him, it was normal to have the power to defeat those of higher ranks, but at most, they could only defeat a One-Star D-rank Awakener.
As for Ainsworth, his power and stats were already that of a Three-Star D-rank Awakener, and he could also defeat a One-Star C-rank Awakener. If he used the Override: Ultimate Freedom skill, he could potentially defeat much stronger awakeners, but he didn't know to what extent.
Nevertheless, his power, due to a loophole he found, was far stronger than that of Awakeners of the same age as him. He was confident that after he completed his first Otherworld Mission, he would become the undisputed Rank 1 in Edenbridge High School. At that time, he could finally cast away his Rank 3 title and become the Rank 1 student.
No matter how talented and powerful Elyndra and Mira were, they still weren't as good as him, as they didn't have a system, nor chose the sixth difficulty, as they only chose the fifth difficulty, which was Hell Difficulty.
Although knowing how talented Elyndra and Mira were, Ainsworth was confident that they'd be able to surpass his sister Kyla's record. Or more like, his sister at that time, didn't even take the highest record for the first Otherworld Mission completion. Her record was just worthy of a genius but not record-breaking.
Even now, countless geniuses have been increasing it to the point that the highest record was a Two-Star D-rank Awakener in the first Otherworld Mission completion.
'Although having the highest record doesn't matter much since geniuses need to grow and live long before they can be considered a true genius. That guy who got the highest record was later assassinated due to offending many forces, since he was so arrogant that the top forces couldn't let him live.'
'Fortunately, I'm on good terms with Edenbridge High School's staff and even the principal. The former principal of Edenbridge High is an SSS-rank Awakener, so I can consider them as my backer as long as I bring glory to the school.'
'To further convince them of investing in me, I need to surpass the highest record held by that arrogant awakener who died since it wasn't broken yet for obvious reasons.'
'I'm quite certain that Elyndra and Mira could surpass that guy's record, so my mindset should be to not only surpass that guy's record, but also surpass it by a large gap, thereby surpassing Elyndra and Mira in the process.'
'I might have to make choices later on that would metaphorically turn my insides black because of how vile I am, but it doesn't matter as long as my team can complete many side missions and hidden missions.'
When thinking about how he would turn this world upside down and cause chaos, Ainsworth couldn't help but joke, "The stronger I get, the stronger Earth would become since I'm an Awakener from Earth. The stronger Earth becomes, the more it could deter those otherworlders who invaded Earth via Dimensional Gates, such as those demons who came from the Demon World."
"In other words, I'm all doing this for the greater good. After all, the stronger I get, the more Earth and the earthlings would benefit from it as we'll finally be able to fend off those otherworld invaders."
Of course, Ainsworth didn't truly think so as he didn't have any plans of justifying his actions or whitewashing them. For him, it didn't matter whether he was good or evil, as it was merely a label made by whose opinion it came from.
In his opinion, justice was merely decided on which side you stand from, so one's perspective ought to be different. In their case, he and the Earthlings see the demons as evil incarnate for ruining the peace on Earth.
But to the demon race, they would applaud and support their brethren who invaded Earth as they were making their race stronger.
'In the end, what matters is absolute power. Although it was famously said that absolute power corrupts absolutely, such an opinion came from a mere mortal who didn't possess it. So, they have no right to comment on it.'
'If someone truly has absolute power, then they can control and enforce everything on this fabric of existence. Every infinite reality will be under their command, and as such, the opinion of those who are inferior to them is similar to ants walking on the ground.'
'Like how we humans don't care about the lives of the ants beneath us, someone with absolute power is high above the life hierarchy, and their existence alone transcends us mortals.'
'To solve the secret behind my transmigration, I need to become such an existence and wield absolute power. Those who stand in my way will be eliminated down to their roots.'
'However, I still can't be as unrestrained as those orphan MCs who could easily resort to the demonic path if they need to. After all, unlike them, I'm not an orphan and I still have a family member and even best friends who I trust with my life.'
