He also saw quite a few mana beasts lying around the campus, some even weaker than him, while some whose aura he couldn't even fathom.

'Damn, is this what a top-tier academy feels like?'

[Of course, Master won't know, you only went to the local academy in your city.]

'…' Orion couldn't even rebut it as he decided to wisely shut up and look around the place. Everywhere he saw was a wonder for his eyes.

A faculty member dressed in azure and silver robes noticed him enter. The middle-aged woman held a book with a crystal embedded on its cover and wore a simple circlet that pulsed with soft mana.

"You there, student," she called out politely. "Show me your testing token, please."

Orion nodded and handed it over without a word. The moment she scanned the runes etched onto the token, her demeanor subtly changed—it became a little more polite and friendly.

"Ah… You're the one recommended through House Helstorm's token." She nodded with a slight smile. "You should hurry to take the test. Follow this corridor straight ahead until you see a large dome-shaped testing arena. Someone will guide you further from there."

"Thank you," Orion responded calmly.

As he walked forward, he continued to enjoy the peace and serenity of the place. Banners with the elemental symbols of flame, frost, lightning, earth, wind, and more hung on the high wall while fluttering without any wind.

Eventually, the corridor ended as he reached an open area with an enormous circular plaza surrounded by stadium seating. Inside, applicants had already gathered with hopeful expressions, standing nervously or chatting to ease the tension.

At the far side of the arena, a semi-circular podium rose slightly above the testing floor. Several instructors and examiners were already sitting there, each exuding a strong presence.

Behind them floated dozens of glowing crystal spheres, likely enchanted artifacts to record test data.

Down on the main floor, a row of examinees stood before one of the testing stations: a raised circular platform carved with dense runic patterns.

At its center floated a translucent crystal orb—a Mana Assessment Core. Surrounding it were three brass rings suspended in air, each etched with dense formation runes.

As each candidate stepped forward, the orb and its rings glowed softly and responded based on the individual's mana output and channels.

A voice echoed across the testing floor as one of the examiners called, "Next candidate—step forward and place your palm on the assessment core."

A girl with fiery red hair stepped forward nervously. She pressed her hand against the crystal orb.

The rings began spinning slowly—first one, then two.

"Candidate: Jisela Marrowind. Mana Channels: Three. Mana Capacity: Intermediate Rank. Tier 2 Fire Affinity."

The crowd murmured approvingly. A noble with three vessels and an intermediate capacity? That was a solid foundation for most nobles.

"She's from House Marrowind after all, no surprise she got that," someone muttered.

Another stepped forward.

"Candidate: Borus Arkhelm. Mana Vessels: Two. Mana Capacity: Low Rank. Tier 1 Earth Affinity."

The murmurs were more subtle this time. Orion observed quietly, arms folded behind his back.

[Master, this is interesting! You can really see how varied everyone's foundations are!]

'Indeed,' Orion mused inwardly. 'It gives me a clearer idea of what passes as average and what stands out in this kingdom. Hmm, can you tweak the results? I don't want to expose the full extent of my potential.'

[Ehh, you want to hide your powers, Master??? Σ(っ゚Д゚;)っ]

'Of course not. But there is no need to expose my full potential here when a little is already enough to surpass all of them.' He inwardly smirked.

[Hmm, I can do that. Just need to partially block the scan. ヽ(o^▽^o)ノ]

'Good, then listen, show my Affinity at Tier 5 for Light, and Tier 4 for both Thunder and Wood element. Hide the rest of my elements. Dual Element Wielders are already rare. Three elements should do the job of making me stand out enough.'

[Okayyy Master! That should be good enough to clear the quest as well.]

He slowly nodded his head and continued looking at the test.

One by one, students stepped forward and underwent the same process. The majority had two to five mana vessels unlocked, and very few had more. And the majority had Tier 2 or Tier 3 Elemental Affinity.

Occasionally, a name would earn soft applause either due to noble recognition or an impressive foundation.

But then—

"Candidate: Sylvia Stormbolt. Mana Vessels: Six. Mana Capacity: High Rank. Dual Affinity—Thunder and Wind."

A wave of whispers rippled through the crowd.

"She's from one of the top duchy families!"

"Six damn vessels? That's nearing the prodigy level!"

Even the instructors sat up a little straighter looking at this score.

Orion quietly observed her as she turned and walked away from the platform—tall, proud, her scarlet eyes briefly flicking toward him with curiosity before moving on.

"Next!" another instructor called.

A boy from a lesser-known house stepped up, trembling slightly. "Candidate: Elrin Darnel. Mana Vessels: Two. Mana Capacity: Low Rank. Affinity: Water."

Some pitiful sighs escaped the crowd.

[Master, you're going to blow all of these people away… (*≧▽≦)]

Orion smiled faintly. 'Well… time to make an entrance then.'

Just as he was about to move closer, one of the assistants at the top came towards the senior examiner and whispered something in his ear.

The man raised an eyebrow before nodding. He stood up, "Candidate recommended by Royal Citadel Stormrend—Arya Stormrend—please step forward and test next."

Orion's eyes widened as he heard the examiner's words, 'Fucking hell, she was royalty???'

"Stormrend? Is the little princess going to join the academy with us?" The crowd became excited as they all focused their gaze towards the entrance.

"She is the kingdom's jewel." Another young man said with infatuation.

His friend gently nudged him, "Control your gaze lest you want your head decapitated. Look beside her, that is the daughter of the Royal Guard Captain—Emilia Ashborn."

He pointed toward a tall, lean girl with striking blue hair tied in a ponytail. She held a spear in one hand and walked a step behind Arya, her movements calm like a well.

Arya directly went atop the testing ground to take her test, while Emilia followed behind her without pause.

"Thank you for having me," Arya said, bowing gracefully in aristocratic fashion toward the examiner.

The examiner nodded his head politely, "The pleasure is all mine, Princess. Please proceed," he respectfully said while gesturing towards the orb.

Arya nodded her head and moved towards the orb, ignoring the gathered crowd.

'She is acting completely different here, no longer that meek girl huh.' Orion quietly muttered to himself.

[Master! She is stealing your spotlight!!!(╯°□°)╯︵ ┻━┻]

He inwardly chuckled, 'Don't worry, if she can then good for her. Though… doing that is pretty hard.'

The crowd began whispering and discussing how high her talent would be.

Emilia looked towards Arya with fanatical eyes, eagerly looking forward to her results.

Arya took a deep breath and moved her hand closer to the orb. Before her hand could even reach it, the orb began to glow subtly.

She didn't hesitate further and placed her hand on the glowing orb.

Boom!

The orb glowed with dual colors, intermixing both a crackling purple and holy white as the crowd felt a sudden pressure on their very foundation.

The rings surrounding the orb began to light up as if exploding. One. Two. Three.

The crowd held their breath, witnessing the birth of a talent worthy of leading an entire kingdom.

Four. Five. Six.

Even Orion's gaze turned serious looking at the increasing number of Mana Channels she had opened. 'Goodness, she truly is royalty,' he silently thought to himself.

Everyone's breath halted as they saw the light spread from the Sixth Ring to the next.

BOOM!

The spread of dual colors finally claimed the Seventh Ring before halting, making it clear she had opened Seven Mana Channels during her awakening.

The rings slowly stabilized and glowed with a pure white lotus symbol, marking her light affinity.

One of the assessors who was waiting for her results excitedly announced, "Lady Arya has opened Seven Mana Vessels. Capacity: Peak. Affinity: Tier Four Light and Tier Four Thunder."

The entire crowd buzzed with fervent discussion. No one had expected the Princess to have such a monstrous foundation and potential. Even in the history of the entire Thunderpeak Kingdom, only a scant few stood on equal footing with her.

'Holy shit, she was that talented?' Orion himself was shocked. 'Hmm… Change of plans, Lil Lumi, I can't make a worse impression on the crowd, right? Dual Element users are becoming fucking common now.'

[YESSSS! Finally, you get it, Master!!!✧(>o<)ノ✧ It's time to unleash your full potential and let the peasants know who the true genius here is.]

Orion's lips twitched. 'No need to go so far, listen here, you will do…' he quickly told her what he needed to do.

[Uh, are you sure, Master? You had told Grandpa Eldric and Grandma Selene that you would only reveal your Fire and Light element in front of others. (>﹏<)]

Orion's lips twitched. 'They told me Dual Affinity users are rare, but they are fucking everywhere here. And since there are Dual Affinity users in this Kingdom alone, then according to the usual trope, there will be Three Affinity users in the Empires. I must stay above them.'

