Alina's pov
Have you ever felt like you were slowly loosing what life actually meant?
Yes, I was currently in that position. It had been two weeks since Charmaine left, I heard father gave her a choice.
It was either she died or she left and never returned. I felt sad and broken for having to put her in such a position, but I decided not to dwell on it too much.
I wasn't let out of my room during those weeks, the blonde lady who I later found out was named Melanie turned to my teacher or rather a governess.
Turning me into a perfect doll. I laughed as I stared out of the window. I kept doing what she wanted because I didn't want to upset Dad but today, I was done with their bullshit.
"Princess, how are you feeling?" Dad asked, Melanie was seated beside him. She leaned into his chest with a large smile.
"What do you think?" I smiled back at them. I had never spoke like this to Dad but I didn't care.
"I'd take you're still upset with me letting your bodyguard go. But she is just incompetent amd useless, I've gotten better one's to protect you" Dad said, playing with Melanie's blond hair.
"I don't need them. As a perfect doll, I don't see the need to live" I slumped into the couch, crossing my legs.
"Don't be stupid" Dad's voice rose, his words were firm and a clear warning.
"I actually prefer to be stupid, father" I paused, Melanie gave me a warning look but I ignored her. "Why did you call for me?"
I asked going straight to the point, dad had never requested my presence since that incident and Princess Phina's party had gone by without anything going wrong.
"I and Aurelius's father came to a conclusion two days ago" Dad paused as he shared a look with Melanie who gave him an encouraging nod.
What was going on?
"You're getting engaged" Melanie said with a bright look. "On the same day i'm getting married to your father"
I felt my heart ache at her words but I masked it up with a huge, hysterical laugh.
"You have to be kidding me" I stopped laughing as I rubbed my chest. Dad and Melanie looked at me with a frown, they weren't being serious.
"Alina, I'm not joking. You're getting engaged to Aurelius and I'm getting married to Melanie on the same day. I'm dead serious" Dad said with a deadpan look.
I stood up from my seat, the smile on my face had turned stale. "Are you stupid, old man?"
I asked and I watched Dad's hand go stiff for a minute, he said nothing as we exchanged looks.
"You want to replace my mother with this slut? Is that the promise you made to me and her when she died?" I asked dad, a guilty look appeared on his face but it disappeared as quickly as it came.
"It had already been decided, Aurelius agreed to it" Dad added. I scoffed, Aurelius had been nothing but a chess piece in his parents game, I expected nothing less from him.
"Really?" I asked, I small sad smile appearing on my lips. "After getting Mom killed, you still have the audacity to try to marry me off. In your dreams"
I spat turning around as I ran up to my room, I heard my dad screaming downstairs and Melanie trying to coax him. I locked my door from the inside, sliding down to the floor as I cried.
I just wanted to see Charmaine.
Yes, I was gay and I loved every minute we spent together but at the end, I ruined it with my own hands. My sobs echoed through the room and I had no idea when I stopped crying but I was done.
I pulled out the revolver I had stolen from Charmaine days ago, I looked at it reluctantly but I had to do it. I didn't want to get married to Aurelius, this was the only way.
I unlocked my door and on cue, two bodyguard's appeared in front of me. "You aren't allowed to leave the room, ma'am"
One of them said, but I watched his face go pale when I placed the nozzle of the gun on my temple.
"Get me my father, or I'd pull the trigger"
"You must be joking ma'am, please don't do anything out of impulse, calm down and think" The second guard said to me but I threw my head back with a scoff.
"My father..." I trailed off, the second guard gave his colleague a glance and he ran off almost immediately.
If my mother was still alive, she would give me a sharp slap to bring me back. But, for her to be replaced by a wrench. I couldn't allow it.
Soon, hurried footsteps approached the hallway and I smiled meeting my father's eyes. "Dad"
His face had gone pale, Melissa had her mouth palmed in horror. "Alina, darling. Put the gun down"
He said to me but I shook my head slightly. "If anyone tries to touch me, I'd shoot them and kill myself"
"Don't touch her" Dad snapped to the two bodyguard's that immediately stepped down at his words. "Alina, don't do this. I'll call off the engagement"
"If I wanted that, I wouldn't be doing this" I let out a small scoff. "I'm not making a deal that benefits you but myself. Get rid of her and bring Charmaine back"
I said and I watched dad sigh sadly. "That's not possible, Alina"
"I told you she's a spoiled brat, how can you ask your father to get rid of a human being? Are you insane?" Melanie screamed taking a step toward me, I turned the gun around and it was pointed right at her.
"Yes, I am insane. I don't care" looking away from her, I stared at Dad but he avoided my eyes immediately. "Dad, get rid of her"
"I can't! I can't, Alina" Dad said, his voice was low ajd sounded almost broken. "S-she's pregnant"
My eyes went wide and I didn't think twice before I pulled the trigger. "I hate you"
I whispered turning the gun to myself, "This was not what you promised, mom. You betrayed her!"
I screamed at him tears running down his cheek. "I might as well go join her"
With a sad smile, I pulled the trigger.