'Anyway, only time will tell, and for now, I should focus on finding sun crystals.'
Checking the wall clock in his hotel room, Ainsworth saw that he had spent a lot of time absorbing those moon crystals and that it was almost noon.
"Speaking of sun crystals, I still haven't checked the effects of the sunlight in this world. When I know its effects, I can determine whether they can be used alongside moon crystals to improve my stats."
Using Freedom of Movement (SSS), Ainsworth walked through the walls and arrived outside. Since his hotel room was situated at a high floor, he was currently standing on the air, defying gravity.
Wanting to feel the sunlight at a higher place, Ainsworth teleported to the hotel's rooftop.
Surveying his surroundings from the rooftop, he noticed something different. "The zombies... they're slower during the day," he muttered. "Unlike yesterday, they now shy away from direct sunlight. Not like vampires, but... cautious, like animals avoiding something they instinctively fear."
He sat down and let the sunlight wash over him. A warm current surged through his body, purifying, steadying, and cleansing.
"I see. If we frame this world's energy in terms of Yin and Yang..." Ainsworth narrowed his eyes. "Zombies, as cold corpses, are saturated with Yin. That's why the moonlight empowers them—it's cold, nurturing, and amplifies the virus within them without restraint."
"But sunlight... it's different. It's not just Yang in temperature—it's Yang in nature. It doesn't burn them like fire, but it suppresses their Yin, like opposing Qi. It purifies the virus without eliminating it. It's a cleansing, controlled evolution."
He extended his hand towards the sunlight and mumbled, "For Evolvers, moonlight can make them stronger. But it's wild. Unrefined. It's like pouring raw Qi into your meridians. It feeds the virus inside us, but it also pollutes it. Makes it harder to control."
"But sunlight purifies. It doesn't increase the amount of virus in our bodies, but it elevates its quality. If we're careful, we can alternate between moonlight for growth and sunlight for refinement. A dangerous path... but potentially powerful."
When he made that discovery, Ainsworth shrugged, "Anyway, such are the limitations of this world's zombies and evolvers. I'm a free man, so such rules and limitations don't apply to me. I can absorb moonlight greedily like a zombie, and absorb sunlight greedily like an evolver."
"Thanks to my sub-class, I'm essentially a lifeform that both zombies and evolvers want to become but couldn't. I have all the benefits of a zombie and an evolver, but not their disadvantages."
Bathing in the sunlight, Ainsworth could indeed feel his viral energy improving, albeit slowly.
He could treat moonlight as an increase for his viral energy capacity while sunlight for increasing its quality. Both were essential to improving his viral energy attribute and therefore, the rest of his stat attributes.
After confirming that he could use the strange sunlight to improve his power, Ainsworth immediately took out a compass from his system inventory.
Holding the compass in his right hand, Ainsworth used Ultimate Freedom (SSS) and imbued his words with Freedom of Speech (SSS), "I hereby proclaim that this compass can find any sun crystals in this world for a duration of an hour before it reverts to a normal compass."
Viral energy, mana, and aura entered the compass as its magnetic needle spun rapidly until it pointed northeast from Ainsworth's current location.
"Oh, it seems even before noon, there's already a sun crystal formed. I might as well get it to see what it looks like. That way, I can inform my believers about it."

Chapter 58: Extracting The Gravity Manipulation Superpower
From Ainsworth's discovery, sun crystals and moon crystals would form at any time of the day as long as there was a location where sunlight or moonlight was concentrated. However, only at noon or midnight would they rain in abundance.
Following the direction where the magnetic needle of the compass pointed, Ainsworth soon found a sun crystal on top of a building's rooftop.
No one had found it yet, and even zombies wouldn't dare touch a sun crystal. Unlike a moon crystal, zombies wouldn't covet a sun crystal, so no one had taken it yet. It was also possible that it was newly formed, so no one had the time to find and get it.