[…Th-that's true.]

'It is easier to convince the crowd that I'm a naturally gifted genius than to convince them that I gained an affinity later. I don't want assassins after my ass just to know how I learned an affinity.' He inwardly exhaled.

[…But won't they be after your ass regardless due to your talent? (。•́︿•̀。)]

Orion shook his head. 'You don't understand, they will only be after me to kill me, so a genius like me won't become strong. However, I will still have the support of this Kingdom and other factions with whom I will form relations later. But if it's a topic about affinity gaining, then no one would want to help me, everyone will be after my secret of gaining affinity.'

[Looks like you thought this through, Master. But don't you plan on learning more affinities? Won't others find out about them eventually?]

He nodded his head. 'Yes, but by then I will be strong enough to protect myself. I chose the Light Element to connect with the Holy Church, the Fire Element, so I can learn Runesmithing or other paths. Wind can be used for most other tasks, such as running away or stealing treasures. Wood is good for defense as we discussed, and it will help with herbs.'

[Alright, alright, Master, you won. I will do as you had instructed. \(≧▽≦)/]

While on the stage, Arya gently removed her hand from the testing orb and took a step back. Turning towards Emilia, she softly said, "Emilia, it's your turn now."

The examiner hesitated and took a step forward. "Uh, Lady Arya, only one candidate is allowed per token."

Arya smilingly looked at the examiner. "She'll take the test. If you have a problem with that, feel free to take it up with His Majesty, the King."

Emilia didn't stand on ceremony and moved towards the testing orb. Her whole purpose of entering the academy was to follow Arya. How can a measly examiner stop her?

The examiners looked at each other and shook their heads with helpless smiles. However, inwardly they also felt proud. They were testing the princess on behalf of the dean.

They wanted to see if she was worthy of the throne or not. And so far, she had proved herself quite capable. The other nobles also quietly assessed her demeanour.

However, Emilia didn't bother with any of this and took a deep breath before extending her hand towards the testing orb.

Softly placing her hand, the orb sent a gentle stream of mana inside her body before it began to glow. The surrounding chatter died down as everyone focused on her results.

After all, she might have been overshadowed by the presence of Arya, but she herself was an apex genius of her generation and belonged to a family with nearly as much influence as the Duke House.

The orb once again flared with dual colors. Everyone speechlessly looked at each other.

'Fucking hell, are Dual Elements so common nowadays?' Orion cursed under his breath. He remembered quite well what Eldric had told him about Dual Element users. They were exceedingly rare, and each one a force to reckon with.

However, here you can randomly throw a stone and it has good chances of hitting someone with dual affinities.

While on the testing platform, the orb changed colors to crackling purple and a gentle shade of blue. The rings began rotating and began lighting up. One. Two. Three. Four.

The crowd's excitement surged again. The more talents there were in a kingdom, the better it would be for them from a political point of view.

While those from the top noble houses looked at her with caution, fully realizing a new rival had come here.

The glowing started to slow as the Fifth lit up with brilliant purple and blue colors, but that wasn't the end of it as it slowly inched towards the Sixth ring and lit it up.

The crowd loudly cheered as their academy gained another top-tier genius. However, a few people weren't all too happy about gaining another tough candidate.

The orb and the rings stabilized, and an image of a Rainy Thundercloud appeared in it.

The examiner smiled and announced the results. "Candidate Emilia Ashborn. Mana Vessels: Six. Mana Capacity: High. Affinity: Tier Three Thunder and Tier Three Water."

Emilia took a deep breath and removed her hand from the glowing orb, taking a step back before turning around and arriving in front of Arya.

She bowed and said, "Thankfully, I didn't embarrass you, Lady Arya."

Arya, for the first time, gently smiled. "You did more than well enough. Rise."

The entire crowd's heart melted at her gentle smile.

However, the examiners weren't in any mood to enjoy the scene. "Cough, Lady Arya, Candidate Emilia, if you will, please step off the platform. The test is ongoing."

Arya lightly bowed towards the examiner by lifting her skirt from one side in an aristocratic style. "Pardon us, and thanks for having us here."

Emilia nodded and followed Arya down with them. They didn't bother to stop and walked towards the exit.

Chapter 77: Monstrous Genius

The examiner shook his head with a chuckle and continued the test, however, before he could call the next person, an assistant came and whispered something in his ear.

The man raised an eyebrow and looked directly at Orion. Then he gave a nod. "Candidate recommended by Master Eldric Helstorm—you may step forward and test next."

Arya paused in her steps, making Emilia nearly collide with her back. She quickly turned around and looked towards where the crowd was looking.

The entire crowd silently looked towards where Orion was standing. Spotting him, soft chatter immediately broke out among the crowd.

"Did he just say Helstorm?"

"Who the hell is that guy?"

"Isn't Helstorm the house of that old couple who live on equal footing as Duke Houses?!"

"I heard they recently returned to the capital. So is he the reason for that?"

'Brother... Orion...' Arya, on the other hand looked at him with a hint of happiness in her eyes before her expression quickly calmed down as she saw Emilia looking at her weirdly.

"Cough, he is the Grandson of Grandpa Eldric, who is a good friend of my Father. I want to see his results," she calmly said to Emilia.

Emilia nodded her head and curiously turned around to observe Orion.

He, on the other hand, ignored all of the crowd and calmly stepped onto the platform.

The assessors silently observed his actions, their eyes now filling with more than just academic interest after knowing his background. After all, Eldric and Selene were some of the most mysterious aristocrats of the kingdom.

No one knew where they came from or who they were. All of a sudden, one day, the King gave them a mansion in the second district without any explanation. Ever since then, all nobles have been extremely curious about them.

A lot of them even tried to form connections with them, but they refused all of the gifts and visits, only meeting with a few people, and all of them were on the same level as Dukes.

Orion gave a single glance towards the crowd before smirking towards Arya, 'Time to mark my entry in this world,' he quietly thought and turned around to reach the orb.

The entire crowd paused, from students to teachers to even entities deeper within the academy. All of them focused here to see what was truly special about the one recommended by Eldric.

He took a deep breath and raised his hand. However, this gesture alone made the orb light up. His lips curled into a slight smile as he moved his hand closer and placed it on top of the crystal orb.

The moment his skin made contact—

BOOM.

The assessment orb flared to life with a dazzling, multicolored burst. It changed colors multiple times before stabilizing with four colors: Blazing Red, Greenish Brown, Holy White, and Cyan Blue.

Everyone's breath stopped seeing the four elemental glows on the center of the orb. None of them thought someone with four elements would be born in their kingdom.

"HOLY FUCK!! Are those four elemental lights?" A student below lost their mind looking at the otherworldly display.

"Four elements... has there been someone like that in the history of our kingdom?" another student absentmindedly asked.

The four elemental lights converged on the Orb before lighting up the rings. One. Two. Three. Four. Five.

In one breath, it ignited five rings, making the crowd even more excited.

Arya looked at him with shocked eyes herself. Even she didn't expect his talent to be so monstrous.

However, the light didn't stop spreading, reaching the Sixth Ring. Emilia's eyes narrowed as he reached her level so soon, and from the looks of it, this wasn't the end.

And just as she had thought, the light expanded and quickly captured the Seventh Ring, reaching the same level as the Royal Princess of the Kingdom.

But before the crowd could cheer, the light expanded quickly towards the Eighth Ring, 'Stop!' Orion inwardly shouted, urging Lumi to do her work.

The light abruptly halted as the disk began rapidly spinning, throwing off sparks of mana that crackled and hissed like thunderstrikes. All the surrounding instructors were on their feet, looking at Orion with wide eyes.

Even the entities deep within the academy drew sharp breaths, looking at the absurd potential of Orion.

However, before anyone could speak, a golden light emerged from the central orb, engulfing the whole testing platform in radiant glow.

The rings stabilized—then slowly rotated, each now etched with glowing dragon-like symbols.

One of the assessors stood frozen, then nearly stuttered out, "C-Candidate... Orion Helstorm. Mana Vessels: Eight. Mana Capacity: Supreme Tier. Affinity: Tier Five Light and Fire Affinity and Tier Four Wood and Wind Affinity. Please... step off the platform."

Orion calmly turned around and descended from the pedestal without speaking a word. The entire arena had gone dead silent.

'Ahh the protagonist treatment, I fucking love this,' he inwardly thought with a smile as he descended from the pedestal and stood back in his spot.

The arena remained eerily silent for a heartbeat. No one moved. No one spoke.

Then—

the floodgates burst open.

