Chapter 17 - 17

In a remote suburb, Herman Schultz and Jackson Bryce leaned against their van, waiting for the buyer to arrive.

The van contained dozens of shotguns and submachine guns, along with a small quantity of specialized cutting and grabbing equipment.

These goods were to be sold to a robbery gang, generating a decent income for their Toomes Salvage Company.

Although they didn't know why a robbery gang would buy so many guns in addition to cutting equipment, it didn't stop Schultz and Bryce from making the deal.

Their business wasn't easy; they often went long periods without a single transaction. While these items weren't worth a lot of money, it was better than living off their savings.

After a while, two expensive-looking commercial vans pulled up in front of them, and a large group of people, over a dozen, emerged.

Seeing so many people, Schultz and Bryce's expressions tightened, and they felt a sense of unease.

The middleman had told them the buyers were just a robbery gang, so why were there so many people, each carrying sophisticated knives and firearms? They didn't look like a robbery gang at all; they resembled a group of gangsters.

After getting out of their vehicles, these men pointed all their guns at Schultz and Bryce.

Then, one of the men, who appeared to be the leader, approached Schultz and Bryce and said loudly,

"Wow, I guess you two must be from the famous Toomes Salvage Company, right? But I heard your Toomes Salvage Company should have five or six people? Why are there only two of you now?"

"We only sell weapons and tech equipment, and we shouldn't have any grievances with you. What exactly do you want?"

Facing a dozen people with guns pointed at them, Schultz and Bryce leaned closer to the van behind them, looking very scared.

"What do we want?" The man saw Schultz and Bryce constantly backing away, and he laughed mockingly, tapping his pistol against Schultz and Bryce in a show of force, then continued,

"You should know that the drug business has been getting harder and harder lately, while high-tech items are selling very well. Our boss, Frank, has taken an interest in your Toomes Salvage Company. So I need you two to take us to meet the real person in charge of your company. Do you understand what I mean?"

"Frank? Your boss is Frank D'Amico?" Hearing this, Schultz and Bryce frowned, surprised.

They had heard of Frank D'Amico; he was the head of the largest drug trafficking and gang organization on the West Coast, a powerful figure in the New York underworld.

Although their Toomes Salvage Company had some reputation in the New York underworld for selling tech items and weapons, it shouldn't have caught Frank D'Amico's attention, right?

After all, compared to the lucrative drug trade, the tech items and guns they sold were almost negligible!

Facing the threat of so many gang members, Schultz and Bryce remained silent, refusing to take them back to the Toomes Salvage Company.

Because, even if these people's boss was the notorious drug lord Frank D'Amico, they were still more afraid of the ruthless Toomes!

And Toomes had given them strict orders to be careful when operating outside and never to reveal their true location, no matter what.

As long as they didn't reveal their specific whereabouts, they could do anything else!

So, Schultz and Bryce exchanged a glance, then fully charged their power gauntlets and fiercely blasted the man standing not far in front of them.

The man standing in front of Schultz and Bryce was sent flying over a hundred meters away, his bones shattered, and he instantly lost his life.

Seeing this, the other gang members were stunned for a moment before slowly reacting.

"Shoot them! Kill these two!"

After realizing what happened, someone roared in anger, and then everyone opened fire in the direction of Schultz and Bryce... Shortly after dinner, Peter put on his 'spider suit' in his room and went to the mirror to examine his current attire.

This 'spider suit' was the same one he wore yesterday to the New York Wrestling League. The suit was very large and loose, paired with an ugly style of pants and a face mask that exposed his eyes, making him look very silly.

Peter recalled Ron's rejection earlier in the day and finally understood why Ron didn't want to become a superhero with him.

Wearing such an ugly suit, it was hard to even walk out, so how could it be fitting for a superhero's identity?

Peter made up his mind that he would definitely make a cool-looking spider suit in the future to match his superhero identity as Spider-Man.

Putting on a jacket, Peter secretly snuck out of his house and onto the street, ready to embark on his first act of heroism.

However, for some reason, Peter searched for a long time on the street but couldn't find any legendary criminals committing robberies or murders. Instead, he encountered many minor incidents like petty theft and student brawls.

Of course, Peter didn't let these small matters deter him from doing good deeds. He stopped these people, experiencing the feeling of being a superhero.

But these incidents weren't actually that many. After a night, Peter caught eight thieves, stopped four student brawls, helped five people in trouble, and prevented a kitten from being hit by a car. After that, Peter couldn't find anything else he could help with.

Peter was a bit discouraged. He said he wanted to be a superhero, but all he did were small things, and now he couldn't even do those small things anymore.

Of course, Peter didn't give up the idea of being a superhero; the feeling of helping others made him very happy!

It was already late, and Peter felt that no more crimes would occur, so he ended his first day as a superhero and headed back towards his home.

Peter's home was in a remote suburb, so it would take some time to get back.

As Peter walked to a very remote area, he suddenly heard intense gunshots not far away, like a gang shootout.

Hearing the gunshots, Peter became excited. He had been searching for so long and finally found the legendary big criminals.

As long as he caught these criminals and hung them under the eaves of the police station like yesterday, his reputation as Spider-Man would be initially established.

Without hesitation, Peter immediately took off the jacket he was wearing, revealing his 'spider suit' with the spider pattern, and then rushed towards the direction of the gunshots.

Yes, he rushed. This place was not in a high-rise city area but in the suburbs. There were no tall buildings for Peter to swing from, so he could only run with his feet.

After running for a while, Peter discovered the true situation at the source of the gunshots.

The situation was this: about a dozen people were frantically shooting at two individuals with their guns, while those two individuals had no weapons to fight back, not even a pistol.

Helpless, the two individuals could only hide behind the car next to them, preparing to dodge the gunfire.

However, then, a scene that shocked Peter unfolded.

After the gunfire subsided a bit, the two individuals actually punched the van in front of them, sending it flying towards the people who were attacking them with guns.

Seeing this scene, Peter knew that these two were definitely not ordinary criminals, but rather supervillains with superpowers!

Dealing with such supervillains was the duty of a superhero... Without further hesitation, Peter quickly shot out his web, stuck it to the flying van, and swung it aside, saving those people.