At least, not until Ainsworth made a compass just to find these sun crystals.
Taking the sun crystal, Ainsworth observed its appearance, which was a clear orange crystal with a warmth hue. Also, it was warm to the touch unlike the cool surface of a moon crystal.
"Now that I have acquired a sun crystal, I'll let my believers and the zombies in my Zombie Kingdom know."
Using Hive Mind (S), Ainsworth sent mental images of it to all his believers from the Church of Evolution and zombies like Kyle, Howard, and Judy from his Zombie Kingdom.
Although the Zombie Kingdom wasn't fully established yet, Kyle, Howard, and Judy were already infiltrating other survivor groups and slowly assimilating them into the Zombie Kingdom.
After informing his subordinates about it, Ainsworth then continued rummaging through the city with his sun crystal compass in hand.
He looked for approximately half an hour before it was finally noon. He had found seven sun crystals in total before noon, and it was a good haul as sun crystals at this time of hour weren't that abundant.
Checking the time, Ainsworth noticed that it was only a minute before noon, so he waited on top of the highest building on the city's rooftop. To pass the time, he was absorbing the sunlight to purify and improve the quality of his viral energy and zombie virus.
Even when he was finding sun crystals before, he would multi-task by finding sun crystals and absorbing sunlight at the same time.
He did feel his viral energy attribute improving slightly with every sunbathe, so he didn't want to waste it. To reach C- grade in most of his stat attributes, he needed all the improvements he could get.
While Ainsworth was sunbathing, a minute had passed, and it was finally noon.
When the sun was at its highest when facing the world, Ainsworth soon noticed that sun crystals were forming above the sky, and eventually, they fell lightly from the sky to different parts of the city.
'There should be more than twenty sun crystals, quite similar to the amount of moon crystals formed during midnight. They are all mine. After all, finders keepers. Even if the evolvers in the city need them, then they better be faster and stronger than me, or else they won't get any.'
With that thought in mind, Ainsworth immediately used Freedom of Movement (SSS) to teleport into the sky and intercept all the sun crystals before they fell on the ground.
In the end, he got 23 sun crystals from the sun crystal shower, but just when he was about to get the 24th, he saw a woman flying into the sky.
That woman reached her hands towards the sun crystal, but just when she was about to get it, Ainsworth used wind superpower to let the sun crystal float towards him.
Noticing Ainsworth took the sun crystal that she was after and even made it disappear (via storage in the system inventory), the woman who apparently had gravity superpower floated in the air, looking displeased at Ainsworth's actions.
"What gives? I saw you get almost all of these crystals."
In response to her question, Ainsworth merely stated, "I don't see the part where that's my problem."
With that, Ainsworth was about to leave, but Nichole, the evolver with the gravity superpower, wasn't planning to let him off unless he returned the sun crystal to her.
She increased the gravity in Ainsworth's area, wanting him to restrict his movements and even let him fall on the ground.
However, she didn't know that Ainsworth was a free man. He had the freedom to move, and her actions of restricting his movements were a violation of his right to move.
Because of that, Ainsworth was unhindered by the increased gravity and merely stood in the air, looking at her as if he were looking at a fool.
Noticing the scorn in Ainsworth's eyes, Nichole blushed in shame and resorted to manipulating gravity to make her move towards him at a fast speed as gravity propelled her towards him.
Using gravity to increase the weight of her fist, Nichole swung at Ainsworth with full force, but he evaded it like a ghost, letting her punch pass through his afterimage.
"Futile."
Before Nichole could react, Ainsworth was already above her, balancing effortlessly in a one-handed handstand on her head. He released a surge of viral energy, channeling the Father Zombie Virus directly into her skull.
Seconds later, her eyes turned dull. Her body twitched, then went limp. She was now one of his own, incorporated into the Hive Mind.
As always, Ainsworth analyzed her zombie strain and added her unique evolution path, gravity manipulation, to his internal archive. With it, he could now wield the gravity superpower even better than she ever had.