"Eight Mana Vessels!? Are you kidding me!?"

"Four elemental affinities?! That's not a genius—that's a monster!"

"Did you see the golden glow? What the hell was that light?!"

"Holy shit, our kingdom didn't gain a treasure but a whole fucking treasury with him," a crass young noble said with shining eyes looking at Orion.

Most of the common nobles were once again rather happy to have such a talent. And even the higher-tier nobles from Marquess and Duke Houses were happy to gain such a powerful ally. After all, the Helstorm House didn't have any political power here and neither had they ever tried to enter someone's territory.

So all nobles were rather happy with this mysterious bunch.

While the discussion continued among the nobles, a young girl clutched her fan tightly with wide eyes as she remembered what she saw. "Was that... dragon glyphs on the rings?"

A noble from an Earl House muttered to himself, "That's not just a genius, that's a fucking freak. An absolute monster among monsters."

Meanwhile, the instructors whispered among themselves at the podium.

"He surpassed the Princess," an assistant murmured under his breath.

An older teacher clicked his tongue. "Not only the Princess, he surpassed everyone who has enrolled in our academy."

The examiner looked at the teacher and asked, "Should we inform the dean?"

The old teacher waved his hand as if swatting a fly. "She has been watching it since the beginning."

Even some of the older instructors who had maintained calm expressions throughout the test looked visibly shaken.

One of them muttered under his breath, "He would bring a change, a change big enough to reshape the Kingdom."

The old teacher who spoke before nodded. "Yes, however, it depends on our teaching as teachers as to whether that change would be positive or negative."

The others agreed with him. After all, it was the duty of a teacher to shape the future of their students.

***

Further back in the crowd, some envious youths clenched their fists tightly.

"Hmph... let's see how long that arrogance lasts in real combat."

"Tch... he's nothing but a spoiled brat with... i-immense potential..." even he realized how absurd his words were at the end. He lightly exhaled and felt defeated inside.

However, not all were idiots. There were some calm people who saw Orion's bearing.

"...He truly is something else. With such potential, even the Empires might be interested in him."

"Might? It's only a matter of time until they invite him there."

Arya, on the other hand, took a deep breath to calm herself down. She didn't expect to see such a display of power from Orion today. However, she didn't hesitate further and directly walked towards Orion.

Chapter 78: Chat With Arya

Emilia curiously looked at the back of Arya before quickly following her. The crowd parted ways as they both walked toward him.

The examiners quickly calmed down and began calling the next candidates. After all, it would be shameful if they let the others see their flustered expressions.

Orion felt someone approaching and softly turned his head. He softly smiled, looking at her calm expression. 'Oh? Finally here?'

Arya came and stopped in front of him. All the students stopped chatting and held their breaths, wondering what she would say to him.

"Brother Orion, would you mind coming with me for a second?" she said with an elegant voice.

The crowd silently looked at each other.

"Well, it's not a surprise, I guess. The Helstorm House and the Royal House have been quite close since His Majesty's generation."

"But I didn't expect the princess to talk with him so directly."

"That's our Princess for you. Would she be worthy if she was just some meek girl?"

The crowd continued to softly discuss the Princess among themselves.

[Kyaaaa! She is taking you with her, Master!]

Orion inwardly shook his head and calmly looked at Arya. "Let's go somewhere more silent then. As for her..." His voice trailed off as he pointed at Emilia.

She raised an eyebrow and looked at him warily. She knew nothing about the nature of Orion; all she knew was that she had to defend her Princess at all costs.

Arya nodded her head. "She will come with me," she said, turning around and heading toward the exit of the Colosseum.

Orion looked at Emilia for a second before following after Arya.

'Now, don't disturb me. Looks like the next part will be quite fun,' he inwardly said to Lumi.

Emilia shook her head and followed after the two of them.

The surrounding students looked at their fading backs before turning back to look at the ongoing test.

However, there were also quite a few jealous gazes fixed on Orion's back as he had such a close relationship with a member of the Royal Family.

But they couldn't do anything for now, as it was the first day of the academy.

---

All three of them soon left the Colosseum and arrived at an empty park. Arya looked left and right to make sure no one was present.

She turned around and looked at Orion with a beaming smile on her face. "Brother Orion! I didn't expect to meet you here today!"

She took a step closer to him and spoke with excited eyes.

Orion chuckled, seeing her excited expression. "Not the princess anymore?"

"Hmph, stop making fun of me." She pouted and turned her head to the side. "I need to keep up the pretense as the Daughter of the King and the Sole Heir to the throne. I can't act casually in front of others."

Orion gently smiled, seeing her act like usual. He was fearing some bullshit plot about controlling parents might happen here, but his fears were unfounded. "Yes, yes, I understand. So you really didn't know about me coming here?"

She turned her head back and nodded. "Yes! Mother and Father didn't even tell me anything and just said to go join the academy."

He softly chuckled, hearing her words. "Grandpa and Grandma also didn't tell me you would be coming here. Looks like all of them wanted to give us a surprise."

Arya repeatedly nodded her head. "You don't know how relieved I am that I finally have another friend in the academy. I don't want to stay with those stinky nobles, all of them are greedy."

'More greedy than a Dragon?' Orion thought to himself in amusement. "Well, if anything, you are the biggest noble in the academy right now."

"Hmph, I'm not a nobility," she puffed her chest out and proudly said, "I'm Royalty."

"Hahaha," Orion burst out laughing in amusement. "Yes, right, royalty. So, Miss Princess, how do you like the treatment of everyone?"

Arya's face instantly became downcast. "Haa... The pressure is too much on me. Everywhere I go, people look at me expecting some divine miracle."

Orion nodded his head in understanding. He could imagine how much pressure she would be under as the sole heir of the kingdom.

Emilia looked at Arya with both a surprised and sad expression. 'Is she really so close with him? She never spoke about him to me...'

"Are your parents putting pressure on you as well?" he asked.

Arya's face blossomed into a smile. "Hehe, they love me the most. How can they put pressure on me?"

Orion nodded his head with a smile. "That's good news at least."

"So anyway, Brother Orion, I didn't expect you to be such a monstrous genius. I thought I would be able to surprise you here. But you surpassed my expectations."

He chuckled. "Well, you certainly surprised me. I didn't expect you to be the Royal Princess. You didn't even tell me that before."

Arya put her hand on her face and softly giggled. "That would have ruined the surprise. How could I have done that? Though your surprise was bigger. You have the potential to become the strongest in the entire kingdom or even beyond."

"I would need at least that much if I want to keep up with Your Royal Highness, right?" he smirked and said.

Arya softly smiled and motioned at her back. "She is Emilia, my personal bodyguard and my only good friend. You should get to know each other. I feel like you will spend a lot of time together."

Orion finally took a good look at her. She had azure blue hair and dazzling blue eyes with a spear in her hand.

She looked at him curiously and nodded her head in greeting. He nodded back and turned to look at Arya.

"Does she not have a storage ring? Why does she keep that spear with her?" he curiously asked.

Emilia's eyebrow twitched hearing his question, but she didn't say anything while Arya giggled.

"Hehe, nothing like that." She stopped laughing and softly explained, "She has her own storage ring, but she loves her spear so much that she keeps it with her all the time. She is quite a genius in the spear arts."

Orion nodded his head. 'So she is one of those fanatics who love their weapons.'

"Anyway, now that we are here, let's go and explore the academy. The three of us can just skip the remaining test with our current scores," Arya happily said.

Orion raised an eyebrow. "You sure? I don't mind flexing a bit more there."

[Master, the mission was already completed. I didn't give the notification due to... her.]

'Oh? How many objectives did I finish?' he quickly asked.

[Hehe, of course all three of them. You cleared the quest when you showed off your four elements.]

He nodded his head. 'Good, I don't need to extend my head needlessly for others to take aim.'

"Yes, Brother Orion," she softly said with a mischievous smile on her face. "I'm sure. After all, would they dare to fail the Royal Princess, her royal bodyguard, and one of the most talented students in the history of the academy?"

Orion chuckled and nodded. He was sure none of the teachers or even the dean would refuse a student as top-tier as him.

However, on the other hand, Emilia looked at Orion warily. 'He has gotten far too close far too quickly with the Princess. He doesn't have any other intention, right?'

Her spear softly hummed,

[I can sense great power within him. It would be unwise to make an enemy out of him.]

She narrowed her eyes, looking at his laughing face with the Princess. 'I need to make sure he isn't a threat to the Princess. Even if I have to sacri–'

[Woah woah, stop there. I don't sense malice from him, so at least you won't die.]

