Chapter 35 - Vivien and Arya.

Alfa called his beta and gamma and, together with some guards, ran through the forest towards the west dumpsite.

Arya learned that most of the pack wastes go there, and no one visits that place except for the waste collection people.

Bella enjoyed her run, and Arya was actually surprised at how quickly she was able to turn into her wolf form.

As they neared the dumpsite, the stench that flowed in the air was nauseating. Everyone gaged, and Arya understood why this place was not visited by the wolves.

Back in human form, everyone covered their nose, and half of them complained as to why they were even there.

Fruit flies were everywhere. The stench of rotting food and other items made searching almost impossible.

Arya went around the dump to the other side and froze for a second before screaming.

The others also ran to her, and there, lying almost naked, was a female body, badly bruised. It appeared someone had beaten her up and left her for dead.

The guards climbed to the girl, picked her up, and then gasped. "Who is it?" Their Alfa asked them.

"It's the servant girl, the one rejected," one of them said.

Arya gasped, "It's Vivien?" She looked at the half dead body and almost cried. Almost. "Who was in charge of looking for her?" Her voice was full of anger.

"Luna, it was me..." Trevor answered but couldn't finish, as he felt the Lunas' gaze burning him.

"Is this how you searched? You didn't even consider coming here and checking?"

"Luna..." "You better hope that your son isn't involved in this, Trevor, because I swear to God if he is, you'll have to look for a new wolf to fill up your position after you retire."

Arya told the guards to take her to the hospital, while Ronald updated this to his mate via mindlink.

On the way back, Arya heard some guards saying, "That was hard." "Yeah man, she'll make one hell of a luna..." "Man, he deserved it... always acting like he was the Alfa."

"Oh my Goddess, what happened to her?" The doctor asked in shock. As she saw the guards bring in a girl, covered in trash, and smelt so bad, she threw up.

Dr Gretchen directed the guards to the bathroom, and Arya helped her to bathe Vivien and change her into new hospital gowns.

The nurses helped them take their patient to a room and lay her on the bed. The doctor immediately put a heart monitor on her, and IV drips through her hand.

The oxygen mask was placed on Vivien's mouth, and she was injected with some antibiotics. The nurses helped clean her wounds and bandaged her up.

Dr Gretchen had sent Arya out of the room since this was a personal doctor patient time. Alfa was right by her side, his hand never leaving her hand.

Gretchen came out after almost an hour, and she looked devastated.

"How is she?" Arya asked, searching her grey eyes for any good signs.

"Luna, Alfa, I'm not going to lie... Vivien has suffered physical abuse, to the point that her heart almost gave up. She is very critical, dehydrated, and malnourished. My only hope is that her wolf will help her recover," the doctor said, with tears in her eyes. "No one should have gone through this much pain."

"Can I see her?" Arya asked.

Gretchen hesitated. "Luna, I think..."

"Please, doctor." Arya had tears in her eyes, and her face was full of worry.

"Ok, but stay quiet."

Arya froze at the door. Tears that she had held for so long now flowed freely.

On the bed lay a stick figure, unmoving, with machines all over her. She was barely breathing and looked so small that Arya couldn't see her at first.

This was the only person whom Arya wanted to befriend, and now she lay on a hospital bed barely alive.

Arya came out of the room and ran past Alfa and the surprised doctor, heading straight out. She was breathing heavily, and she just wanted to avenge her friend.

Tears were streaming down her face as she ran into the forest. She didn't know where she was going. Arya kept running and running until it wasn't Arya who was running; it was Bella.

It wasn't until four young wolves, who smelled of Moonsglow pack, ran in front of her, blocking her path, that she finally stopped.

Bella was confused. Instead of bowing to her, these wolves were getting ready to fight, baring their teeth.

The leader came forward. 'Who are you, and what are you doing in the Moonsglow pack territory?' He asked.

'It's me, Bella, Arya's wolf. Who are you?' She replied.

'What are you? You smell nothing like a wolf?' The leader asked. By now, the rest of the wolves behind him were barking.

Before Bella could answer, a strong scent drifted through the air. The alfa was coming. His aura was intimidating, and the wolves instantly backed away and quietened down.

'Stay back, she's your Luna and my mate, Arya.' He said.

The others looked confused. They looked at each other and then at their Alfa, who seemed to have gone insane.

'But Alfa...' One look from the alfa, and the lead wolf decided this wasn't the time to argue with him.

The wolves dispersed, back to their positions. Bella realized these were border patrol wolves.

"Arya, turn back, now," Alfa said, after turning back into his human form.

Bella stared at him for a long while, before finally deciding to obey the alfa, not because he was her mate, but because he was the Alfa of this pack, and although the wolves couldn't see them, they can definitely hear them. It would not be appropriate for the alfa to beg his luna for something so simple.

She didn't want the alfa to feel embarrassed.

Alfa threw her a shawl, and Arya wrapped it around herself before getting up. "Are you OK? He asked his mate.

Arya opened her mouth to say something, but tears rolled down her cheeks, and she began sobbing.

Alfa engulfed her in a hug, and she hid her face in his chest, taking in his mouthwatering scent, the smell of wildflowers in the first rain.

Alfa felt his heart break. His mate, the future Luna of this pack was crying in his arms, and it was because of one wolf. The one who hurt the girl, and the day he found out who, that wolf will be extinct.