Wanting to test it, Ainsworth teleported to the top of a nearby skyscraper. His right fist pulsed with condensed gravity energy.
"Gravity Impact."
He slammed his fist into the rooftop.
The result was instantaneous. A thunderous boom echoed as the impact cratered the rooftop, sending web-like fractures racing through the concrete like lightning.
The force didn't just stop there—shockwaves tore through the internal structure. Floors caved in one after another as the building's core integrity gave out.
Within seconds, the entire skyscraper collapsed inward, like a crushed soda can. Glass shattered. Steel beams twisted like paper. Dust and debris billowed into the air as the once-proud tower was reduced to rubble and ruin.
Ainsworth stood at the edge of the collapsing wreckage, untouched, with calm eyes.
"Not bad," he muttered. "Let's see what else this power can do."
He raised his hand and clenched it into a fist.
"Gravitational Pull."
A surge of gravity rippled outward from his body, and everything within a 50-meter radius was violently dragged toward him—twisted metal, crushed concrete, dismembered zombie limbs, and even a few ragged survivors who had fled from nearby ruins.
Screams were silenced mid-air as their bodies were flung like rag dolls into the gravitational epicenter, only to be crushed under the accumulated mass.
Ainsworth didn't even glance at the corpses.
He pointed a finger downward.
"Gravity Well."
A dense black sphere formed just above the ground. The moment it touched the surface, the earth itself bent unnaturally, as if space folded in on itself.
The area below crumbled into a spiraling pit, pulling down the remaining walls and floors of a half-standing adjacent building. Zombies caught in the pull were flattened, their bones snapping before they vanished into the compressed void.
He floated into the air, looking down at the chaos below.
"Orbital Smash."
A sphere of condensed gravity formed above his head, glowing dark and heavy with distortion. He launched it downward.
The projectile dropped like a miniature meteor. Upon impact, it exploded—not with fire, but with sheer crushing force.
A shockwave rippled out, flattening a city block. Windows shattered in buildings far beyond, and a deep crater was all that remained of the area.
Smoke and dust billowed, but Ainsworth hovered above it all, unbothered.
Far below, scattered survivors screamed and fled. Some had hidden in the building before. Now they were nothing more than statistics. They were reduced to nothing more than collateral damage in a field test.
Ainsworth didn't blink.
"Reverse Gravity."
A group of nearby zombies, previously unaffected, suddenly found their bodies lifting into the air. They flailed helplessly as gravity reversed, hurling them skyward. A moment later, Ainsworth canceled the effect.
The bodies plummeted.
The sound of their impacts, which was a wet splatter, echoed like a drumroll of death.
"Efficient," he murmured. "I can definitely work with this."
With his skill set expanding, Ainsworth found his sub-class more useful than expected. While his main class allowed him to do virtually anything, the stronger the effect, the higher the energy cost.
If he wanted to act as a culinary assassin, his Freedom Freelancer class made it viable. And if he wanted to play as a mage wielding different elements, he could rely on the superpowers he'd extracted from analyzing various zombie virus evolution strains—like Nichole's gravity manipulation or Chloe's ice manipulation.
Surveying the devastation and the bodies scattered across the rubble, Ainsworth concluded, "Aside from improving my stats, I need more skills to round out my combat repertoire."
"Moon crystals and sun crystals are valuable, but before we complete the Otherworld Mission, I need to collect every evolution strain these so-called evolvers have."

Chapter 59: Arriving At The Military-Established Human Survival Base
Four days have passed since Ainsworth, Rian, and Dante arrived in the zombie apocalypse world.
Their team led Thomas and his survivor group to the nearest military-established human survival base and they were about to arrive at their destination.
It has been three days since Ainsworth obtained the gravity manipulation superpower and his first sun crystal. Since then, he has been collecting sun and moon crystals not only in this city but also in other cities.