The spear's voice seemed to be that of a middle-aged woman.

[Really, I dominated the mainland for hundreds of years only to end up becoming this damn toothpick.]

Emilia paused her thoughts. '...I still need to verify it myself.'

Orion and Arya began to walk toward the main building of the academy.

"This is really like a divine kingdom. I didn't expect the academy to be so majestic," Orion heaved a sigh, looking at all the amazing scenes.

Not only were there a lot of floating platforms, he could also see many places for training or growing herbs. Basically, there were all kinds of facilities present here.

"Hehe, this academy is as old as our kingdom, Brother Orion. Or it might be even older. We only have records dating back to our kingdom's founding," she said.

Orion nodded his head and looked around for a while, but just then he remembered the weird sensation he had felt during his entry into the academy.

He decided to enquire about that from Arya. "Oh, by the way, do you know what I felt while entering the Academy? I felt as if something scanned my entire body."

Arya's expression turned serious. "Yes, Brother Orion. That device was put in place to find out the spies hidden within our race. We can't take risks and let them enter the core area of our kingdom where geniuses gather."

Orion raised an eyebrow. He had expected something similar, but he didn't think the guess would be so close to the mark.

"Are there other places with that device?" he asked.

Arya thought for a second. "Hmm, most of the major establishments in the kingdom have those devices. Especially those areas in the second ring. All of them are fortified with the latest devices to catch those demons."

Chapter 79: Elemental Freak

Orion rubbed his chin, "Hmm... how many demons have they caught by now?"

Arya lightly exhaled, "More than what we would have liked. They spawn like lotuses and never end no matter how many we kill."

Orion softly shook his head and decided to change the topic, "So anyways, since when can we start the classes? The test seems to be ongoing."

Arya giggled softly, "Already can't wait for the classes? We still need to wait 2 more days. The test will continue till tomorrow. Then they will take a day to compile everyone's results. Then on the third day, there will be a ceremony for all the new students."

He looked at her speechlessly, making her softly laugh, "Hehe, did you think there wouldn't be anything like that just because it's a Royal Academy?"

"Haa... well then we should head back home, it's already past afternoon." He looked towards the sky to see the sun slowly lowering down.

Arya nodded her head, "I should head back home as well. I can't wait to tell Father and Mother about you, they will be so happy for you."

Orion chuckled at her words and took a glance at Emilia's spear. Ever since she arrived, he had been getting a feeling as if the spear was staring at him.

"Nice spear you got there," he lightly commented, seeing her silently stare at him.

She narrowed her eyes at him and directly said, "It's a family heirloom."

[Yeah yeah, just an old rusty spear collecting dust in an idiot's family.]

A sarcastic voice came out from the spear directly into Emilia's hand. She tightened her grip and ignored its words.

Arya took a look at the spear, "That spear has been with the Ashborn family for a long time. Each generation's heir wields it. It has a larger, richer history than some of the nobles." She lightly giggled at the end of her words.

He speechlessly took a look at her, "Why do you always take a jab at nobles?"

She stuck her tongue out at him and walked back to Emilia, "Hehe, 'cause I don't like them."

He shook his head as he saw the two of them walking away, their backs finally fading after a while.

"Now, it's just me again." He stretched his hands, 'Show me the rewards, Lil Lumi. What did I get this time?'

[Bonus Title Unlocked: Elemental Freak]

[Effect: None (Given by the students of the academy).]

[You were fucking awesome there, Master...(๑˃ᴗ˂)ﻭ]

'Elemental Freak, huh?' His face formed an amused smile as he saw the title given by the students.

'Too bad there's no effect, but it still feels good to have this.' He chuckled and began walking toward the exit.

[Hehe, no student will dare to underestimate you, Master! They all will bow before you when you become stronger!!\(≧▽≦)/]

He speechlessly stared at the screen, wondering if she was his ally or enemy. '...You just want to paint a target on my back, huh?'

[Nuuuuuu! Can't I even be excited for my Master!! (ಥ﹏ಥ)]

He inwardly smiled seeing her cute reaction, but he still said, 'Don't lie to me, I know you just want to see the world burn...'

Both of them continued to bicker back and forth while walking through the academy grounds. He decided to explore the place a bit before heading back, since there was nothing important for him to do at home. And he needed to get back home a little late to do something.

A lot of students recognized him and pointed fingers at him, whispering about his absurd talent and his close relationship with the princess. He didn't mind anything and just continued the stroll.

***

At the highest point of the Thunderhall Royal Academy, hidden within the clouds, stood an abode.

The Sky Pavilion, as it was called, was a place few had ever seen—fewer still had stepped inside. Cloaked in a thin veil of clouds and ancient formation arrays, it hovered above the academy like a silent guardian.

Accessible only to a select few through teleportation sigils or to those with the ability to fly, it was the personal sanctum of the Academy's Dean.

The pavilion's outer structure appeared to be carved from storm-forged obsidian, inlaid with silver veins that pulsed faintly with lightning essence. At first glance, it looked like a simple sky mansion—elegant but modest.

But those with sufficient perception would feel the crushing weight of countless arrays and traps etched into every inch of it. Space itself trembled faintly around the edges—this was no ordinary building, but a legacy structure from a forgotten era.

Inside, the Sky Pavilion was far from luxurious. It was quiet, almost like a monk's abode. There was a small garden of silvergrass and thunderbloom lotuses that hummed with mana pulses, and a still pond reflecting the stormy skies above.

A single floating orb that was called the Academy Eye hovered at the center of the inner chamber, projecting visions from every corner of the campus. From the entrance gates to the deepest training grounds, nothing escaped its sight—except the private training grounds.

As the dean of the academy, it was beneath her to spy on the secrets of her students.

And beneath the orb sat a woman.

Young, yet old. Strong, yet weak. It was a contrasting existence that seemed to distort the space around her. Her long silver-blue robe shimmered faintly, reflecting lightning from the storm above. Her eyes, sharp as twin thunderbolts, were half-closed as she sipped tea from a cracked jade cup.

She was the Dean of Thunderhall Royal Academy.

And at this very moment, her eyes opened slightly wider.

"Elemental Freak, huh?" she muttered, letting the words linger in the air. "How many thousands of years has it been since someone with four elemental affinities has been born? Or has there even been one with four elemental affinities?"

She raised one finger, and the Academy Eye shifted, projecting Orion's face mid-laugh as he inwardly bickered with Lumi, walking across the courtyard like any other student.

"Hmm... is he crazy? Why is he laughing and chuckling to himself? Or..." She closed her eyes and thought for some time. "Does he have some treasure with consciousness? Hmm, that would make more sense."

She then focused her gaze as runes flashed in her eyes, looking deeply toward Orion. However, suddenly, he turned his head and gazed straight into the Academy's Eye. Her breath caught as their gazes aligned. No—locked. In that single instant, the entire projection fizzled. The Eye... blinked, shattering the connection then and there.

Anyone else would have only seen his confused face turning toward the Academy's Eye, however, the Dean saw more.

She saw a juggernaut of a monster in that human body.

"Was... that the manifestation of his potential?" She frowned and thought long and hard. "I don't sense any demonic presence on him, and he seemed a pure human..."

After a while, she shook her head and simply whispered, "He will bring change..." A storm rumbled far above in the clouds in response.

Chapter 80: Gaze

Then her gaze turned toward the sealed wall behind her, a wall inscribed with the names of the academy's top ten historical prodigies.

It flickered faintly.

Just once.

And then the light returned to normal.

The Dean's lips curled into a faint smile. "Let's see how far you go, Brat of the Helstorm."

***

Outside of the academy, beside a luxurious carriage, stood two men, laughing and talking with each other.

"So, what did you find about the elf Master brought back?" Edgar directly asked Lucan.

Lucan rubbed his neck and looked around, "About that, I found the hunter group but there wasn't much info I could find. They only found her unconscious in the forest, and since their vice leader was already injured, they hurriedly came back to the city."

Edgar frowned his brows, "This is troublesome. We really can't find anything about the girl?"

Lucan leaned over and softly whispered, "We can ask Lady Selene to soul search the elf."

Edgar slapped the back of Lucan's head, "You idiot, do you hate me so much that you want me to get beaten by Lady Selene!?" he cursed out loud while pointing at him.

Lucan hurriedly stepped back and rubbed the back of his head, "Cough, it was only a suggestion. I'm also quite interested in knowing where she is from."