He also established branches of the Zombie Kingdom in other cities aside from the Church of Evolution's sphere of influence. In other words, he spent most of the time collecting sun crystals and moon crystals and establishing the Zombie Kingdom that there were now powerful zombies affiliated with the Zombie Kingdom in every part of the country.
Furthermore, the Church of Evolution wasn't idle either. Since those believers knew that the Zombie Kingdom was following their god as well, they struck up a deal with those zombies so the expansion of the Church of Evolution was faster than they had estimated.
Half of the country had a cathedral of the Church of Evolution and it was slowly becoming the country's main religion and it wouldn't be long until it'd become the only religion.
With the combined assistance of the Church of Evolution and the Zombie Kingdom, Ainsworth didn't have to run around every day to collect moon crystals and sun crystals since they could do it for him.
In the end, three days' worth of sun crystals and moon crystals accumulation had allowed Ainsworth to improve his viral energy attribute from D+ grade to C+ grade. With his class trait, all of his stat attributes aside from Luck, Charm, and Spirit had reached the C+ grade.
The reason why his power improved that fast was due to him using his Override: Ultimate Freedom skill every day to gather sunlight and moonlight to condense them into sun crystals and moon crystals respectively.
Moreover, he used Ultimate Freedom (SSS) to combine them into a Solar Moon crystal, further elevating the improvement an evolver or zombie would get if they absorbed it.
If the average value of a sun crystal and moon crystal were 100 each. Then a Solar Moon crystal would yield a value of 400 despite just combining one moon crystal and one sun crystal.
But even with that, Ainsworth felt that it was becoming more difficult for him to increase his stat as he was closely approaching the limit of this world's power.
There was a time he had used Override: Ultimate Freedom to divine and calculate the information he needed. Because of that, he discovered the power level limit of this world as well as the strongest zombie evolution or human evolution that this world could have.
From weakest to strongest, zombies were ranked into the following ranks:
Ordinary Zombies = F, F+
Elite Zombies = E-, E
Special Zombies = E+, D-
Zombie King = D, D+
Zombie Emperor = C-, C, C+
Zombie Overlord = B-, B, B+
Evolvers were the same as zombies and basically, an Evolver's ranks were just replacing the rank of zombies with an "Evolver" instead of "Zombie" in it, such as Evolver Overlord.
The stat grade equivalent of those evolution ranks was what Ainsworth had calculated by comparing those evolution ranks into Awakener ranks.
In other words, a Zombie Emperor or Evolver Emperor was as powerful as a C-rank Awakener in pure raw stats. But if abilities and means were included, an Awakener would have a huge edge against them as long as the Awakener had a powerful class.
After all, an evolver or zombie would mostly have only one superpower. Compared to Awakeners who had more than one class exclusive skills and even powerful class traits, an Awakener as long as they had a decent class could easily defeat zombies and evolvers of the same rank.
Recalling the things he had accomplished within just three days, Ainsworth pondered, 'Due to the early establishment of the Zombie Kingdom and the support and assistance I have given to the zombies that were part of my Hive Mind, zombie evolution speed was much faster than anticipated.'
'I had estimated that it would take a week for a Special Zombie to appear yet now, in just four days since the start of the zombie apocalypse, the Zombie Kingdom already has Special Zombies and even Kyle was about to become a Zombie Kingdom.'
'At least tomorrow, Kyle would undoubtedly evolve into a Zombie King and finally be qualified to lead the Zombie Kingdom. At that time, Rian, Dante, and I can complete the S-grade Road To Zombie King side mission.'
'And since Thomas and the survivor group are about to arrive at the military human survival base, it won't be long before we can complete the B-grade Infiltration side mission.'
'Even Ken Rogers, that believer of mine with a lightning superpower, had already become an Evolver King along with two other evolvers since I had bestowed them Solar Moon crystals. I had also promoted them to High Priests, just below Dante and Rian in rank.'
'Because of that, Ken Rogers and the other two High Priests had a much faster speed in converting other survivors into believers since they could easily capture zombies and turn them into divine wine.'
'I'm certain that establishing my own religion had accomplished a hidden mission so as long as the progress of my Church of Evolution reached worldwide, I'd undoubtedly complete a high-grade hidden mission for it.'
Due to the influence Ainsworth had in this country, the zombies and evolvers in this country were far stronger than those of other countries.
It wouldn't be farfetched to claim that the entire country had become Ainsworth's back garden. Moreover, it was within his plans to expand both the Zombie Kingdom and Church of Evolution to other countries when they both gained a solid foothold in this country.
...
After several hours passed and noon slipped by, the anticipated sun crystal shower descended once more. As expected, Ainsworth effortlessly seized every sun crystal that fell within the city's limits, not leaving a single one behind.
With the crystals secured, more time passed as his team escorted Thomas and the ragtag group of survivors toward the designated military-established human survival base.
Eventually, they arrived.
The base stood on the outskirts of a ruined industrial district, surrounded by towering steel barricades reinforced with layers of scrap metal and sandbags.
Watchtowers lined the perimeter, equipped with mounted machine guns and solar panels rigged together in a makeshift power grid. Antennas and signal jammers were crudely attached to poles, pulsing with faint static hums to ward off unknown threats.
As they approached the outer checkpoint, a dozen soldiers in full military uniform moved into formation, rifles raised. Their expressions were tense, eyes sharp.
Most wore tactical gear that had seen better days—scuffed helmets, patched vests, and mismatched ammo pouches. Despite the worn-down state of their equipment, their discipline hadn't faltered.
One of them stepped forward, likely the commanding officer, his rifle lowered but not relaxed.
"Identify yourselves!" he barked, glancing over the strangers with obvious suspicion. "You're entering controlled military territory. State your purpose and affiliation."
The survivors behind Ainsworth tensed, but Ainsworth himself stood still, calm as ever. His coat fluttered in the dry breeze, sunlight illuminating his figure like a scene out of a hero's tale.
He took a single step forward, and as he did, his entire demeanor shifted.
Gone was the aloof scavenger. In his place stood a man who radiated confidence, leadership, and uncanny warmth—the kind of presence that made people want to follow him before even realizing it.
Activating his skill, Freedom of Speech (SSS), Ainsworth willed his voice to become one that could not be ignored. Paired with his God-Level Charm, his words weren't just sounds. They were truths that bypassed skepticism and reason, touching instinct, trust, and hope.
"I understand your caution," Ainsworth began smoothly, his voice steady, disarming, and commanding. "This world has fallen, and the line between ally and enemy is blurred by desperation and deceit."
The officer narrowed his eyes, but his grip on the rifle loosened, if only slightly.
"I am Arthur. My team and I have been fighting to protect this group of survivors through unspeakable odds. We were heading here, not to impose, but to support. To contribute. To help you hold the line."
A few soldiers exchanged glances. Ainsworth's words didn't just sound convincing. They felt right.
He stepped closer. "We bring not just strength, but order. We've cleared out multiple zones, coordinated survivor routes, and ensured that no one turned along the way. Our arrival here isn't just a coincidence. It's fate. The beginning of something better."
Ainsworth changed the tone of his voice—richer now, more intimate, like a commander speaking to trusted brothers-in-arms.
"You've fought hard. Bled hard. But you're still standing. And we're here to stand with you, not against you."
At that moment, one of the younger soldiers blinked, visibly moved, lowering his rifle unconsciously. Another nodded subtly to himself, a flicker of belief taking root.
The commanding officer clenched his jaw, struggling to retain his authority, but the tide had shifted. He couldn't explain it, but something about this man felt... undeniable.

Chapter 60: Infiltrating With Just Charm And Speech
Ainsworth sealed it with one final, flawless line—his voice booming with righteous conviction.