"Then we have to wait, or we might never know. As long as Young Master is safe, it is none of our business where she is from." Edgar shook his head and stood back up straight.

"Right, right, Young Master. Isn't he quite late? It's nearly evening and I thought he would get back soon." Lucan turned back to look at the Academy's gates, which were now less crowded compared to earlier in the day.

However, there were still carriages of nobles present as they waited for their Young Masters or Young Ladies to return.

Edgar stroked his beard and thoughtfully said, "Hmm, I think Master told me that Lady Arya will also attend the academy."

Hearing his words, Lucan raised an eyebrow and weirdly laughed, "Senior Edgar, do you think Young Master Orion is busy with... Lady Arya?"

Edgar's lips twitched, "You want a beating today or what? If someone from the Royal Family heard you, then both our heads will be on the ground."

Lucan proudly laughed and shook his head, "Oh come on, don't be so dramatic. We both know Master Edgar won't let that happen."

They both continued to bicker with each other until they saw Orion exiting the academy. They stood straight and welcomed him back.

"Young Master! I hope your test went well." Edgar welcomed him back with a bow.

Lucan quickly followed after him, "Hehe, how can anything go wrong with our Young Master? I'm sure Young Master showed those spoiled nobles what true talent looks like."

Edgar's lips twitched. Out of all the things in the world, if Lucan was better than him at something, it was bootlicking. And he was miles better than himself.

'Should I get some lessons from him? Hmm... maybe it can be helpful for the future.' he thought to himself.

"Yes, it went well. Let's go back, I don't wanna be late." Orion nodded his head and boarded the carriage.

The two of them looked at each other, and Lucan softly whispered, "He seems to be in quite a hurry."

Edgar shook his head and turned around, "Let's hurry back home then. Maybe he's excited to share his results with Master and Lady."

He boarded the carriage as Lucan shrugged and jumped onto the carriage. He moved the carriage as it began rolling through the pristine streets of the second ring back toward the mansion.

The people in front parted ways as they saw the insignia of House Helstorm inlaid outside the carriage.

Inside, Edgar sat opposite Orion, feeling something amiss from his expression. "Is there something wrong, Young Master? You've seemed quite lost since leaving the academy."

Orion mulled over his words before nodding his head, "When I was exploring the academy, I felt... someone's gaze on me. As if trying to pry into my very being. Who or what was that?"

Edgar heaved a sigh of relief, "Haa... so it was this. You had me worried for a second there, Young Master." He lightly shook his head and continued, "What you felt was most likely the gaze of the Dean. She oversees the entire academy from her abode high above the clouds. She must have been monitoring you since Master Eldric notified her of your presence."

Orion raised an eyebrow, "Hmm... how strong is she?"

Edgar shook his head, "I don't know exactly how strong, but I once heard from Master that she is as strong, if not stronger, than the Duke Houses of the Kingdom."

'Lumi, could she have found out something about me? Like my bloodline, or system, or any of my treasures?' he inwardly asked.

[Heh, Master, let alone her, no one in this entire kingdom can find out anything about you. Nearly everything about you is hidden in layers of legacy. It would be a surprise if she could find out anything.]

He nodded his head, 'That's good then. Haa... I was worried for nothing.' He finally heaved a sigh and looked out of the window.

"That's all I wanted to know, Uncle Edgar. Thanks for answering me," he lightly said while gazing out of the window.

"Oh no no, Young Master, you can always ask me for help if you have any issue." Edgar shook his hands in front of him and quickly said.

Orion nodded his head as the carriage soon became silent again. Lucan, who heard everything, chuckled but didn't comment this time.

The carriage continued to move forward in silence as everyone minded their own business. And before long, it arrived before the Helstorm Estate.

"We are back, Young Master!" Lucan loudly said from the outside.

"Yes, yes, no need to shout. I'm not so far away from you." He shook his head and descended from the carriage.

"I'm going to find Grandpa and Grandma." He said as he turned around and walked away while waving his hand.

Edgar and Lucan nodded their heads and went to do their own work.

***

He soon arrived in the main hall of the estate, where Eldric and Selene were sitting. "Grandpa, Grandma, I'm back!" he cheerfully said while entering the hall.

"Ah, lad, you are back." Eldric raised his head and looked at him with a smile.

"How did the test go, dear?" Selene, on the other hand, softly asked.

"Hehe, how can it go wrong? Though there were some complications. I'll tell you about them later. Where is Seraph?"

"Heh, got a girl and forgot your old man already?" Eldric smirked and said.

Selene softly smiled, "She is in her room. You go and meet with her. It's been the whole day since you left, after all."

He chuckled and nodded his head before leaving for her.

"This brat!" Eldric shook his head speechlessly.

Selene patted his shoulder while smiling gently.

***

Knock knock.

"Seraph, it's me, Orion. I'm entering," he softly said.

As usual, no reply came from the other side. He lightly shook his head and gently opened the gate.

Chapter 81: Moonberry

Inside, it was a breathtaking scene as she sat by the window, gazing outside absentmindedly. Her beauty was truly something outside of this world. Even after visiting the academy, he hadn't found a single girl as beautiful as her.

He stepped inside, "Hey, how have you been during the day?" he softly asked.

She neither replied nor reacted, making him shake his head. He took a step closer and pulled a chair, sitting directly in front of her on the opposite side of the table.

"You know, I went to the academy today and had to give this test to see my potential..." he began talking to her idly, sharing some interesting things that happened during the day.

The two of them sat in the room—one talking, the other listening in silence.

From outside, the golden rays of the setting sun came through the window, enveloping the entire room in warm light. The peaceful atmosphere lasted a while longer as Orion simply continued to speak.

He told her about the orb test, about Arya's awakening, and even poked fun at himself for being called an "Elemental Freak" by the students.

Seraph said nothing, but she didn't turn away either.

That was enough.

"...and then the orb almost lit up the ninth ring. I don't know what would've happened if the ninth ring lit up. Maybe the dean herself would have come to see me?" he finished with a chuckle, scratching his cheek.

Still, silence.

But her ears twitched.

He caught that.

Orion leaned back in his chair, gazing at her quietly for a moment. Her posture was graceful as always, with her long green hair falling loosely over her shoulders. There was a certain elegance to her, even now, when she was doing nothing but staring out at the sky.

He exhaled softly and pulled open his inventory with a thought. But he made a gesture with his hand as if he was pulling something out of his storage ring.

From inside, he brought out a small wooden tray holding ten gently glowing, pale-blue fruits.

Moonberries.

They shimmered faintly, as if infused with starlight, their sweet aroma subtly mixing into the air.

"I asked around after I headed out this morning," Orion began, his voice softer than before, "to see what elves usually like to eat."

He gently nudged the tray toward her.

"They told me moonberries are one of your favorites. So, I looked around the market for them. Wasn't easy, but I managed to find some."

At that, she stirred—ever so slightly.

Her gaze flickered toward the tray for the briefest of moments before returning to the window. A nearly imperceptible motion... but to Orion, it was the same as a full sentence.

A small acknowledgment.

He smiled faintly, not pressing further. "You don't have to eat them if you don't want to. Just thought you might like to have them nearby," he said casually, leaning back again.

For a few more minutes, he continued talking.

Not about the academy this time, but about random things. The look on Lucan's face when he exaggerated his compliments. The way Selene kept smiling at him today like she was planning something.

He even made up a few stories, like a strange old woman in the market who tried to read his fortune with fish bones.

It was... peaceful.

Eventually, the sun dropped below the horizon. He slowly stood up from his seat, pushing the chair back without making a sound.

"I'll let you rest," he said, his voice quiet. "If you need anything... you can ask. You don't have to say anything. Just knock on my door."

He turned to leave but paused at the door. His hand rested on the frame for a second.

"Oh, and Seraph..." he said without turning around, "...Nevermind."

And with that, he stepped out, closing the door behind him with a soft click.

Inside, the room returned to silence.

Seraph's eyes remained on the outside world, but her gaze had shifted ever so slightly... toward the tray of moonberries that now shimmered quietly in the fading light. But she soon turned her head back outside.

***

[MASTER!!! Was this the reason you didn't give her the moonberries in the morning? So you could make up a bullshit reason? Σ(°△°|||)]

Lumi asked in a shocked voice.

He inwardly chuckled, 'It would've been weird if I gave her the moonberries the next morning after I brought her home. This is a delicate process—I need to be meticulous here.'

[Umu umu, but you don't need to plan so much for her, right?.]

'You see, she already has trust issues. I don't wanna step on her wrong nerve by accident. So I need to be extra careful about what I do.' He inwardly shook his head.