"If you truly care about humanity's future, then let us in. Let us work together. Or, at the very least, let us prove that we deserve to stand by your side."
Silence. Then—
"...Gate open," the officer finally muttered, defeated by an overwhelming sense of trust he couldn't logically justify.
The steel gates slowly parted.
Ainsworth didn't smirk. He didn't need to. With a calm nod of gratitude, he led the group forward, his footsteps unhurried. His presence alone spoke louder than any weapon.
Behind him, his party moved in silence, their wary eyes scanning the sprawling compound beyond the gate. Watchtowers loomed at every corner, armed with auto-turrets and snipers. High concrete walls topped with electrified wire enclosed the base like a fortress.
A subtle hum of generators and faint voices told of bustling activity inside. This wasn't just a holdout shack in the ruins. It was already evolving into a coordinated military outpost.
Beyond the entrance, a paved path forked into several zones: makeshift barracks fashioned from shipping containers, improvised training grounds, temporary armory depots, a command tent with satellite uplinks, and even a garage where scavenged vehicles were being patched together.
Smoke curled from the chimneys of a prefab mess hall, and faint clatters echoed from a small but functional workshop area under assembly.
Among the soldiers stationed near the gate, a younger private—maybe twenty-one at most—stood frozen, gripping his rifle a little too tightly. He swallowed hard as Ainsworth passed by.
'Who... the hell is this guy?' the soldier thought, stunned. 'Why did that sound like something out of a goddamn movie? I almost saluted...'
He watched Ainsworth walk like he belonged here more than the damn commander did. It should've felt off, but instead, it felt... right. Comforting, even. The guy was just that kind of presence—the type people instinctively rallied behind.
A sharp whistle snapped him out of it.
"Hoy. You—Private Mendez," barked the officer, his voice rough after the awkward surrender. "Escort them to the guest wing in Sector D. And brief them on base protocols."
Mendez stiffened. "Y-Yes, sir!"
He jogged forward, meeting Ainsworth with a nervous salute.
"This way, sir. Uh, I mean—Arthur. I mean—sir."
Ainsworth offered a small smile, not condescending, not amused—just kind. "Relax. Lead the way, soldier."
Mendez nearly tripped over himself turning around.
As they moved deeper into the base, Ainsworth walked beside him, not behind. A subtle dominance—one that said, "I'm not just following you. We're equals. For now."
They passed dozens of soldiers—some drilling with live ammo, others unloading supply crates or welding armor plates onto vehicles.
Civilians moved in a slower, shell-shocked rhythm in the auxiliary sector to the east, tending to water barrels and makeshift hydroponic trays. Children peeked through tent flaps, their eyes wide with both fear and hope.
The survivors trailing behind stared in disbelief. It wasn't paradise. But it was organized, functioning, and alive.
"Your base looks well-structured," Ainsworth said casually.
Mendez perked up. "Y-Yeah. We threw it together three days ago—right after comms with Central broke down. Started with half a company and a few engineers. It's held together with duct tape and prayer, but somehow we're still running."
Ainsworth's eyes flicked toward a field hospital under construction, being guarded by two armed medics. "Better than most."
"Exactly," Mendez said, more confidently this time.
Ainsworth continued walking. A few more moments passed before he asked, like it was just idle conversation, "Who's running all this? That officer back there—he seemed stressed."
"Captain Rourke. He's in charge of Fort Echo-7. We were rerouted here from a supply convoy before the skies went dark. Now we report to no one. We've got a logistics officer, two field lieutenants, and a combat strategist—Lieutenant Bell. She's the real brain of the base."
Ainsworth nodded, absorbing every word.
"You get many newcomers like us?" he asked.
"Not really. Since yesterday, we've been turning people away—no room, barely enough food. Honestly... I don't know why they let you in."
Ainsworth tilted his head slightly, as if he, too, found it mysterious. "Then I suppose we're lucky. We'll make sure to repay that trust."
He didn't need to press further. Mendez, under the light pressure of Ainsworth's charisma and composure, had already laid out the base's population, leadership, communication status, and operational capacity without even realizing it.
God-Level Charm, paired with Freedom of Speech (SSS), wasn't just about rallying loyalty. It rewired social instinct, making others want to talk, to impress, to confide.
Soon, they reached a set of reinforced dormitories—modular prefab units with decent insulation, private bunks, and a shared latrine block. Solar panels buzzed quietly above the roof, struggling under storm-scarred skies.
This was the guest sector: Sector D, meant for diplomats, VIPs, or high-priority contingencies. It wasn't luxury, but it was leagues above a refugee cot in the mud.
"Here's your quarters," Mendez said, pointing toward the door panel. "You'll have privacy here. Mess hall's two sectors down. Showers are communal—hot water is rationed every other day. Uh... assuming the generator doesn't blow again."
Ainsworth turned to him, offering a handshake.
"Thank you, Private. You've been more than helpful."
Mendez flushed a bit, then took the handshake, unsure why it made him feel seen.
'Why do I feel like I should be thanking him...?'
As the group settled into their assigned quarters, Ainsworth met with Rian and Dante. His mind was already drawing connections between everything he'd seen and heard.
He had already obtained sufficient information about how this base worked and Mendez didn't even feel like him spilling those information was a dereliction of duty.
With Rian and Dante in his assigned quarter, Ainsworth used a sound barrier superpower to prevent others from eavesdropping on them. On top of that, he also used a technology control superpower to disable any surveillance bugs if they were present in his room.
Fortunately, when he used his technology control superpower, he discovered that there were no such bugs in his room. At least, he knew that those military people weren't eavesdropping on them but that still didn't make Ainsworth remove the sound barrier.
Even if he didn't detect anyone eavesdropping, it was better safe than sorry. Furthermore, creating a sound barrier didn't cost that much viral energy so he didn't mind using it.
After setting up the sound barrier, Ainsworth mentioned to Rian and Dante, "To be honest, I don't know why the Earth Will gave us a side mission just to infiltrate this human survival base."
Dante nodded, "This base isn't even that advanced and doesn't seem to contain any valuable treasures or artifacts. Even if it's a B-grade side mission and isn't as high as our S-grade one, it still doesn't make sense to join a human survival base this weak and small."
When Ainsworth and Dante gave their opinion, Rian pondered for a while before saying, "To plunder world origin, the original world line must be disrupted. What if, this human survival base is where the protagonist went to? In the original world line, this human survival base might become the best one among them."
"It's either due to the influence of the protagonist, or we just arrived too early in this human survival base. After all, it has only been four days since the apocalypse started and according to Mendez, this survival base has only been established by the military since three days ago."
"They have also rejected survivors due to lack of resources. However, if one of the soldiers or survivors who had joined early here before they started rejecting survivors, had become an evolver, they would be capable of assisting the military in expanding this base and making it better than it was now."
"Due to various factors we don't know, this human survival base will become one of the last strongholds of humanity in the original world line and that became the reason why the Earth Will issued a side mission to infiltrate this base."
Hearing Rian's speculation, Ainsworth agreed with it, "With how the Earth Will works, that does seem very plausible. The only problem left is if the Earth Will wanted us to destroy this base and prevent it from growing to the behemoth it would become in the original world line, or it wanted us to infiltrate and make it ours."
"Anyway, the B-grade Infiltration side mission is progression-based so if we do it right, we might be able to trigger another side mission after we complete it. For now, I'll use my charm and charisma to lower the guard of the leaders of this base and when the time is right, I'll plant my zombie virus in them."
"Although I won't trigger it yet as that would either turn them into a zombie or an evolver and that would be suspicious, I'll slowly let them become evolvers and after they join my Hive Mind, I'll let them act as if they became evolvers by their luck and efforts alone."
"Eventually, this human survival base will be ours and we'll expand it into the greatest human survival base."