[Then didn't you stay for too long chatting with her? Won't she get suspicious or something?]

He smiled, 'That's where you're wrong. I've already talked about my purpose and dream in front of her and those two. So she already knows why I'm trying to get closer to her. It'll only have a positive influence if I try harder.'

[Uhhh human emotions are so complicated. (×﹏×)]

His lips twitched, 'I'm a Dragon myself, ask me how hard it is to suppress my innate nature all the time.'

[That's why you are my Master!! Cut above the rest of the peasants. How can normal people compare? (๑˃ᴗ˂)ﻭ]

He speechlessly stared at the system screen. 'Haa... I should now go and talk with Grandpa and Grandma.' He said and began walking towards the dining room.

[Hehe, those two will be jealous as hell after they find out you spent the entire evening with Seraph and didn't even ask for them. (¬‿¬)]

His body paused in his tracks, lips slightly twitching, 'Fuck! I forgot about them due to the test and Seraph.'

[Cooked.]

'You–' He really felt like cursing her, 'Where the hell are you learning these words?'

[Hehe, guess? (ᗒᗜᗕ)՛̵̖]

'...Of course, from my memories.' He inwardly shook his head in exasperation, 'Anyways, I'll appease the two of them later.'

[By the way, what did you mean to say to her at the end, when you said, 'Nevermind'?]

She asked in confusion.

'Oh that?' He inwardly smiled, 'Nothing much, just left her some words so she'll keep wondering what I was about to say.'

[So those were just empty words? You didn't mean anything with them?? (⊙_☉)]

'You're still far too young to understand the human heart.' He smirked and ended the conversation.

With that, he walked through the dimly lit hallways toward the dining hall where maids were preparing the table.

"That brat really talked with Seraph through the entire evening, huh?" Eldric said in a slightly amused voice.

Selene giggled hearing his words, "Let him do as he wishes. We already checked the girl's background and she doesn't seem to be sent by one of our enemies."

Eldric stroked his beard, "It would be fun if that's the case. The brat can get his one harsh real-life lesson from her."

Selene's lips twitched, "Shut up, you old bastard. You want him to feel betrayed at such a young age?? Your mother should've betrayed you and dumped you in some alleyway."

Chapter 82: Golden Era

Eldric speechlessly looked at her, "I was just kidding. We already thoroughly checked the elf for any weird magic. I don't think there's any chance of her being a spy or anything."

"That's for the better," Selene nodded her head.

Just then, the gate flung open and Orion entered with a cheerful smile on his face, "Grandpa, Grandma, good evening."

Eldric and Selene turned their heads toward Orion.

"Finally got time for us?" Eldric smirked and asked.

Selene, on the other hand, gently waved toward him, "Come and sit here, dear. The food is about to go cold."

Orion smiled and sat down, grabbing a piece of roasted meat from the platter. "Haa... nothing beats home-cooked food after a long day."

Selene chuckled gently. "Of course. You need proper food now that you've started going to the academy. You'll need all the energy you can."

"Of course, and who would refuse such delicious food," he said with a grin. "By the way, do you want to know about the academy test?"

Eldric raised an eyebrow. "How was it? You didn't burn the place down, did you?"

"Nothing like that," Orion replied with a chuckle, then leaned back slightly as he began recounting the day. "So, you know they measure affinities and mana channels with that Orb, right?"

The two of them nodded their heads.

"So, I decided to show four of my affinities publicly—"

"Wait," Eldric cut him off mid-sentence and frowned his brows, "Why did you show four affinities? Didn't we agree on two?"

Selene also looked at him worriedly.

Orion chuckled, "I'll get to that in a bit. So where was I? Ah yes, four affinities. So after I showed them my affinities, I'm pretty sure over half the students looked at me as if I'm a monster. While the teachers were losing their minds."

Eldric and Selene decided to ask his reasons later and listened attentively.

"Well no shit, of course they'd lose their minds," Eldric's lips twitched. "No one in the history of this country has been able to awaken four elements."

Selene gently shook her head, "You gave them too big of a surprise."

"Haha, I'm sure the Dean must've been quite shocked as well." Eldric, however, chuckled at something else.

He shrugged. "They gave me a title as well. 'Elemental Freak.' Not official, of course. Just student gossip that I heard while walking around."

Eldric burst out laughing. "That's one for the books!"

Selene covered her mouth, giggling softly.

"But," Orion added, narrowing his eyes a little, "you two could've given me a heads-up that Arya would be there."

Eldric smirked and shrugged. "And ruin the surprise? Nah. Your expressions are way more fun when you're blindsided."

Selene nodded as she sipped her tea. "We thought it would be a good opportunity—letting you two meet again without preparation. Genuine reactions matter, especially at your age."

He rolled his eyes. "Tch. Royals and their surprises."

"You're one to talk," Eldric snorted. "Didn't you bring a half-dead elf home without telling anyone?"

"Fair enough," Orion mumbled, stuffing his mouth with rice.

"Now, lad, tell me why you decided to show them four of your affinities?" Eldric put down his teacup and seriously asked.

"Oh yeah, Grandpa. You said Dual Affinity geniuses are rare. But I found them all over the place. Like, you randomly throw a Mana Crystal and it'll have a good chance of landing on a Dual Affinity awakener."

Eldric raised an eyebrow, "Are you sure you aren't exaggerating, lad? Even if it's the most prestigious academy in the kingdom, Dual Affinity users are no joke. How can there be so many?"

He spread his hands, "Well, you can ask Uncle Edgar."

Eldric and Selene's expressions turned serious. Eldric's voice turned solemn, "...Is the Golden Era coming again?"

Orion raised an eyebrow, "Golden Era? Again? What do you mean, Grandpa?"

"This is bad... this is bad... Why now? Why now of all times?" He muttered as if he didn't hear Orion's words.

Selene took a deep breath and turned to Orion, "Listen to what I'm about to say clearly, dear. It's important for your future. The Golden Era—or as some call it, the Age of Geniuses—is a bloody period that comes once every thousand or tens of thousands of years. We don't know what triggers it or how long it will last, but during this time, there will be geniuses all over the place and the world will prosper."

Orion tilted his head, "Then isn't this good news? Why is Grandpa... reacting like that?"

She took a deep breath, "Because the Golden Era is not only for us, but for... the Demons as well."

Orion's eyes widened slightly at her words.

She continued, "They will become far too active in some time. And from that, endless wars will happen all over the place." Her eyes became filled with pity. "Countless people of all races will die while the geniuses rise."

Selene shook her head, "Individuals revere this period while kingdoms and empires dread it. So many giant powers have fallen throughout long history."

Orion leaned back slightly in his chair, brows furrowed. "So it's like a double-edged sword...? Talent rises, but so does chaos?"

Eldric nodded, face unusually grim. "Exactly. The stronger the era's talents, the more brutal the conflicts that follow. Empires rise and fall in the blink of an eye during a Golden Era. What you saw at the academy today? That's just the beginning."

Orion thought of something and asked, "So are we facing the Demons under the 72 Demon Kings? Or will there be other races?"

Eldric shook his grim head, "If it were only the Demons under the 72 Demon Kings, then we might have somehow managed, as they are usually spread out all over the place. However, there are other factions. Collectively we call them Dark Creatures. The 72 Demons are but a single faction. There are a few more powerful ones and dozens of other smaller ones."

Orion's expression turned serious, "Which are the strongest factions among them?"

Eldric took a deep breath and began recounting, "72 Demon Kings is a top-notch faction. Then comes the Succubi under the lead of Mother of Chaos—Lilith. The third faction is of Vampires under the leadership of Dracula. Then, the Progenitor of Undead—the First Lich—we don't know their name. And more. I can't be sure of all of them."

He frowned his brows, "This is... troublesome." He tapped his fingers on the table, processing their words. "Then what about me? What should I be doing?"

"You don't need to change anything," Selene said gently, placing her hand over his. "Just remember—every move you make, every step forward, you will be watched by the masses. Some will admire you. Others will envy you. And many... will want you dead."

Orion chuckled dryly. "Hah. Sounds fun."

Eldric looked at him seriously, "You should head to bed now. I need to verify the information you gave me. I'll be back later." With that, he stood up and left the dining hall.

Selene stood up and gently placed her hand on his shoulder, "You don't need to worry too much. If something happens, we'll be sure to protect you."

Orion gently smiled and nodded his head without saying anything.

Chapter 83: Learning How to Lead

After everyone left, he sat there speechlessly, "Does this have to happen when I just came to this world? Is the world fucking with me?"

[You don't have to worry, Master! With me by your side, no trouble will be unsurpassable!! (๑˃ᴗ˂)ﻭ]

'And that worries me the most,' he said with a twitch of his lips.

[Nuuuuu!!! I'm not useless! (╯°□°)╯︵ ┻━┻]

[Ding!]

[New Quest Triggered!]

[Learning How to Lead.]

[Description: Handle the situation with Rina and Fiora without using your authority as their Master.]

[Reward: 100 SP]

[Time Limit: One Week]

Orion speechlessly stared at the quest window in front of him. '...You can really issue Quests at will, huh?'

[Hmph! Of course! I am Limitless first before Lumi! ( ̄^ ̄)ゞ]

'Haaa.' He exhaled a long breath. 'Looks like I can really wade these muddy waters with you.'

[Hehe~ Praise me more!!!!

'So easy...' he inwardly thought before saying with a soft smile to her, 'Yes yes, you are the best. I don't know what I'd be doing if not for you. Why don't you give me a few more quests?'

[...Uhhh my current limit is only 1 quest at a time. (╥﹏╥)]

He nodded his head, understanding that the ability to give him quests at all was already busted. 'Alright, reasonable enough. Let's go and meet with the two of them now.'

He stood up as the maids cleaned up the dining table. Exiting the dining hall, he stepped back into the now dimly lit hall as he made his way back to his room.

Outside his room, he saw Fiora and Rina standing as usual. However, something was amiss. Rina was looking in the other direction—pouting, while Fiora looked at Orion with an apologetic smile, as if pleading for Rina.

Orion exhaled a sigh, "Well, let's talk inside the room."

Rina turned her head back and slightly bowed, "It's your bedtime, Young Master, maybe we should to—oww."

Before she could say anything more, Orion lightly hit her head, "Enough nonsense, come inside."

She grabbed her head and looked at him with accusing eyes. Fiora, on the other hand, slightly giggled and softly grabbed her hand and led her inside with Orion.

Once inside, Orion closed the gate and looked at the two of them. Fiora blushed, looking at the intense stare of Orion, while Rina looked him straight in the eye.

"Alright, why all the fuss?" he lightly asked as he gently pushed both of them onto chairs and sat down. "You seem angry with me?"

"No no, Young Master, how can I be angry with you??" Fiora quickly waved her hands and denied it. However, despite her saying this, she couldn't hide the flicker of jealousy and slight resentment toward him.

Rina quickly nodded along, "How can we dare to be angry with you, Young Master?"

Orion's lips twitched, looking at them acting like this. "Haa... is it about Seraph?"

Both of their eyes twitched, but neither said anything. They didn't want to tell him that they were jealous of a new girl who just entered the mansion and was being showered with their Young Master's love and care.

But Orion clearly caught their reactions. "You two... are really a handful."

Both of them turned their heads to the side. After all, they couldn't just control their emotions.

"Listen here now," he sternly said, making them both turn their heads and sit up straighter, "You two are irreplaceable to me, no matter what."

Both of them blushed intensely at his words, their faces burning up brightly.

"However, Seraph is in a special condition now. We need to be more considerate of her. You two already know me well enough that I won't just forget about you. So what are you even worried about?" he looked at them and asked.

"In the time I spent in the library, we used to read and discuss together all the time. It's nothing unusual for us to sit there chatting for hours on end."

Rina slowly calmed down, her face showing clear hesitation as she gathered her courage and spoke clearly, "I–I fear you might leave us behind, Young Master. It's not about your character but our inability to catch up with you. That's why we... reacted like this." Toward the end of her words, she lowered her head in guilt and embarrassment.

Orion raised his eyebrow, "What are you talking about?"

"W-We h-heard abo-about what ha-happened at the t-test," Fiora stutteringly said, feeling invisible pressure radiating from Orion's body as he stared at the two of them.

"Huh?" Orion looked at her in confusion. "How? Did the news travel that fast?"

She took a deep breath to take hold of her emotions, "Y-Yes, we he-heard about the ru-rumors during the day."

Rina placed her hand on top of hers to reassure her as she took over, "After hearing those rumors, we went to meet with Sir Edgar. And he told us what happened."

He rubbed his chin, 'Looks like Uncle Edgar asked around about what happened during the test.'

"Haa... so that's why you two were worried? That I will leave you behind after you learned about my talent?" He slapped his forehead and asked in disappointment.

Fiora and Rina's bodies shuddered, clearly hearing the disappointment in his voice. They feared he was disappointed in their meager talent.

However, they couldn't lie in front of him and deny that they were thinking this, but they also didn't want him to be disappointed in their talent and leave them.

Fiora felt something choking her throat, "N-No, nothing l-like th-that—"

Rina drew a shaky breath, "N-No, it's no–-"

"Haa, I'm not disappointed in your talent, but disappointed at how you look at me. Do you really think I would leave you behind just because of your talent?" He shook his head and stood up from his chair.

Walking forward, he reached in front of them and leaned forward, "As I have said before again and again, you two are irreplaceable to me. I won't leave you behind, no matter what."

And then he hugged them both.

Both of their bodies paused.

Their eyes filled with tears as they silently sobbed on his shoulder. Orion gently smiled and caressed their backs.

Both of them had been with him since the day he arrived in this world. He wouldn't leave them behind no matter what.

'These two are really a handful,' he said with a soft smile on his face, feeling his shoulder becoming hot with their tears.

[...I want a hug too. (つ﹏⊂)]

'No.' He directly refused.

[You hug them but not me!? DISCRIMINATION!!! (ノಠ益ಠ)ノ彡┻━┻。・゚゚・(>д<)・゚゚・。]

'Alright, alright, come here. Let me give you a hug,' he inwardly smirked and said.

[...(ಥ﹏ಥ). One day... one day!! I will be sure to take this hug.]

[Ding!]

[Quest Completed.]

[You have successfully resolved the conflict with both of your companions without relying on your authority as their Master.]

[Reward: +100 SP awarded!]

'...Hmm? No bonus this time?' he asked.

[No. ┌П┐(ಠ_ಠ)]

His lips twitched, looking at the system screen in front of him. He decided to deal with her later and focused on the two on his shoulder first.

They had stopped crying by now as they silently lay on his shoulder, savoring this moment to the fullest.

Chapter 84: 30 Draws!

"Have you both calmed down now?" he softly asked.

They nodded their heads, but neither wanted to leave his embrace. He helplessly smiled and patted their backs softly, "So, from now on, do not think that I will abandon you just because I got busy with some work. Understand?"

They nodded their heads and slowly left his embrace, their faces looked reluctant but they knew they couldn't stay there forever.

Orion looked at them with a gentle smile. Reaching out with his hand, he caressed their cheeks and wiped off their tears.

"See, you two look so cute without tears. No need to cry now, alright?" he chuckled and said.

Both of them finally cracked a smile on their tear-stricken faces.

They continued to chat for a while longer before the two of them bid him goodnight and left.

He went to his bed and dropped down in exhaustion. "Haa... that was tiring. Didn't expect so much to happen in one day."

[You did great today, Master! (^▽^)]

He softly smiled, "You helped me out a bunch as well with those quests. Thanks." Not even a single second passed before he said those words, a notification popped up in front of him.

[Ding!]

[Hehehe, anything for Master!! (๑>ᴗ<๑)]

"Alright then, since I got 300 SP, it's that time again," he said with a slightly excited voice.

[You sure you don't want to save those points for later? You seem to spend all your points as soon as you get them...]

Orion waved his hand. "I can get more points later. Nothing wrong with trying to gain treasures. Who knows, I might get a legacy of a Great Mage?"

[That's the spirit! Alright, Master, initiating Gambling interface! (ノ>◕ヮ◕)ノ*:・゚✧]

[Master... it's not the best draw session we've had... but at least you didn't get all empty!

Orion chuckled. "Honestly? That Grimoire and Shadowveil Band make up for the rest."

[You gonna say I'm awesome or what? (๑•̀ㅂ•́)و✧]

"...Yeah, yeah. You did good. But the empty rate actually increased this time. It was over 30%."

[Hmm, I think the value of SP you get from various ways is different.]

"Oh? How so?"

Chapter 85: Emberflame Grimoire

[Hmm... In my opinion, the Fate-Related Quest Sequence gives the best SP, with nearly no chance of an empty draw. Then the random Quests I give, which have around a 30% chance of an empty draw. Then at last, the SP you get from Mana Crystals—I don't have an exact estimate for that.]

Orion nodded his head, "Alright, good enough for me. I can work with that." He lay back down on his bed and closed his eyes for a second.

Moonlight gently filtered through the silk curtains, casting a silvery light that bathed the room in a soft glow of midnight blue.

Orion stared silently at the ceiling, smiling softly to himself as he felt the comforting presence of the moonlight. "Today was... interesting," he murmured quietly, breaking the peaceful silence.

[You handled it quite well, Master! Not gonna lie, even I was impressed! (≧◡≦)]

"You're too easy to impress, Lumi," Orion chuckled softly.

[Hmph! It's just because Master is that impressive! (๑•̀ㅂ•́)و✧]

He smilingly shook his head lightly, letting the comforting silence envelope him for a brief moment before remembering something crucial.

"Ah right, the Emberflame Grimoire. Let me check it out quickly." He reached out, activating his spatial ring, his fingers brushing gently against the cool metal.

[Ah, Master! Your inventory was full, so I placed all the new treasures inside your spatial ring!]

Orion nodded his head—his inventory was already full during the last draw. "Lumi, you're truly thoughtful. What would I do without you?" he playfully said.

[You'd probably have lost all your treasures already! (¬‿¬)]

Orion chuckled again, pulling out the Emberflame Grimoire. Its dark crimson cover shimmered faintly under the moonlight, adorned with intricate golden flames that flickered softly in response to his mana.

"It's about time I learn how to properly create my Fire Rune," he said excitedly, opening the grimoire carefully. The smell of ancient pages and subtle fire filled his senses, making his heart quicken with anticipation.

He flipped through the first few pages, eyes scanning eagerly, but soon his excitement faltered slightly.

The grimoire was filled with profound insights about the essence of fire, detailed explanations on how fire formed, the myriad forms it could take, its elemental nature, and numerous fire-based spells—from the simplest ignition to high-tier infernos—but there was no explicit mention of the rune creation process.

"Eh? Lumi, there's no explanation about rune creation here," Orion said with a slight frown.

[Hmm, perhaps the author thought the rune creation process itself wasn't important enough to include. Maybe he assumed that users already knew it or could learn it elsewhere. Instead, he seems to have prioritized sharing his deep understanding of the Fire element and powerful spell techniques.]

Orion sighed in exasperation, slumping slightly into his pillow. "Great, I was hoping to finally get some guidance on rune formation."

[It's alright, Master! Knowing the true essence of an element is also vital! Maybe understanding fire deeply will naturally help you form your Fire Rune!]

Orion nodded slowly, conceding, "I suppose it won't hurt to deepen my comprehension. Might as well read a bit before sleeping."

He returned to the beginning, this time reading carefully. The author's insight captivated him almost instantly. The detailed explanation of fire was profound—far beyond anything Orion had ever learned in both his lives.

"Hmm, the author of this book was truly someone with profound knowledge... he thoroughly explained the essence of fire." He absentmindedly muttered while continuing to flip pages.

As he continued, the book described fire not just as heat or destruction, but as transformation—as passion and life itself—telling how all civilization began with a flicker of ember. It detailed mystical flames, magical combustions, and the subtle weaving of mana within every flame.

Unknowingly, Orion became deeply engrossed in his reading, turning pages slowly as his mind was filled with insights and understanding.

[Ahem, Master? I don't want to interrupt your profound study, but you really should sleep soon. Tomorrow's another big day!]

Orion blinked in surprise, startled out of his trance. He glanced outside; the moon had traveled significantly, marking the late hour clearly.

"You're right, Lumi," he yawned softly, reluctantly closing the grimoire. "But this book... it's incredible. My understanding of fire is already far deeper. I feel like I can form the Fire Rune without any guidance now."

[But will you try to form the Fire Rune now? ( ಠ_ಠ )]

Orion smirked, "Hah, of course... not." He wryly chuckled, "I don't want to endanger myself like that again. I'll just go to the academy and learn the basics first. Then I'll try to form it again."

[Good, looks like Master really learned from his mistakes. (^▽^)/]

"Anyway, this book is really good. Now I can't help but... want to gamble more so I can get more such books for different elements." He licked his lips, thinking about gaining various elemental books.

[Hehe, I knew Master would like it! However, getting various element books won't be easy. And one as high level as this would be even more difficult. From what I've gathered, there's less than a 10% chance of getting an Uncommon Grade Treasure.]

He lightly stretched and put the book back inside his storage ring. "Hmm, well, whatever. I'll think about it when the time comes. It's time for some beauty sleep."

[Sleep well! You deserve a good rest! (˘︶˘)♡]

Orion smiled gently and closed his eyes, quickly falling into the land of dreams as the moonlight continued to softly illuminate the room.

***

"Mmm..." Orion groggily woke up and lazily stretched his body inside his bed. "...Mm... I... really can't get used to waking up in such a luxurious bed," he sighed and said, slowly waking up.

Knock Knock

"Young Master, it's time to wake up!" Rina's energetic voice came from outside.

He softly smiled, "Well, looks like they're all good now after yesterday."

[Hehe, how can they not be? After you let them cry on your shoulders like some bullied young maidens.]

Looking towards the gate, he smilingly shook his head and said, "Come in."

The door gently opened as Rina and Fiora stepped inside, smiling warmly at Orion. Rina was clearly more energetic, her smile bright as the morning sun, while Fiora shyly stood behind her, offering a gentle smile and a slight nod.

"Good morning, Master! Did you sleep well?" Rina chirped, stepping forward confidently.

"Good morning," Fiora echoed softly, her voice warm and gentle.

Orion stretched once more, smiling gently back at them. "Morning. Yeah, I had a great sleep. I feel refreshed."

Rina giggled and nodded approvingly. "That's good! You should always sleep well. Otherwise, how can you become the legendary mage you're destined to be?"

Orion chuckled, shaking his head slightly. "Legendary mage? You're exaggerating again."

"N-No! M-Master is amazing!" Fiora quickly said, her voice earnest despite her shyness. "You will surely become legendary!"

Orion helplessly shook his head, 'Are they saying this due to my test result yesterday?' Still, he smiled warmly, appreciating their faith in him. "Alright, if you two say so."

Rina stepped forward energetically, gently pulling at his arm. "Now, it's time for your bath, Master. You can't keep everyone waiting for breakfast."

Orion stood up, stretching lazily once more before nodding in agreement. "Alright, alright. Let's go."

***

After a refreshing bath, Orion walked leisurely through the elegant hallways toward the dining room together with Fiora and Rina. Sunlight poured through the tall, intricate windows, illuminating the luxurious interior. The trio chatted lightly, their voices soft echoes in the wide corridor.

"So, Master, what are your plans today?" Rina asked curiously, turning her bright eyes toward Orion.

He smiled thoughtfully. "I'm going to spend some time talking with Seraph. I want to see if she ate her food yet or not. She really worries me."

Fiora nodded gently. "You're always so thoughtful, Young Master. I'm sure she'll appreciate it."

Orion chuckled softly. "I hope so. She's had a rough time."

They arrived at the dining room, greeted warmly by Eldric and Selene. The breakfast passed swiftly, filled with pleasant conversation and laughter, making Orion feel truly at home.

'If only I had such a good family in my past life... then maybe... maybe I might still have some attachments to that place.' He shook his head and continued chatting with Eldric and Selene.

***

After breakfast, Orion returned to his room, comfortably sitting down on his bed as Lumi's voice chimed in his head.

[Are you going to check on Seraph now, Master?]

"Yeah," he replied softly, stretching slightly. "But first, what do you think of her situation?"

[What else can I think, Master? She is destined to lead you towards your destiny—or at least give you a hint to what that is. As for her personally, I can't really tell. Her affinity is hidden, while her origins are unclear. It's intriguing to say the least, but she seems harmless enough.]

Orion nodded slowly, thoughtful. "Yeah, I feel the same. I need to at least treat her well enough that she learns to trust me."

[You're... truly calculating, Master. But be careful not to neglect Fiora and Rina!]

He laughed softly. "Don't worry. I already took care of that yesterday."

Standing up, he approached the door, stepping out where Fiora and Rina waited. "I'm going to speak with Seraph for a bit. You two take a break."

"Alright, Young Master," Rina said, smiling warmly. "We'll be here if you need anything."

Fiora gently nodded, her gaze soft and supportive.

'See? They are now fully supporting me.' he inwardly smirked and said.

Lumi felt her lips twitching. [Poor girls are dancing on your fingertips.]

He smilingly shook his head and headed toward Seraph's room.
